I don't believe she said he woke her up to "anal" sex. And she DID consent to anal sex throughout their sexual relationship and with another. To each their own. I really don't care whether she "liked" it or not. She consented and in the sex tape she absolutely said she enjoyed it.

And I'd like to see a raising of hands for those who don't mind or did not mind when their husband or boyfriend woke them or wakes them up with sex. Rape? That's little out there! IMO.

Before anyone goes crazy on me...of course I do not condone rape or non-consenting sex.

To me, having been married for over 40 years, you already have worked out an agreement with your husband/partner of what you like and what you don't and there is an understanding....in normal relationships, not abusive.

If you are not exclusive partners and are not interested in the type of sex your partner is interested in then why would you be sleeping in bed with them. If you feel you can't trust them then don't sleep with them. It's that simple. Jodi was in Travis' bed for a reason and it was not because she didn't have anywhere else to sleep. She continued to see him. I don't buy domestic violence because there was nothing holding her there other than the fact that Jodi wanted to control Travis' life. That is not someone who could not get away from a violent relationship. There is no proof Travis was violent but there is proof Jodi was. Just look at the crime scene. jmo

Penetrating someone who is asleep is rape BECAUSE it is non-consensual. If some couples are ok with that then it's because the consent is implied as both parties are ok with it and KNOW that both parties are ok with it. And whether it's anal or vaginal or oral it's all penetration and it's all rape. No wonder some many men think this is perfectly acceptable behavior when even women think it's no big deal.
:banghead:

But you are taking the word of a known liar that he even did that. At all.

And you're right. If it is implied it is OK in your relationship~no big deal.

I am not sure where you are going with this. If you are in a relationship and it is not OK with you...you get out of the relationship if you think you are being raped.

I just hafta say this about ALV: She irritated me more than anyone other than the defendant in this trial. She reminds me of certain women I have met during the time I was involved with self-help groups. There always seems to be a woman who emerges a a protector and guide for the newbies. This woman becomes sort of a celeb, for want of a better word. The woman hang on her every word, ask for advise, etc. THESE woman have been for the most part helpful and well-meaning.
ALV makes me think that she has morphed from counselor to sort of a super hero and defender of battered women, with gaggles of adoring supporters feeding her ego. Unfortunately that was not her role in the trial. Tragically, she did a disservice to women suffering from abuse.

JMO

She has an inflated ego, imo. A supreme feminist with a disgust for men in general. And, a celebrity in her own mind. Men are the enemies. I believe she had ZERO effect on the jurors, other than the ick factor.

You kind of said it yourself. If both parties are okay with it and consent has been giving before and parties KNOW that both parties are okay with it, then starting to have sex or waking up someone with sex (oral, anal, virginal) can't be considered rape, even if penetration starts when someone is "asleep" or the body was made ready for penetration by the woman's body itself or lube was used.

Like you said, if consent is giving (I like it when I wake up with you inside of me, I like it when you wake me with sex, whatever) and the next day the person gets woken up with sex, penetrated before being fully awake, then you can't consider it rape, even if they were asleep. You kind of said it yourself.

Hold on KandyKane! I am as against rape as the next woman or man for that matter. I think when you are in a "sexual relationship" and that is what it was for both of them "SEX" is the operative word. Oral, Anal, Vaginal, etc---anything goes or it seems went in their relationship. That is Not the same as sneaking in someones window and penetrating them while they are asleep--as a perfect stranger. Yikes! I shudder to think of how many men and women could be charged with that in a marriage, relationship or divorce.

I think she said he woke her up with "Oral" sex--not Anal sex. Just sayin and MOO.

exactly. as a rape survivor, i also get weary of people minimizing what it means to be raped. let's say he DID wake her up with oral or vaginal sex. if she didn't like it and said STOP, and he kept going against her will, that's one thing.

but as we know, she never said a word. it's not like she was unconscious and he just had his way with her. she WOKE UP. could have said STOP THAT, i'm sleeping. she didn't do that.

that's not RAPE, people. come on.

gillygrl, ITA and reminds of cult leaders and a cult mentality.

I found it very strange that Nurmi talked about Snow White, haircuts and sexual orientation. The jury is not supposed to watch, read or listen (other than in court) about the trial as per the admonition given buy JSS. So, why would Nurmi even mention those things as nothing other than Snow White was brought up in court. Therefore, the jury would have no knowledge of what haircuts and sexual orientation would have to do with the trial.
RSBM.

The jury would know about what the hair cut thing meant because a juror asked RS if people could get PTSD from having a bad haircut. That's why KN brought it up. He was saying it's not a matter of what RS looked like or whether ALV was lesbian, and ditto the Snow White comment.

I agree. And IF this happened at all, because all we have is Jodi's word. We know he woke her up with oral sex before and she liked that.

Amen to that and all you said, LambChop!

Arias thought she could keep him and make him love her through sex. I don't believe not one word of her sexual and domestic violence anyway!

Re: Dr Drew and Chris Hughes

One of the things Chris did is tell a personal story about Travis Alexander to offset all the evil lies told about him during the trial:

Paraphrasing:

Travis saw a homeless man on the street - invited him to his home so he could take a hot shower, gave him clothes out of his own wardrobe, took him to a restaurant and got him a job there.

This story hopefully will be told in the penalty phase & get her the DP
This story tells the jury who Travis really was as a person & just how far Jodi went to ruin him
The jury will feel their verdict was right on spot
The jury will see Travis as a man who was doing god's work & who took his faith in The good Lord seriously!!

Agreed. Plus if you are in a committed relationship and someone woke you in this way, without being too graphic, it not always a bad thing. Some find it a turn on. Think spooning and morning "relations". It can go both ways, IYKWIM. :escape::escape:

This is what makes me so angry and hateful about her claims of sexual and domestic violence lie. Minimizing what women like you have been through. She has made a mockery of victims like you.

God Bless, kscornfed.

Does anyone know how I go about signing up for a text alert concerning the verdict? What do I do with the text alert number that has been posted? Never done it before so thanks for the help.

Who knew you could be paid to be the BFF of a cold-blooded murderer? Not something I'd want on my resume anytime soon. I wonder how much the poor tax payers of Arizona have to pay her per hour?

IMO It's not rape 5 years after the fact just because you need to call it rape to justify murder.

There ya go...

She made up ALL this crap to justify to her family, the court, the world that is not just a cold blooded murderer who couldn't get what she wanted from someone...and killed him.
