Regarding Troy Hayden's post that JA will be in the same cell and the picture he showed of it.

Imagine that: same cell regardless of the sentence handed down by the jury.

The State of AZ sure spent a lot of $$$ on this phase. Worth it to the citizens of AZ when in the end the killer will still be in the exact same cell and won't be executed for many decades, and probably not ever? The only real difference will be the level of separation and isolation. Worth the $3M price tag or maybe it's up to $4M by now? Glad I'm not paying for that trial.

Last I checked, trials are caused by someone committing an illegal act, it's not like the PT or state arbitrarily chose to charge someone that has taken advantage of every trick in the book to avoid punishment, perhaps the blame should fall on the perpetrator and not the state?

Interesting that the first and last name is the same as JA's aunt, iirc...
Sue Ellen's actually a pretty common combo in the South (think Gone With The Wind) and in the 50's most of the girls middle names were Ellen or Ann. I had a teacher in high school that would assign you that for a middle name depending on the consonants/vowels in your first name, whichever went better with it...

To the Alexander Family and the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, it's worth it. If you're not a citizen of Arizona, why are you complaining???

BBM:

Not necessarily. Marissa DeVault (hammer killer) entered Perryville with a LWOP sentence in June or July 2014, and she already has a kitchen helper's job 35 hours a week... 6 months or less after entry.

I think it's designed for inmates to adjust to being incarcerated and the prison to evaluate them and place them in the right unit once a bed is available. She's been in jail 6 1/2 years. If Jodi behaves she will be out in the population soon if given LWOP

"I asked you earlier how you felt about paying to watch the Jodi Arias Sentencing retrial. I've been told that local media is preparing to broadcast edited highlights-i.e, opening statements, closing statements, Jodi Arias 2 day testimony and the verdict. The highlights will be free but will only cover a limited portion of the trial"

Wasn't it David Lohr who went and got all the interviews of Jodi with the police and posted it on YouTube for free? Maybe someone else like that will do the same again .. I hope so.

Great Jodi could be around knives again ....

Well, it's time for a verdict. NBC News in NYC reported on the wait tonight. It's been a awhile since I've seen coverage here (guess I've been lucky)...and would rather I didn't. I'm ready for JA to go away. Let tomorrow be the day that justice is served. Prayers for the Alexanders.

Okay, so this thread moves very quickly. You are all very amusing and I love your insights.

First post. I watched every day of OJ and have read crime stories since I was 12. I miss Court tv! Watched many a trial. After Tot mom I swore I would never watch again (call me bitter about that outcome....) and then I got sucked into poor Travis' demise. Watched with disgust as Nurmi and Wilma represented her fervently, though I know the chance of successful appeal is slim because of their representation. I have been appalled at the depths of Nurmi's tactics in this go round. Boomer who is just to the left of center, I do prefer she be given the ultimate punishment for her vicious, depraved crime. I do not want her to have any quality of life, including a tv and tweeting. She is a menace to society and most particularly to that poor Alexander family. I followed here and on FB during the trial and still am amazed at the support she receives.

I have been a clinical social worker and have worked with victims and their families. You don't need a degree to see who is NOT a DV victim in this case and who is, as you all have called it perfectly.

ps- I do have a crock pot, but I coupon and got super cheap frozen pizza for the kids tonight so I could be on here and I am having leftover turkey, squash, mashed p and carrots from our lovely sunday supper yesterday. All so I can be at the ready for the verdict if there is one.

I finally joined last week but just got posting rights last night. LOL

pss- I have no patience and am anxious for the jury to make their decision so the family can get on with their lives. What a never ending nightmare for them this has been.

Welcome Jen!!! Hope you enjoy the camaraderie, spirited discussions, compassion, magnificent insight and incredible sleuthing skills shared lovingly by this incredible crew here! Apparently, if you knit, sew or know how to cook in a crock pot, you are extra welcome. Glad you could join our fambly, such as it is.....
Looking forward to hearing more from you!

The choice to go for the DP is totally within the state's control. That has a cost associated with it, versus LWOP. I guess it's up to the citizens of that jurisdiction to determine if this was worth the extra spent on an outcome that is similar either way (same cell, same prison).

Asking if the costs are worth it is not complaining. I'm not saying it's not worth it...I'm questioning the costs. And I'm not saying what the value is to the victim's family, which of course would be invaluable.

It's a worthy question because it's a lot of money to spend trying to get one killer onto death row (and that's a fact, not a complaint).

I don't like how this person slams pay sites. She has turned them these sites into something offensive. However, they are providing a service for people who are willing to pay for the time and money it takes to assemble the wealth of information they offer. IMO, they charge a pittance: no way they could be covering their costs. These are dedicated professionals who work very hard.

Do you know what else, isn't this the Trial Diary girl who used to be a partner with (I think it was) Sheree, because I remember when their blog first started and they had a merchandise page where you could buy wine glasses, and wrist bands etc .. so she isn't really in a position to judge.

I don't like how this person slams pay sites. Why would buying a copy of the video record from the court and then posting on a paid site cause anyone any "concern"? She has turned them these sites into something offensive and unethical. However, they are providing a service for people who are willing to pay for the time and money it takes to assemble the wealth of information they offer. IMO, they charge a pittance: no way they could be covering their costs. These are dedicated professionals who work very hard. Even if I don't believe everything they say, there is nothing unethical about they way they run their businesses.

My distaste for 13th juror gets more persistent by the day....... I suppose, from the point of view he registers here, we should all be entitled to his book for free? I don't think he'd go along with that!

FGS.... CNN breaking news... The female that was to have been executed in Georgia tonight.... postponed :thud:

Kelly Renee Gissendaner's execution has been postponed because the drugs that were supposed to be used "appeared cloudy," the Georgia Department of Corrections said Monday night.

OK question, who is juror 13, I've been out of touch with goings on ..

What did Paul Sanders say? I didn't see him mentioned in this article/statement?
