I would like to see an accounting of who and what is being paid for this episode?
Having once worked as a producer for a radio talk show, I can say a pay check is rarely offered to those whose opinions are aired.
If a person was receiving payment, the show would have the right to hand them a script and the person would have to say the lines as they appear. And, that would certainly change the focus of the report.
And, for those wanting or demanding payment, the show wouldn't much bother with them as guests.
Just the opporunity of appearing to give their opinion or advance their professional or personal opinion or account of the case is worth a lot more to the defense right now than being paid cash money.
I believe 48 Hours is based in the relm of a "news" show. They should present both sides of a situation but it doesn't have to be in the same show. I would say the idea of presenting a defensive look at Casey Anthony would have a more far reaching interest to viewers at this time. Case in point: we're all talking about now and what we view as an injustice to Caylee. It's a hot topic.
To focus a show entirely on the evidence of guilt for Casey would not fetch that many viewers this close to the actual trial IMO. The aim of a program director would be to have the audience view the possibilty of what potential evidence could set her free. This would bring in more viewers in the light of considering most people already believe she's guilty. They are going for the shock value. Presenting the opposite of what people expect will happen to her in a trial would be more appealing especially when viewers consider it appalling this close to a trial.
