This is not a highly populated community. Plus it is late at night when fewer still would be awake. I wonder if the FBI can check the cell phone pings in the general area. There are probably quite a few, but not as many there would be in a large city or during the day. Cross reference these with motor vehicle records and see what corresponds to the vehicles being sought.

As far as questioning Jaymes age and needing a caretaker and switching schools; my opinion is that while she may be outgrowing that age now, she needed someone there for her in years past. That person was the aunt, so Jayme went to school closest to the aunt. Middle and high school are better times for kids to switch schools because typically thats when all grade schools join together and everybody is basically "new" so to speak. Makes sense to me why they switched her a year or two ago. Besides with the aunt moving, there wasnt any reason for her to contune going to that school. Iirc she now attends school within the district she lives in. I dont deny the possibilty of someone from the old school liking or even disliking Jayme. But I feel the "caretaker" part of it was simply the kid needed a babysitter when she was younger. Now shes old enough, so shes back in the district she resides in. Nothing sinister or special or odd to me. Jmho.

I think that's included with any unusual behavior or someone who has missed work. They said anything at all, no matter how insignificant it seems, may help. They have probably had dozens of calls saying, "my neighbor came home at 2:00 that night, or my ex boyfriend was acting strange the next day, or so and so didn't show up at work, or had scratches on his face," etc. They have cleared about 2000 tips. Not sure of the exact number but that's a lot of tips. Imo
Yes, you're most likely right.

Hi everyone. Keep up the great sleuthing with Jayme. I wasn't able to keep up with her from the beginning and have missed nearly all the discussion and info. from LE, so am not able to offer much. Ironically, I was visiting Wisconsin the day she went missing and got the Amber Alert on my phone. I was shocked when I learned her parents were murdered. I think about her family often. From the info. I have read in MSM, IMO I think Jayme and her mom were home alone that night and whoever did this, knew that. I think Jayme's dad came home as the person was taking her out of the house. I think Jayme and her mom were held hostage for a time and maybe the person was waiting for dad to come home. Unless I have missed LE saying for sure that her dad was also home in bed, this is just all IMO and probably very wrong.

"In the past decade, there have been a total of four killings in Barron County, according to the sheriff. Barron is the kind of town where screen doors are left unlatched in summer; in winter, few lock their front doors. Those days are over, several residents said."

"he said the whole community is on edge and “stuck in limbo” as they await more information. Meanwhile, she’s told her children to be aware of their surroundings, and her family is taking extra care to lock their door."
Missing Wisconsin teen: 911 call log reveals new details in disappearance of Jayme Closs

"People moved to the town because it is safe, but right now, they aren't feeling that way.
Many were taking extra precaution to feel safe.
People we spoke with told us Barron is a place you feel safe enough to leave doors unlocked.
Many added their doors have been locked since learning James and Denise Closs were killed, and 13-year-old Jayme vanished."
Barron community reacts to missing Jayme Closs

"Across Barron, a city of 3,300 about 90 miles northeast of the Twin Cities, people were locking their doors and adding security at homes and businesses. Some were talking to their children about keeping information off social media and warning against strangers."
and
"At Bushra Fashion Shop, owner Fadumo Hassan said she once walked all over town, feeling safe in the city where she’s lived for six years. Now she drives from place to place and locks everything. She’s been closing her store early, too."

and on and on. Like many areas across the united states there may be an outlaying drug issue, but it's not a den of meth heads. 4 murders in 10 years isn't what you'd expect to see in an area that is rampant with a meth problem.
Wow, I didn't realize there were only four in the last ten years. That's not much at all. That's barely one every two years. Although I think it was said there were two murder- suicides. No murders related to meth it seems. This would definitely be a first, if it's related. Imo

I posted info on police and cell phone drop earlier. Complicated by privacy laws. It would be great cuz small area

Although there may be a small chance of this happening, LE seems to be sure that he answered the door before he was murdered. Jmo

Thanks! I kind of got my theory from reading that he was at work during the birthday party and thought maybe he worked until at least midnight or went to a friend's house after work.

I've missed large chunks of case conversations on here so I'm not surprised I missed it. I figured the privacy laws might prevent this course of action. If LE could get the cell phone pings with the owners and upload into an Access database that would be a start. If a query into the WI motor vehicle records of the vehicles sought can be downloaded into Access as well then you have the start of a search. My knowledge of MS Access is rusty, but I believe the two DB's can be merged and then a query run for the matches between vehicle owners and cell phone owners.

The problems. Of course, the privacy laws might prevent obtaining the cell phone data. And what if the vehicle sought is not registered in WI - then the killer(s) vehicle won't show up. (Of course, if the query above fails then the analyst can query the cell phone numbers with an out of state area code.)

Has that been reiterated since the police log? Ive wondered what/how they believe the entry took place but havent seen anything. At first look the officer said James answered the door, just after the first officer said he commited suicide. My take, after the log was explained to me, was they were both speculating at that point. But I had not heard anything about it since so I didnt know they were sure about this?

In his radio interview, interesting to note that the Sheriff did not mention that the gunshots were heard by neighbors at 12:31AM relative to the response time of the 911 call. When asked about DNA left at the crime scene, his response related to the short amount of time (four minutes) that the bad guy(s) had at the home . . . Essentially he shortened the timeline to four minutes for the crime to occur / perp(s) in the home. Anyone else pick up on that or do I need to go back and listen again? (It was late last night when I listened :/ )

Edited for grammar :D

Some random thoughts and questions. I lived in a town of 700 people in Wisconsin and we locked our doors every night. During the day, if we were home, the back door was left unlocked.

In regards to James, has anything ever been confirmed about his activities on Sunday? I know it was mentioned that he had to work and didn't go to the party. Also, during the Sheriff's interview, it was asked if he'd been at the casino and I believe he said he didn't know.

If Jayme is like many young girls that I know, I'm wondering if she wore a t shirt and sweats or shorts to bed instead of pajamas. If so, maybe her cell phone was in her pocket.

Last thing. It's been discussed about her possibly meeting someone online but I don't know if I think that's what happened. Anyway, some phones allow your location to show up to your contacts. I'm not real sure how that works but would it be possible for someone to find out where she lived that way? Again, I have no idea if that's how it works.

Yeah, whatever the amount of time that the perpetrators were in that house, the implication was that it was for a relatively short period.

The timing of those gunshots heard by the neighbors, and this idea of a “four minute” time period, seem to be mutually exclusive.

Basically, he was saying that the neighbors must have been mistaken, and that 20 minute time gap didn’t exist.

That's what I think. Otherwise instead of emphasizing how quick it was he would have said something like, "we don't know what happened from the time of the gunshots and the time of the 911 call. So much can happen in 20 minutes and we hope to find DNA or other evidence." Instead he stresses that finding DNA is unlikely since the killers were in and out in about four minutes. Imo
