I'm not in the USA, however, aren't the schools there funded publicly? I know that here, schools can barely afford paper and pens any more, it's ridiculous. Funded by taxpayers, I'm pretty sure there would be an uproar if all students were issued chromebooks. But happy to hear about differences.

Yes, public schools are funded publicly. Teachers are paying for class supplies, in some cases, out of their own pockets. This is on top of the huge supply list that we happily supply each year.

So jmo: one sliding screen door, slid to left (when looking at photo).

Behind that: one stationary glass door.

Door on right: door that swings in. Can be opened in nice weather and sliding screen can be moved to right to cover open spot.

Stain looks to me like long neglected, weather related slime? I think the door jamb leaked from the top down the door. Or maybe someone stained door and put it back up before it was dry. jmo.

Wow I am really starting to think both front door and this door were vulnerable for a lot of reasons.

And I’m not seeing anything that even remotely looks like a deadbolt? Help me out there. That door latch looks super basic. Idk.

We had a doorbell on back (side) door of house when I grew up...Midwest. FWIW. OT but this photo makes me sad for a lot of reasons.

moo.
Interesting to me was the doorbell to the right of the sliding glass door. Is this the deck door? Or the front door? I've never seen a doorbell on a sliding door... made me wonder if that is where James was found? By the deck door? or the front door with all the steps? We've assumed (I think) front door with all the steps... but if the deck door had a doorbell, its possible that was the one they used more often.

French doors with a screen on the left side?

Totally freaked out now by the gunky drippy stain.
The "gunky drippy" stuff looks like something was thrown at the top of the door, dripped down and never cleaned up. My first thought is that it was "egged" ?? JMO.
Not birds (no nest above) and doubt a bad stain job since the door has clearly not been maintained. What else could get thrown at a door that would break, drip and leave a residue?

I have no idea of the houses layout but could it be the back door was on a lower level? I thought the garage was under the house, so there could be a lower level walk out? that would make sense for a doorbell in the back.

we have a ranch, attached garage and a door bell on the back service door but that's cause our kids friends use the service door instead of the front. no idea why they do

Water balloons might leave a film where water hit. Spraying someone playfully with a hose might... Water gun blast might....

My parents house had a similar side door (not patio door) into kitchen. We often used the kitchen door for bringing in groceries or to avoid tracking crud through the front door and onto the carpet. No side doorbell.

If you look at the first image here:
Imgur
If you look to the left of the doors, on the power meter - that pink thing is a retractable leash. Also, the left sliding door has a clean spot near the bottom that looks like dog scratching. What looks really strange to me is the right panel. What on earth is that gunky streak all the way down?
What bothers me first is who took these pictures and when?
Second thing that bothers me is the condition of the door. Look at the rest of the house. It has trim around all the windows and doors and looks like everything has been painted. Why is that door not painted? It looks like it was never sealed and its been weathered. There is no trim around the door. When was it put in and why wasn't it finished? With the rest of the house looking neat and finished that is just odd unless it was put in recently and James didn't around to doing finishing work on it.

I think it was established (from earlier photos) that there's no direct entrance/exit from lower level into backyard. Only likely lower level access would be from basement into garage and out from there.

"in the doorway of a bathroom hallway"

"Jayme's cell phone was found in the home, plugged in in the kitchen"
You're right... I said "the phone". I was remarking on the location of where Denise's phone was found. You know the one that placed the 911 call?

Why does it bother you so much with who took the photos. There is a new front door so it is recent. It is a pretty popular location. It is not a crime scene anymore. These pics were on imgur. There are other pics out there from random people showing carpet loaded into a truck at the house and things like that. I don't think that anyone can argue that it isn't the closs house.

It bothers me that someone is trespassing and taking photos of a home where people were murdered.

These are the actual electronic sniffing dogs that searched the Closs house. At the 2:00 mark it says that they helped recover a tablet there.
I never thought about *advertiser censored*. I first heard about them when they were used in our state in 2013 in the murder of Alexis Murphy. The suspect claimed Alexis was at his trailer and bought marijuana, but left. Investigators brought in an electronic detecting dog and the dog found Alexis' phone in the bushes just a short distance from the suspect's trailer. And the phone had been shut off. That dog's primary purpose, though, was in the state prison system. They would use the dog to do searches of prison cells for hidden cell phones in the prisoner's cells.

I think I'm going to take a break from patio door forensics for now. :)

So, I wanted to scan over the chain of events since the murders and disappearance of Jayme. Now, I know that The Daily Mail isn't always the pinnacle of journalistic integrity, but much of their content is Associated Press reprints, and they have the videos (including the Smrekar interview). Here's a list of tons of stuff:

Ok... so early on in this saga, we were being given all sorts of crumbs. The Challenger and SUV. The SUV with WI plates in Florida. The casino video request. The Smrekars (the closest thing we know of to having witnesses). 2000 volunteers searching Happy Hollow (why there?). The brother implying he knows who did it. K9 searches.

And then... *poof* nothing. All of those things suddenly became, "nothing to see here - move along". It's almost as if the Sheriff's Dept., WisDOJ & FBI turned into the JonBenet Boulder team. I don't think so. There must be a reason for this other than 100% ignorance about everything. I can't help but wonder if they actually know who did this, but that person (or persons) is also missing, or perhaps they don't yet have enough for a warrant? I don't know... just thinking out loud...

Just checking in today. Interesting new photos of Jayme. I wonder why these weren't released earlier? Yes, it seems that there is nothing new here except what has already been reported. I do wonder if someone is under their radar.....I am also thinking aloud here. It has never been confirmed if James actually reported to work on that day. LE has NOT released that time line. The Jennie O has a Jennie O Turkey Supply Store in Barron that rents out Bobcat excavation equipment. I wonder if LE has checked into looking to see if anyone rented a backhoe during this time and where they used it?? What do people use these things for? To dig big holes? You have to also have or own the property to dig holes.
