I think you've got it! A child can attend school where their daycare is too. If she was going to the caregiver's house before or after school, that would likely have qualified her for that district.

And just speaking personally, if there was a way to potentially get my kid into a better school district I would 100% use it. So if my kid's aunt looked after him occasionally and she moved to a better district and I could use that to get him in there, I absolutely would. Just thinking out loud. I know people have speculated the "caregiver" aspect could be very meaningful, but it also could be something very simple and boring, like getting her into a better school.

Just thinking... if Mom or Dad had ability to terminate employees at work maybe someone was terminated and extremely sick and felt they had everything taken from them and their family so they would go and take everything from the Closs'. This is my only theory- then the perp took Jayme - but I do not feel that Jayme was the intended target.

Coming to the front door in the middle of the night, armed with a weapon, and looking to fight, is very personal.

They wanted a confrontation , face to face. It is not 'burglar' type behavior.

I'm learning towards this theory as well. Per the Fox dispatch log article,

I'm not sure what "advised" means in LE speak, but in my opinion, the perp. absolutely knew what time James got home from work, and was probably lurking until he/she saw James go into the house. Then, almost immediately, the perp. knocked or pounded, and immediately kicked in the door. Why? James would probably have been closest to the door--he'd just come home from work.

If the perp had waited even five minutes, James may have gone to change out of his work clothes, sat down to eat, or done something else. Then, Diane or Jayme might have answered the door.

Unraveling the thread to the St. Croix Casino, why was one of the first calls to the casino?

The door was open, so no reason for LE to kick it in.

"Deputies arrived at that address a short time after the call ended to find no one around on the outside,” Sheriff Fitzgerald says as deputies approached the house, they saw the front door was open and there was a deceased male in that front door way. Officers later found a deceased female while searching the rest of the home.

If the front door not "kicked in" my the perp, I'm wondering if maybe the bathroom door was "kicked in" (i.e., to get to the Mum allegedly barricaded in the bath/bedroom). I do not believe LE "kicked" anything.... .MOO

We still don’t have confirmation she was barricaded in there. If that was the case, then it wouldn’t be at all surprising to discover that the bathroom door was kicked in.

Wow that's great. Mine bark at anything and everything.
Up until now we hadn't heard anything about a dog. Some can be annoying AF and some are not. I was just interested in the fact the dog survived and was wondering how it might have played out with a 13yr old girl who, I'm sure, loved that dog. Did the perp spare it's life because Jayme loved it? Or...maybe it was like your dog and posed no annoyance.

With regards to the casino. Aside from cameras onsite, many Native American reservations have their own "government" so to speak, including their own law enforcement. IMO it makes sense for them to reach out to these close neighbors for any assistance they can provide.

I am sure that sex offenders and co-workers were top of list for police, as in all case. As well as relatives and friends. Most perps can be found within those four groups, as a rule.

I am guessing (may as well join in) that Jayme may have had a routine where she went home with someone else (another local family) whenever both parents worked 4-12 for example, thus a “caretaker”. And then this family moved, it was working out well so she changed schools. All jmo

It's a possibility, if Mom was in the bathroom, but are locks on bathroom doors common? Maybe other people have them, but I don't have a single interior door with a lock except the one that goes to the garage.

Yes. locks on bathroom doors are incredibly common. I don't think I've ever been in a house that didn't have one.
