Interesting that Racine Doe had bad teeth.

How, exactly, were any of them mentally disabled? None of them look handicapped to me.. unless they're using that term to describe an emotional illness. Which, just because someone has depression or bipolar, doesn't mean they're "disabled."

Furthermore, how would they be able to tell if Racine Doe were mentally handicapped?

If I am remembering the correct case correctly, someone said it may be because her ears sit low on her head, which can be indicative of Down Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, etc.

''Mentally disabled'' is a very broad term. Most people with these disabilities look normal, just like you and I. A lot of people think it just means ''retarded'', but it actually encompasses a ton of different issues that leave the patient vulnerable unable to function as they should be able to. It can also be caused by drugs.
I've read that Laura battled mental illness and sometimes drug addiction since she was a teenager. Depending on the severity, she could definitely be classified as mentally disabled or a 'vulnerable adult'.

In regard to Racine Doe..

Most people with mental retardation fall into the 'mild' category. They might be a little slow to grasp certain things and be a little too naive/trusting, but they can function independently. You only really notice it by looking at a person when the retardation is moderate or severe. Sometimes you can just tell, even if you don't know exactly what it is.

My aunt is around 64 but is on the same intellectual/emotional level of a 5-year-old. She looks normal overall, but you can look at a photo of her and tell that something's up. She looks like a shy little girl. There's something about her smile, posture and her eyes that give it away.

I mention that because I look at the reconstruction of Racine Doe smiling and I can see my aunt in her. She has the same smile and eyes. There's something that makes her seem more vulnerable .. childlike, even? I've spent like 20 minutes writing this post and trying to find a way to explain it, but I can't think of one.

Just to clarify, Zelich is a saleperson/agent for LegalShield, he does not operate the website (I did some research just to make certain) or own the company itself, which seems fairly large and appears to employ a lot of agents.

I've seen some pretty bad reconstructions, but I've never seen one that looked like an extraterrestrial. Can you imagine if that drawing was what helped lead to the tentative ID?

The complaint says Zelich told police he met the unidentified woman while chatting online in 2012. They met in person in late 2012 or early 2013 in Kenosha County.

The complaint says Zelich admitted to causing this woman’s death during that meeting.

I believe the autopsy of Racine JD showed a brain deformity. Not definitive proof, but an possibility of cognitive impairment.

Yeah, that would pretty much explain it.
Now that you mention it, maybe the skull was so damaged that the artist had almost nothing to work with. Parts of it could have been shattered or otherwise beaten in so badly that parts of it couldn't be put back together for the artist to use. In that case, it's not really his/her fault (although I do question why you'd even order a reconstruction anyway if it probably would've turned out like ... that).

And on another note, so interesting to see Zelich's mugshot - gone is the facade of the clean cut, good looking guy from the personal ads..........can now see his dead eyes clearly. :facepalm:

Wow, just wow-

The criminal complaint against Zelich says Simonson was identified via her dental records.

When she was discovered inside the suitcase, the complaint against Zelich says they found a rope wrapped around her neck, and a sexual ball gag strapped into her mouth, with a collar. She was found to be naked.

The complaint says the second woman was found partially concealed in garbage bags.

Her hands were found bound with rope behind her back.

The complaint says both women were pronounced dead at the scene.

The complaint says both bodies showed obvious signs of decomposition — indicating they had been dead for awhile.
