Will Casey Testify?

Prosecutors in the case against Casey Anthony questioned two mental health experts under oath Thursday.

In court filings, her defense said they want the two to testify to rebut allegations about Anthony's so-called "consciousness of guilt."

"The linchpin is the defendant must testify, and it's unlikely Ms. Anthony will testify in the guilt phase," said Hornsby.

I agree with RH that Casey will never take the stand; however, I'd pay a LOT of money to watch LDB cross examine her in person!

I looked back at some of the earliest hearings where Judge Strickland presided. She said nothing, would not talk to LE anymore and even refused to provide a DNA sample to assist in the search for Caylee. The child she claimed was kidnapped. No DNA sample? That's all you need to know about ICA.
Nothing has changed. She would be demolished in seconds by JA/LDB
We see by her attitude in Court that she finds this all mildly amusing and irritating. It's just cramping her style to be in jail...

KC would love to testify. She would love to tell her lies and BS to another audience. She believes that she can continue her lies, turn on a few waterworks and convince the jury that she is innocent.

She can't but she thinks that she can. She believes that everyone worships the ground that she walks on and that they will all believe anything she says.

I would love to see the SA tear her a new one but that won't ever happen. Surely JB is not that dumb. It would be the biggest mistake he ever made and her getting on the stand and play acting would convince the jury of her guilt even if there was no evidence against her.

She did look worried today. She did not smile out of place like usual and her clothes and hair looked like she took very little time with them.

Maybe she is realizing just how bad her situation is now.

I am beginning to wonder if we won't see her plead guilty and ask the court for mercy on the first day of her trial. The same as when they finally had to go to court for the theft of Amy's money. JB will want to wait until at least then to garner as much media coverage for himself as he can. Or maybe they will wait until the trial is well underway and try to guage the feelings of the jury but if she takes this all the way, the court will have no mercy for her.

If getting on the stand and telling the jury it was an accident that she covered up would save herself from the DP or LWOP when all else has failed, I say she absolutely she would.

ETA: I think it is their ejection seat plan before the plane crashes.

I remember that also Marina2, and thanks for bringing that up. However I'm pretty cynical about anything BC has to say, because we have heard complete rubbish from him in the past regarding anything to do with the Anthonys.

I think they have placed weight on each and every piece of evidence they are fighting to keep out and have their defense already planned based on the outcome. I think she will be taking the stand with the accident story if the air sample/Chloroform and Cadaver Dogs get in. She has to.

Yes, I believe LDB would shred her, but her chances of survival are better than a 100% failed SODDI defense. She would have to take her last ditch chances. If she got on the stand and admitted to an accident she covered up, a few jurors may believe her even if LDB does shred her up.

ICA's fallback emotion is anger and that where I think she would go after questions and more questions and the opposite, the truth being rammed back at her over and over. There is no way ICA could remain calm through it - I can picture her being dragged off the stand by some very big bailiffs. So just take a minute and picture in your mind first LDB and then picture JA. Yowzers!

I don't think she will testify - it's not something Baez will suggest or agree to - he knows she is too much of a wild card - he couldn't trust what she would say, even if HHJP limited the areas of questioning. No way - it won't happen!

Just to clarify my thoughts about this, I'm not saying she should not testify - especially for "the truth to come out."

Are you kidding me Conway? This was during the time you were pretending ICA is innocent, wasn't it? If ICA ever told the truth she'd be looking at the death penalty for sure.

And to add, I thought Conway gave terrible representation for the Anthony's. He should have held them to a higher standard like Mark Nejames, and if they didn't cooperate after reading them the riot act - just stopped representing them. Instead he sat by their side, told some of the worst lies during some of the media shows like "there was no duct tape" - and quietly watched them interfere, try to coverup evidence, change their statements - the list just goes on and on.

I think it would be LDB because ICA likely reacts to women the same way CA does. LDB can really push CA's buttons easily. Having LDB come down hard on her will be reminiscent of sparring with her mother. I'm sure she had no problem blowing George off, but not mommy, who easily got completely under her skin and straight for the jugular.

I know, I remember all those things he either sat on the fence about or just plain went along with the 'A''s, truthful or not but regarding his statement about whether she "should" testify, he's right. I agree with it completely. I am saying "she should" but I don't know if "she would". Seems to me, if she wants any kind of a chance at keeping the needle out of her arm, she had better start fessing up. Even if Baez does not agree with it, he cannot stop her.

You have a point. The little girl that cried "wolf" too many times would not be believed now. I don't think LWOP is going to be her fate though. The State didn't put the DP back on the table because they wanted to scare her. They did so because this crime even as young as it was at the time merited this severe a punishment and I believe she will get it unless she spills the entire truth.

The jury might find it more logical than a SODDI defense. If she has nothing to be gained by the SODDI defense, then why not the accident defense, even if the odds were really really bad?

Now you see that's where you and I differ in opinion - right there. I think LDB would be ICA's nemesis.

I think ICA always "bested" CA - most of the time CA believed her lies, or avoided facing them, and ICA believes she is better and smarter than most women and I also thinks she will be able to manipulate them to believe her. Look at what she did to her BFF Amy.

I don't think ICA could stop herself from sparring with LDB - she would try her usual tricks thinking she could one up LDB and wham! ICA would find out what going for the jugular really means.
