It seems to me that the car might have actually been part of the kill kit. Was this the same car he was stopped in previously? If not, there might be some other "abandoned" car out there with his "real life" stuff.

Benbrook, TX, is where he got a ticket July 7, but I can't determine what car was stopped, or whether the ticket was paid. Going halfway across the country in 2 weeks is certainly doable, but it begs the question, "Why?" Sure, it is a straight shot up 40, but still. Of all the places to go, he picks that one.

In 2005, he payed a Clark County, Nevada, ticket... for failing to use hand gestures or something odd like that.

Echoing the upthread comment, how he arranged internet access is certainly one of the more important questions.

I was thinking along very similar lines....wondering if he had all those tools in the car because they were his most precious possessions. If he was basically homeless and living out of his car, maybe he kept them with him at all times, never knowing when he'd have to make a quick getaway, with all his items with him.

Also, that backpage list of names and numbers. If he didn't have regular access to the internet, maybe he would compile a list of several names at a time, to keep him fueled on potential victims until he could gain access to a computer again.

Not for nothing but are still a great many businesses that leave their WiFi "open" or use a check-in page you just have to agree to. You can often be parked in the parking lot and get enough signal to use the WiFi without ever entering the Establishment. Google on "war driving" and you'll get an idea how common and easy the practice is.

Interesting idea about the car being part of the kill kit, like a work vehicle.

Interesting idea about the car being part of the kill kit, like a work vehicle.

Like Ted Bundy's VW. Remember, he had removed the front passenger seat and kept a hammer or crowbar in the back, along with the rest of his kit (rope, ski mask, gloves, etc.) He would lure the women to get into his car then, as they were opening the passenger side door, he would hit them with the crowbar and push them into the back.

This guy probably had a little different set up, considering he killed women inside their homes or other building. But it looks like he could have used his car for transporting them after they were dead. That kit is scary, and pretty obvious.

Maybe i'm being obtuse here, but if he was this car as part of is "kit" and he has another car, how does he transport both around the country. I guess the obvious solution is to steal a car, but i've read no mention of him doing so.

The question of internet is easy though; most smartphones can be used without a wireless plan simply as a PDA/IPod which have wifi capabilites that can connect to any public wifi at a variety of businesses and restaurants. An old laptop could achieve the same result.

Bumping carbuff's post of the google map. Perhaps carbuff or someone can update to include VA, KY so we can keep track of NF's known locations in order to search for possible victims. (One of these days, I promise I'm gonna learn how to map and post them to WS. I'm in too much pain from psoriatic arthritis to think straight today though.)

I added the Louisville KY and Benbrook TX sightings. https://goo.gl/maps/8xF9m

The quick and dirty way I've been doing this map limits me to 10 spots. I'll have to make a more advanced map to get the rest in, but I'm going to be away from the internet for several days and won't be able to do it until I get back. So if somebody else wants to tackle it--please do.

I'm sorry your hands are so bad. :(

I doubt if he would transport both around the country. He'd probably leave one in his permanent base and take the other on his spree, then get rid of it somewhere. If this vehicle is registered to him in Oregon, though, I would be inclined to doubt that theory. On the other hand, they said there wasn't any ID, money, etc. in the car, and we know he had to have something, so that seems to indicate another car, a camp, or something that he could go back to.

I am wondering about that... How was he planning to get his victim to the car? Wait until dark? Maybe he just planned to leave her there & the tools were for a different kind of murder. Having the axes/shovel/cuffs doesn't seem consistent with a spree killer. Maybe there was no plan. And why was a homeless guy driving all over the country? If he was living out of his car, I am pretty sure he has not been in my state (SC) the last two months - too:hot::hot: hot to sleep in a car.

Fair point. The one pic I've seen does show what appears to be an Oregon plate on the SUV. What we don't know is whether that plate is registered to that vehicle.

Instead of stealing, though, since he has at least some skill with ... uh ... social sites, he could pick up a beater from Craigslist or some other site easily enough.

Another strange thing that's been bothering me is that the lack of cash/credit cards meant that he really didn't have a plan for just doing the transaction and leaving. If he got spooked, he would have to bail out before it was necessary to provide the funds.

Along those same lines, how was he going to move the person to the car during a relatively active part of the day - mid to late afternoon? That's a time when anyone could have come along and interrupted him at an inopportune moment. Then what does he do?

He really left a great many things out of his control by doing it this way. Keep coming back to complacency or rookieness.

Maybe the shovel wasn't to bury the victim, but to bury/dig up his stash or he could have rented a storage unit somewhere. Without an income, I am inclined to believe he buried his belongings somewhere secluded.

We asked the same question at the same time! :D

My question is...where's he getting all this gas money? He went from Texas to (maybe somewhere else, to) West Virginia in 1 week. He was in Virginia a bit before that. How could he afford to travel across the nation while living out of his car?

Also, I used to have to use google maps to make many maps in my previous job. If someone can compile a list of all the cities NF is associated with (There are so many different ones on the internet that I don't know what's what anymore), then I can easily compile all those cities into one big map.

Is it possible he siphoned gasoline from other vehicles so he wouldn't have to pay for gas?

actually, why have four pairs of handcuffs unless one plans on holding four people at once somewhere?

as callous as this sounds, can't a serial killer re-use handcuffs?

did he have plans for a torture chamber somewhere? that would explain the handcuffs and the list of names if he planned to get them all within a very short period of time

Exactly, I could be totally wrong, but I think this guy was likely a first timer who intended to kill as many people as he could before being killed / apprehended by the authorities.

More Richard Speck than Ted Bundy.

For example if he was only going to kill one woman, than have his cooling off period, why have four pairs of handcuffs? Why have the names of six others victims on him? If he was really just picking escorts from a newspaper or website, couldn't he just wait a week or a month until he next felt like a new victim, then check the classifieds again?

And his list wasn't a Randy Kraft type scorecard of people he had already killed - he hadn't even spoken to them over the phone yet.

He apparently was living in his car, and had no money.

Like I said, I could be totally wrong, he may have killed before, but either way, it is excellent news that this brave lady prevented him from hurting anyone else ever again.

and what if there are victims somewhere secluded too? alive or dead?

Temporary map created:

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=zGhzL-89phl0.kTPjWkUB5zl0

Also, I color-coded the map. Here's the key:

"Click on any of the dots for information regarding Neal Falls and the corresponding city

Red dots indicate law enforcement sightings. Green dots indicate where Neal Falls previous addresses are. Yellow dots indicate where bodies or body parts were found. Black dots indicate any other times or places that could be relevant to any further information"

If I'm missing out on anything or if there's any other information to add to the map, please be sure to let me know. Again, click on a dot for any information regarding that place and it's relation to Neal Falls. Some places have more than 1 dots over them (Henderson, Lebanon, etc)

[EDIT] An answer to why NF had more than 1 set of handcuffs: You never know how many people you may encounter in a potential murder. NF doesn't know if there's more than 1 person in a house when he enters, or if more than 1 person may come across him during the act.

many places offer free wifi now & also there are open access hotspots all over the world - people don't even have to look for unsecured connections
