I agree, and I'd like to take it a step further. Maybe LE is telling them things KNOWING how they will react to them, and what conclusions they'll probably draw. Maybe it's not that they're directly encouraging them, but they know if they give them certain information, most likely they will draw certain conclusions and take it to the media. LE can then say they didn't tell them to go talk to the media about it because they didn't. They just shared information and then let them do what they wanted with it. I think that is what is going on here. LE can distance themselves while at the same time keep giving them certain info and letting that info get out into the media through the parents while not telling them to go to the media and release that information.

Thus they get extra pressure but also get to say they didn't tell them to do that or agree with what they say since they let them draw their own conclusions and go to the media. I think it's a case of here's what we have, now you think about it and decide what you want to do about it. LE can wash their hands of it, and Kyron's parents are the ones who get the flack for going to the media, not LE. And since it's been mostly DY and KH at the forefront, even TY probably knows what LE is doing, and he is keeping quiet and staying in the background just like LE is.

Except that MCSO has said specifically, directly, and without qualification that info stated by Kaine and Desiree did not come from them, and even issued a press release to say it. For example, (and note the capitalization of the word 'NOT'):

There will be no comment from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office regarding the information reported during the Horman/Young July 8, 2010 press conferences. The information released in during these conferences did NOT come from the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

Well, it had to come from somewhere, unless DY and TH are just making everything up, and I don't think that's the case. Besides, LE has been double talking the whole time. For all we know, DY and TH came to certain conclusions about pieces of info LE gave them, and it's those conclusions that didn't come from the Multnomah County Sheriff's office, so they can say that that info didn't come from them. I have a feeling they are relying on words and phrases that can technically be correct, so it's okay to use them. I don't think DY and KH pulled all of this stuff out of thin air, especially with how they've been meeting with and talking to LE a LOT. That doesn't make sense to me.

I find it perplexing how some people are ambivalent about the truthfullness and accuracy of things actually reported by LE on this case yet seem to think of Tony Young, of whom we know nothing, as brilliant, trustworthy, cautious, honorable...etc. He may be all of those things, but we don't know that for sure. He is a very biased, human person in this case, no matter if he is a cop.

I don't think LE is feeding Desiree and Kaine information. They may have said we have not been able to speak to Dede yet, and that, to D&K, could well translate that she won't speak to LE and is not cooperating. I find it hard to believe that LE is is running to K&D to keep them up to date on every little twist and turn in their investigation. I do think it is possible that K&D draw conclusions based on emotion.

I want to know if all parents are "signing off" on statements before they are released to the media?

I definitely see a fishing line being baited. I just think they are fishing for a different "fish."

IMO, it is not information LE is giving anyone but someone is considering any question they are asked as a fact from LE.

LE ALWAYS rules out the ones closet to the missing person. With Kyron, that would mean Kyron's parents. Part of ruling them out is questioning them.

I could see a situation where LE asked if Terri was known to go to ABC Coffee Shop. The person asked not knowing why LE asked assumes the LE has evidence that Terri went to ABC Coffee Shop. However, LE asked because there are two shopping centers close to a cell phone ping. Located at one of the shopping centers is ABC Coffee Shop which has has video cameras. If Terri has been there before, they want to view those videos but if she goes to the coffee shop across the street, they don't want to expend manpower to view those videos.

That question then is reported LE said that Terri went to ABC Coffee Shop.

IMO, that is the problem. With all the "details" that seem to be coming out, I think many of the "details" were questions. However, there is no way to know if the questions were facts or investigative tools to rule things out or lies to get a reaction.

IMO, I do not think that the parents are intentionally lying. I do however think that there one or more may be too emotionally involved to be able separate actual LE "briefings" from LE investigative tools.

IMO, LE's hands are tied because saying too much about what is coming out could harm their investigation.
