I don't live in Australia, for what it's worth, and censorship can actually aggravate some psychological problems. (And, for what it's worth, I'm not the one of us who has chosen a fictional serial murderer, from a show that in which he is a hero that glorifies violent psychopathy, as his/her alias! If there were the kind of censorship you were championing above, there would be no Dexter TV show.)

Dexter usually goes after serial killers after researching their guilt. Same as sleuthing the possibilities. So thats why I picked this username. Nothing more.

Is she being disrespectful? or is it me? Glad hubby was never exposed to that, or that I know of. :( Maybe just me though. IMO.

They fascinate me too.

Is she buddies with them? or did she connect with them through the protests? Two completely different things, considering the circumstances.

Total buddies. She used to be a protester for months. And then decided to start streaming since she was there protesting anyway. RebZ is her roommate.

I think I am missing something. Because she was a protester she is buddies with bassem?

No, but she is very close friends with him. She and RebZ are roomies and they travel with Bass and are very close friends. I follow their twitters.

Whole new ballgame!
Schellman says one of the men pulled a handgun and pointed it at the officer. The officer fired several shots, striking and fatally wounding the man. Schellman says that the second person fled and that the deceased man's handgun has been recovered.

Much more @ link.

wonder if the protestors will listen to the facts? nah - i don't think so.

hopefully l/e will be able to handle it differently w/out the politicians imo.

LE maced the reporter twice. Not the best judgment.

These "reporters" have been covering the protests for months now, why on earth haven't they bought gas masks after all of this time? Do they WANT to get maced/gassed for the drama?

Police will release surveillance video of this incident at 7 CT this morning.

First off, there is a difference between being maced and gassed. There's much less control over being gassed, but the reporter was maced (by the time I stopped following it, 4 times).

Second, this really sounds like victim blaming to me. The reporter was clearly indicating that she was a reporter, her hands were up, she was maintaining distance from the LEO, and retreating. And yet, she was still maced. It wasn't crowd control; it was punishment for being there, and frankly, an LEO is not mandated to provide punishment. (The LEO clearly knew he was in the wrong, too, as she repeatedly tried to get his badge number later, and he covered up his badge with his hand; IMO, any LEO who does that should face disciplinary consequences.)

She was NOT maced, not even once. She admitted later that night it was pepper amperage[sp] and NOT mace. And it never got in her face. She was totally fine. She was being a drama queen.

And she is not a 'reporter.' She is a protester who decided to start filming with her i-phone. She is not a reporter just because she films the event.

It was pepper spray, not mace, yes; I was using 'mace' in the general sense of a spray. (I think you might be recalling when she was talking about initially thinking tear gas was used before finding it it was pepper projectiles, though, as she did say that her skin was burning from the spray.)

Second, this really sounds like victim blaming to me.

If you repeatedly put YOURSELF in situations where mace or gas are likely to be used (and has been used) then taking steps to prevent getting hit with it is NOT victim blaming it is just plain common sense most especially if you insist on being at the forefront of the action so you can film it.

Doesn't matter if it was pepper spray, mace, or tear gas, a full face gas mask protects against all of them and can cover your face in an instant.

Yep that's what I thought he said... Oh boy this isn't gonna be good.. At all... Yet this officer wants respect in return?

The Man is out there working, paying taxes and hopefully paying his way. Heck, yeah he deserves respect. Maybe not from people that cannot recognize that he's a human being but from people that share his values? Yup!

It really cracked me up how 'outraged' the marchers were, when the cop said that. Yet for the past 3 months they have screamed FOK DA POH-LEECE
right in the cops faces. But one cop says the same in return, and their heads explode in anger. LOL

Oh no . Thank you all for getting a thread going so quickly. To say we live in interesting times would be an understatement.
This is scary and every day seems to be ratcheting up a notch. Pray for peace !
