JB objects to state having a say, JP says, what I want you to do is tell me if Dr. L is qualified in hair analysis.
JB says yes and no, (I'm losing it people, need lunch). JA stands up, JP says you will get your chance, JA sits down, JP asks for the short answer, JB says yes he is qualified, 20 hours estimate for hair analysis for separate expert.

JP grants request. ONe last remaining issue to be discussed in camera, JP wants a hint, if he can, JB says no. Grants permission to have CM and JB to have a sidebar with a court reporter. Thats what I need, a side bar well stocked.

And there we have it Folks..Baez just stated he has an expert in DNA hair banding...and that it's a relatively new science...But that's OKAY, the Air Samples on the other hand are not...

Judge granted Baez's request for a separate hair expert but warned him if Dr Lee comes in with an opinion, the Judge warns- "it may back up on you." The face the Judge then made at Baez is PRICELESS! LOL!

I'm not sure if it is within their rights to do it, but I was hoping that JAC would ask JP to request that the defense to provide proof of the % of work completed.

IMO Judge Perry will be checking on that. He has stated numerous times that he will in fact be scrutinizing all records related to this budget business & the JAC. I just do not see them taking it at face value, at least I would hope not! Besides the JAC court Rep. seems to also be on top of things. :nono:

Are GA and CA there?
No they're not present. Kathi Bellich (WFTV) is there in the front row behind the prosecution. Bob Keeling (WESH news) is there sitting on the defense aisle seat.

"We are now being asked to fund an expert with a particular opinion, not (one) in a given area" JA. Baez wants a million dollar+ defense funded by the public, IMO!

I think this case will set a precedent for indigent defendants using public funds. The sky is the limit.

Pretty much. The sky, minus two Pontiacs.

FIrst, Someone please ask how much money has been paid to these experts by JB! NOT how much time they have spent. Then they should take the money's paid and multiply by the % work claimed to be completed.

Second, unfortunately, what makes this case unique and extra expensive to defend, is NOT that a mother killed her daughter (in cold blood, without any remorse) but the fact that the mother and her granparents denied, lied, ugly coped, ugly groped and ugly spoke their way through this whole ordeal. If the case is so special, it is because the defendent, her family and her boys, made it that way.

Someone asking for state money to continue a case that should be well underway (and was well-funded) should not be estimating actual hours spent on any given task - those should be absolutely quantifiable. The fact JB has been lazy with his accounting records of time and resources actually spent makes his estimation of what may be required going forward seem extremely unreliable, imo.

No I don't think so because Judge Perry is really all over this and seems to take judicial economics and tax payer funds very seriously. He has implemented caps and limits etc. He will ride the defense, scrutinze very closely IMO.

Casey has asked to waive her 'fishbowl' appearance at these meetings, per CM.

  • #755
Casey doesn't want to be involved with this ? Too bad.

  • #756
OMG!!!! KC wants to waive her requirements to be at these hearings.
Gag me. She doesn't want to be there, and be in that fishbowl.

  • #757
OH,,, the media discussing her hair, what she wore, her expressions, the poor dear.

State argues the motion

  • #758
SA wants her there.

Thank you, that is exactly what I was saying earlier. As unpleasant as it is, this is not the first time a child's body has been lying out dumped somewhere while the parent(s) lie about the child's whereabouts. Horrible, disgusting, but not unique. The rest of this case is just sideshow.
