I like this witness...didn't he teach the defense's entomological expert at University? I bet his lectures were interesting.

Jeezz. The body was double bagged and the bags were closed. How long was the body in the trunk?

I did not care for Dr. Haskell the first few minutes - Too many "SOs and "thens" but after having some water, he seems more alive! He is also looking at the jury! He seems to be doing a good job!

What in the world is JB is amused at? His expressions are killing me here. I have to remember that the jury will not remember all these facial expressions and smiles and will only be able to read it back on paper. ugh

The source of the decomp fluids in the trunk could not have been in the trunk very long. Whatever was in the trunk had to be out of the trunk by the time the car was abandoned. That 3, 4, 5 days would have been sufficient to produce decomp fluids to attract the flies.

Noticing that ICA doesn't look at all upset by the testimony of decomposing material, fluids, body, flies feasting, etc. - from the look on her face Dr. Haskell could be discussing anything. The words "purged fluid" didn't make a blink on her face. Now talking about the impact of heat on the process.
No reaction at all.

I love listening to this guy talk!

I think NH will do well in cross, but who will do it?? maybe DCS?

I'd actually like to see them. I'm very interested in the placement of the duct tape in relation to the mandible. But I am also pretty morbid too..
Publishing ME pics of remains is against the law in the State of FL. It also goes against the Judges' orders .It's a big deal. JMO

Amazing! His estimation of how long body was in the trunk fits perfectly with my timeline.

  • #191
JB always gets that smirky, amused look when testimony is really worrying him.

  • #192
This is an interesting witness... can't say I like bugs though.

KBelichWFTV: Dr. Haskell said he believes Caylee's body could have been in the trunk of Casey's car for 3 to 5 days [via Twitter]

this testimony must be bothering him, maybe he will cross then. This is good stuff, and that makes him nervous, imo.

So impressed with this witness - how could anyone even suggest he doesn't know what he is talking about!

  • #196
ICA is listening very intently to the discussion of the flies and their life cycle. "When I get out of here, I have to remember all of this. Next time I won't leave them in a hot trunk so long."

  • #197
establishing how heat effects life cycle of fly.

(that is in the report on maggot thread)

He traveled to see trunk himself. Came on 16th of DEC. but consulted with LE from 11 DEC to 16 DEC for collection of specimens. He talked to impound guy. (burch? IIRC)

During what part of the testimony yesterday was she 'breaking down'? And how is THIS not having any affect? She's back to not a care in the world, this doesn't concern me......blah blah blah yada yada yada.....where should we go for lunch....

  • #199
MOO (and I don't think they would even bring this up, as it's speculation.)

I think ICA got Caylee out of the trunk to bury her when she borrowed the shovel, and that is when the flies got access to her remains.

This gross but the Cold Hearted one cries over the mention of her baby's skull, but does not flinch when she hears bugs were eating her precious baby's flesh. Can"t say anymore about ICA. God Forgive Me for my thoughts.
