Why do all the defense witness examine pictures of the evidence or conduct a study with items similar to the evidence instead of examining the actual evidence? This has always bugged me time and time again.

I have a strong feeling that Dr. Vass could entertain himself for days with just a golf pencil & scrap paper----Brilliant, driven people don't get bored, in my experience.
I just wish we had a 'Vass-Cam' to entertain us during this hair bit...

Okay, let me get this straight. During Pros CIC Baez objected and won the power point presentation not being presented. So, during the defense CIC is going on, he questions the same witness, asks questions that wind up allowing the prosecution to present the slide slow he earlier did not want in? Do I have that right?

As a juror, I wouldn't care so much about the hair. Caylee was wrapped and the trunk cleaned out. I would be a lot more concerned about all the people who said the trunk smelled like a dead body!

Hair stored outdoors in a shaded area...decomp found at root end, but it was not post-mortem banding. Banding must occur just above the root. In this case, the root itself appears to be decomposing. Subtle differences only a trained expert could recognize.
