As a reminder, there's also this re BK's time in High School and him being removed from the law enforcement program:

"A situation occurred where a complaint was made and the teacher reported it to me and said...an investigation needed to be conducted," Carmella-Beers explained. "Other students were interviewed, Bryan was interviewed, and, you know, there comes a time when decisions have to be made, whether it's the decision the student wants or not."

She continued: "He was removed from [the law enforcement program] and transitioned into HVAC [program] and then, at the end of that 11th-grade year is when he decided not to return as a senior."

Carmella-Beers would not elaborate on what Kohberger had been accused of, but did note "what had him removed from the program when I look back on it now, makes sense."

It's true! We are beyond furious at the State of Idaho. They have failed us. Please give us some time. This was very unexpected. We appreciate all your love and support.

We may understand their feelings better when some of the evidence is revealed.

Good. Its really better for all involved.
I so agree. If this went to trial and he got the death penalty, this would be “endless” appeals for the families having to deal with him. I understand that some families wanted the death penalty, but I hope in the long run they can be able to accept this and start their long grieving process knowing he will be sitting in a cell for the rest of his worthless life.

I fully understand their feelings. As a mum I know my instinct would be the same if someone hurt one of my children.

I can just also understand the need to weigh up their feelings, the feelings of the families against the DP and the impact of the trial on the other room mates, their friends and everyone else.

It doesn't make their devastation any less valid, but it is just one part of the picture.

This is literally shocking to me, I truly can’t believe he would take the plea deal at this point in the process. I’m sure it’s a very difficult time for the families on how they are feeling about all of this 3 years out. Damn, I cannot imagine.

A death sentence would have kept this case in the courtroom for years if not decades.

No appeal.

I wish the families were part of the conversation and not notified after....

In the end, he'll die in prison, after a life in protective segregation for his own safety, no doubt.

Write the book about him the day after the pine box.

While we remember MM, KG, XK and EC.

Did the victims’ families have any input into the plea deal?

I'm shocked. I never imagined this turn of events.

This was all part of his game. He wanted the families to suffer for as long as possible. He knew he was going to do this. COWARD.

Glad the judge didn't allow for a delay because no doubt he would have drug this out even more.

I'm thankful that the two roommates won't have to testify which I'm sure would have been very traumatic. Everyone involved can start the healing process.

OH MY GOD. I hope that includes his having to allocute the crimes
YES!!! Absolutely!! To EVERYTHING and I pray the judge asks questions.

I'm a bit on the fence about this, BK pleading guilty to murdering Kaylee, Ethan, Maddie, and Xana and sending statements to their families (???) less than 2 months before his trial.

But I also think it makes sense in terms of him / his defense team pulling out all the stops to try to build a case that he was innocent over the last few years to avoid a conviction, and now reading the writing on the wall that his goose is cooked, so close to trial, that they told him and he has accepted it's a No-Go.

And perhaps his family (as well as his defense team) has been imploring him to plead guilty since his guilt is so obvious (IMO) so he wouldn't be subject to the DP if convicted at trial.

Still, IMO, he has effected the maximum amount of carnage he could and devastation of the victims lives, their families, community, state, and society at large up until he tucked tail and ran, waiting until the 11th hour to pull the plug, and ruining some of the victims' family members hopes for justice (assuming the DP being removed as a possibility as part of his plea -- apologies, haven't read all the details yet).

So I personally am not able to be happy about this, because it's too little too late, IMO, and smacks of his ongoing manipulation and gaming the system for as long as he can until he can't.

Just MOO

ETA #1:

I'm extremely cynical about his motives if he's hoping this plea is seen as him providing a scintilla of what looks like justice for the victims and their families and community he has attempted to destroy IMO, and I wouldn't be surprised if down the line he throws in the towel and says he was just bluffing, he gave a false plea because he was pressured so heavily and had run out of options for precluding getting the DP.

So I hope there are some airtight clauses in the plea agreement that he can never take this back, and then I might see my way to being happy he has FINALLY admitted to what he did, the depravity of it is still just mind-numbingly awful, IMO.

ETA #2:

BK's always had this in his back pocket, IMO, and saw the writing on the wall, went as far as he could trying to see if he could get away with their murders before crying uncle and ducking the DP, cuz he never planned to die for what he did to the four of them who died. Despicable doesn't even cover it, IMO.

*jaw drops*

Wow....just. Really and truly wow.

Selfishly, I do hope that the evidence against him does come out in terms of things we have seen argued in court and wanted to understand (not talking about the gory details):

--more info on the knife sheath DNA (I want it settled HOW MUCH DNA was on it vs the Howard Blum it was only 20 cells stuff)
--more info on what the next door neighbor security camera saw in terms of DD driver and timing to BK's car
etc

Of course, I suspect that the Goncalves family will not be holding back when it comes to the details they know, but I don't know if they have access to some of the more technical scientific details.

Best thing that happened in this case was that Dateline episode and other things that came out in the last month or so. Like the Door Dash driver. KB’s case was sinking fast. The pressure ramped up big time.
I wonder what the Kohberger Innocence Insisters have say now. Knowing he is guilty of killing four young people.

I wonder how the Probergers are going to deal with this.

They will still be delusional and proclaim his innocence, just like the supporters of Richard Allen in the Delphi murders case

Also, AT needs to go crawl into a hole now since she's proven she's nothing but an utter embarrassment to the legal system. The fact that she even hinted that someone else was responsible for this just a couple of weeks ago. She's a joke.

Bryan Kohberger, a 28-year-old student, is accused of murdering four University of Idaho students in November 2022. The murders occurred at a home near the campus in Moscow, Idaho. Kohberger was arrested in Pennsylvania and charged with four counts of first-degree murder and burglary. The murdered students were Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. They were found stabbed to death in the home they shared. Moscow police, with assistance from the FBI, investigated the case and eventually identified Kohberger as a suspect. DNA evidence played a significant role in linking Kohberger to the murders. Kohberger, who was a doctoral student in criminology at Washington State University, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
