Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #201

have we heard the BBM portion via reports of testimony at trial or just DT's opening statements? Because I don't know anything of the sort. JMO
All from MSM, not thin air. We first learned from the affidavit for a search warrant of RA's home that autopsy ruled their wounds were caused by a sharp object — leading investigators to believe a knife was used in their murders (Autopsy not released). Later, more during the August ritual kill hearings, and then by defense in their opening. Ultimately, the ME will confirm the neck wounds as will the autopsy report. MOO

It looks like the document was edited 3 times. The first time, he wrote "I am ready to officially confess". The second edit is adding "for killing Abby and Libby". The third edit appears to be "I hope I get the opportunity to the families I'm sorry."

He was probably told that he had to specify what he wanted to confess to, and then was asked whether there was anything else he wanted to add.

Why do I think this? Because the word "for" is in the wrong place, and his signature blocks him from adding the girls names on the lined space. OMO

This is reporter’s sketch from evidence he was allowed to see before the trial started, so things may be somewhat off.

“there’s no path here, we got to go down here” is very interesting to me.

No mention of a gun being chambered as we have heard in rumors. Very interested in the rest of today’s testimony.

It was not the whole video. So maybe the state is waiting to show that portion (if you can indeed hear the sound of a gun cocking) after further testimony.

WTHR has some updates about the testimony of Railly Voorhies, who saw a man on the trail that day near the Freedom Bridge, and also from a forensic examiner who achieved a frame by frame breakdown of the video from Libby's phone:

Voorhies said she passed a man near Freedom Bridge on her walk home, which she said she had to be home by 2:30 p.m.
Voorhies said she waved and said hi to the man she passed, but Voorhies said he did not wave back and "did not seem to be a happy person."
When Voorhies heard about the missing girls, she thought it could have to do with the man she passed who seemed unhappy.
When the prosecution asked Voorhies to give a description of the man she passed, Voorhies said he was overdressed for the weather, had on dark clothes, his face was covered, he was wearing a hat, he was Caucasian, he had a running mask over his mouth and up to his nose, and he had his hands in his pockets.
From the same link:

‘When the prosecution pulled up a photo of the "bridge guy," Voorhies said, "That was the man I had waved at on the trail."’

I don't dispute the wounds were caused by a sharp object or blade.

What I don't know, even though some are stating it is a fact, is if multiple blades were used. the state has never indicated that multiple blades were used. That appears to be a construct of the defense who stated that two blades were used in these murders during their opening statements.

I know that some put more stock in the words of the defense team than others. But until I hear that someone has said two blades were used under oath, I don't consider it a fact. JMO

Except it wasn't just sticks, I've read where one large limb was ~3X Libby's height, which would put it at ~15'. And it was laying next to her. I'd think if someone was trying to conceal bodies, they'd use a LOT more sticks, brush, and leaves to cover them. Not a few oddly placed sticks and one really long limb. To me, it wasn't to camouflage, it had another purpose, but what? JMO

I’ve often wondered if he was gathering wood to start a bush fire which could’ve delayed discovery of the bodies for days. Then he was forced to abandon that plan upon realizing people were nearby and already calling out for the missing girls.

But considering the crime scene, this guy was not playing with a full deck, possibly battling mental health issues combined with alcohol or even drugs so it’s impossible to rationalize his thoughts. Who knows, maybe he thought he was decorating and making everything all pretty with the branches and limbs.

This is something that just came to mind for me. Is there any way those large sticks might have been actually used to help hold them down? I saw a sketch of what it looked like and to me it kind of seems like some weird way to make it easier to keep them where he wanted them before he killed them.

This is from WISH TV's live trial blog about the testimony of ISP Lt. Brian Bunner:

Bunner explained the process of cell phone extraction to the court, which included retrieving the phone, manually examining and photographing the phone, extracting the data with tools by plugging it into a computer, putting data into a different software, then processing that data into a report.

Bunner said the report for Libby German’s phone was several hundred pages. After creating the report for Libby’s phone, he told the jury he handed it off to detectives. “(I) wanted to get that information off that phone and into the hands of the investigators,” he said.

Bunner said he looked through Libby’s camera roll and found the “bridge video.” He also mentioned the camera roll was the phone’s “last user activity.” The approximately 35-second video was taken between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2017.

Bunner told the court he took several screenshots of the video to send to detectives. State prosecutor Nick McLelland asked if in the pictures, could he see a man behind Abby.

“No,” Bunner said.

“In the following photos, can you?” McLelland asked.

“Yes,” Bunner replied.

This is the "see the trail ends here" video that they are discussing. Is this different from the "guys down the hill" video? Because he testified the man was not seen behind them in the screenshots of the video, but was seen in later images. Or maybe I am misunderstanding the reporting.
bbm
That was discussed by us on WS also threads and threads ago: why wasn't the BG seen at a certain time and then suddenly was? We even suspected, BG might have climbed up the bridge from below, possibly exactly there, where planking was missing on the bridge .... I remember.
At least, it is interesting to learn about this oddity now. Hopefully we will.

This is new:

In the video, the girls are walking along the bridge and Libby says, “See, this is the path. Um, there’s no path there so we have to go down there.”

Twelve seconds later, “bridge guy” says, “Guys.”

Abby can be heard saying “Hi” very timidly.

Then came the line: Bridge guy says, “Down the hill.”

The video then is sort of thrown around and cuts off.

I’m really looking forward to seeing if these are coherent and corroborating confessions or haldol fueled gibberish.
RSBM
You and me both! I’d love to compare the confession note that was shown today with the letter RA wrote following his arrest asking for help in getting a public defender. I wonder how similar it looks. Not questioning that he wrote the confession, but like you I’m wondering what state of mind he was in and his writing style in the confession note may speak to that?
