Abby & Libby - The Delphi Murders - Richard Allen Arrested - #202

To me, his prison letter moved the needle a lot. He clearly wrote to the warden that he wanted to confess to murdering Abby and Libby, and that he wanted to apologize to their families. You can't get much clearer than that, IMO.
The reason that doesn’t do it for me is because if the reporter’s drawing is accurate, that writing does not look like it came from a person who was thinking clearly whatsoever. He doesn’t even account for how much space is available in the name field. The spacing is very strange. He writes below the ‘do not write below this line’. Granted, other than his letter asking to throw himself at the court’s mercy, I can’t claim to know his usual writing patterns nor how he usually fills out forms, but the looks of this note (in my eyes) does more to support the mental health decline that one might suffer as a result of his imprisonment in solitary confinement of a maximum security prison, i.e. confession under duress. I also understand that there are many more confessions to come in this trial, but for me personally, this one doesn’t solidify RA as the killer just yet.

IMO

Dr..Roland Kohr is on the stand.

Kohr explained to the jury the steps of an autopsy, which begins with being contacted by investigators and learning about the case, then later performing examinations of the bodies.

The first autopsy was performed on Abby. Kohr noted Abby’s clothing, any physical injuries, and performed a rape kit. He said that Abby had a 1-inch deep, 3-inch long incision wound on her neck. Abby showed no signs of blunt force trauma or restraint wounds. He said that though the rape kit showed no “overt injury patterns,” it does not mean that sexual contact didn’t occur.

Edit to add Libby 's info:

Libby German’s autopsy was performed second. Kohr also noted her clothing, physical injuries, and performed a rape kit. The autopsy report said Libby had anywhere from three to five incision wounds on the right side of her neck, the largest being around 3.5 inches. She also showed no signs of overt sexual trauma or defensive wounds.

Kohr estimated that the girls died approximately 41 hours before the autopsy

Somehow the cold, factual wording, makes it even harder to read. Grateful for the work of Dr. Kohr and all the medical examiners across the world, it is a truly tough job, IMO.

Tadah!! A PRECISE (enough) Time of Death! I hope this puts all the secondary location theories to bed.
(Now if only the reporters had the time the autopsy was performed, that would have been excellent.)

According to Carbaugh’s account, the man’s clothes were bloody and muddy, with blood visible on his lower legs, feet and ankles. The rest of him was muddy—as if he had fallen down a hill or into a muddy creek.
……
Carbaugh waited three weeks to contact police. She blamed her inaction on trauma and panic, telling the court she was “overthinking” and “having a moment.”

She saw an officer taking tips at a roadblock and saw that as a “sign” to reveal what she had seen. She helped police identify her vehicle on cameras from the Hoosier Harvest Store.
…….
“I understand you’re doing your job,” she told Baldwin. “I saw a man on the side of the road with mud and blood, and that’s that.”
…….
During jury questioning, she said her car was “less than three feet” away from “Bridge Guy.”

He knew he had been seen after 3:30 p.m. so that is probably why he told DD in his first statement that he was on the trails from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Who knows? The proof of what she said is apparently missing.
And now, through MSM, we have 2 versions of what she said to choose from.

The jury isn't going to hear the FM so ?

Well the proof is in the transcript, which the D obviously couldn’t be bothered to read. If they’re too lazy to review transcripts, they’re certainly not going to waste time listening to hours and hours of raw interviews had it been available. Their mission was simply to misinform. The D ought to be deeply ashamed for all the incorrect facts contained in the FM which they attempted to feed to the public, whether the jury hears it or not.

Wonder who the group of people with BG were, as the word "included" to me means he was standing with that group, and the girl in pink, I hope they have all given statements they could be crucial witnesses
I think we have to wait for a clearer understanding of what she testified to. There are already conflicting statements by MSM. Just adds to the confusion. I lay that at the feet of the person who could have eliminated that confusion and frustration. JMHO

Do we have a time the ME did the autopsy to be able to calculate the time the girls were killed “approximately 41 hours prior” claim?

Also interesting to me - and maybe not new to anyone - but they did die within the same time frame of each other - not like hours later or anything.

Let me guess…..oh but “approximately 41 hours” could mean 29 hours! <sarcasm>

TBH, I had the same thoughts when I read his letter to the judge asking for a pro bono lawyer, in 2022. He was not on Haldol then (that we know of), but he was writing over the prints of the letterhead, writing over the margins, and using language I found overly-dramatic. I truly think that this type of chaotic writing is his propensity, and it didn't get any better when he was writing down the worst thing he has ever done - imagine the emotional strain?

The girls died approximately 41 hours before the autopsy? Who is good at math?

The wounds being described as “incisions,” coupled by their length and depth, makes me think that not only was one weapon used, but that it was a box cutter.
Exactly my thinking. If one of the 'incisions' had different patterns, it could be - one slash going left to right, if right handed, a downswing. And then in the upswing - right to left, as he gets ready to strike again - there is another slash, only this time with the rough edge of the box cutter.

So sorry for the graphic nature of my theory.

“He said that though the rape kit showed no “overt injury patterns,” it does not mean that sexual contact didn’t occur.”

Misreported (?) in the Franks motion as “…were not sexually molested.” Innocent mistake? Did the doctor change his story as part of a conspiracy to frame an obscure pharmacy worker?

He knew he had been seen after 3:30 p.m. so that is probably why he told DD in his first statement that he was on the trails from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Or he didn't think that last hour would matter like it does.

Assuming he's guilty (I can assume. I'm not a juror.), only he knew what time the murders occurred. He attempted IMO to conceal the bodies, in a natural depression covered with sticks, so assumed they wouldn't be found quickly... I think he just didn't think about all the ways LE can corroborate times, pinpointing some events to the minute. Libby's recording especially. Which memorialized the abduction at 2:13/4. He didn't expect that.

Without her recording, determining the time and manner of their abduction would have been harder to determine.

Kohr’s deposition included information about the attack and speculations on the girls’ reactions after being attacked. He said in the February deposition that he couldn’t determine if the killer was left or right handed. News 8’s Kyla Russell said Rozzi showed upset in the courtroom after Kohr admitted being uncertain with a few of his deposition answers and did not file a new report.

This is from the Wish TV live blog I linked above with the autopsy info.

SC also admitted that she was scared, there was a killer of 2 young girls still on the loose. She would have been in her late 20's at the time.

I can understand why she would be a reluctant witness, her being named out there and now having to be on the stand testifying has most surely caused tremendous stress and grief in her life. SC is a victim of RA, as well as all the other witnesses.
