Most cases-I would never say put the defendant on the stand, but if the defense has seen the prison videos they can show the jury just how heinous his treatment may have been, it could be worth putting RA up to testify.
His treatment was not heinous.
He made it that.
Did he come forward as the unknown person who parked at Freedom Bridge that day?
Of course not.

Classic passive aggressive behaviour. I hope his wife is able to obtain counselling to untangle their unhealthy relationship so she can be freed at last, regardless if he’s convicted or not MOO

During a call on Nov. 14, 2022, Allen told his wife if the situation became “too much,” he’d talk to investigators and tell them what they wanted to know.

His wife, Kathy, replied, “You need to just hang in there.”

“I’m sorry, baby,” Allen responded. “It’s just one more thing I 🤬🤬🤬*** up for you.” He told her he loved her.

I don't think they need to. The videos probably speak quite loudly on their own imo. I hope they show the world what kind of h*ll RA has been living in - as an ACCUSED! Its outrageous! I see no need to risk the stress of putting RA on the stand at all - too many things there that could go wrong. Much less risky for the D to keep him quiet at their table imo.

We got some new sketches today from inside the courtroom of the Delphi Murders Trial. This one shows the large screen pointed away from the public so only the jury can see videos of Richard Allen inside an Indiana prison.(Courtesy: Li Buszka)

Not sure where I saw she wouldn’t let in but 3 videos but I see at least the jury did in fact watch several and from reports some jurors had some unpleasant facial expressions while viewing. I can only hope it shows exactly how RA could have been driven crazy enough to make those “confessions”. IMO that’s the only reason he did, after all there was nothing in them that only the killer would know.
To me it shows he could murder.

As an accused where half the inmates want to kill him any chance they get.

I have to disagree. It absolutely proves RA is bridge guy especially with the video Libby took.
Proves he's bridge guy. But how do we know bridge guy killed the girls I think is the point being made here?
You then have to move onto the reliability of the bullet evidence. If you're happy it was his then that's about as much as you are going to get I think.

Maybe especially with someone bent on self harm.
Was he not shackled being led on a leash by at least 2 guards-but hey when 1 is pre-occupied and has one hand on a video cam…Again has there ever been anyone else to be treated this way that you are aware of. I know the prosecution psych said said this was unusual and not good for his mental health

Even if the D's theories make no sense, the state has the burden of proof - to me, its sorely lacking here for the State.

The burden of proof gets mentioned a lot but in reality there’s no measurement of what BARD actually involves. IMO the bar can be risen and lowered solely based on the behaviour of the D during the trial. Foolish scenarious make a DT look desperate and if the DT don’t believe in their client’s innocence, why should a jury? MOO

I know I'm preaching to the choir, but a defense team does not need to believe in their client's innocence. That is not part of their job and the jury doesn't need to consider if the DT thinks the defendant is guilty or not.

Poor phrasing on my part. They’re asking her to grant an exception to the rule, and it sounds like she is refusing because she doesn’t feel like they’ve given enough rationale as to why the exception should be granted. Their lack of planning is not good enough for her to grant the request, is how it appears.

Simply declining the motion for remote testimony, without a written reasoning, imo, gives the impression (to me) that she doesn't care about the witness in question - his current work, the travel he must endure to appear etc. Its unreasonable that she has denied it imo. It gives the appearance of just being difficult towards to the D - moo. Perhaps a written decision may have helped me to better understand why she opted to decline it.

When you threaten self harm you enter protocols to prevent it. Suicide smocks for instance. Also you have to be completely contained during transfers - the risk is greatest then.
They have to guard against things like him launching himself down stairs and (maybe even taking the CO with him.)

This one resonated with me, as it was by far the least ambiguous.

The call from May 17, 2023, was between Allen and his mother.

“Did Kathy tell you I did it?” Allen asked his mother.

“We’re not going to discuss this, okay?” his mother, Janis, replied. “We love you. You know that, don’t you?”

“Regardless?” Allen asked. “I’m just worried you guys aren’t going to love me because I said I did it.”

Just saying it doesn’t mean you did it,” his mother said.

It does when I did,” Allen replied.

Ricky, they’re just messing with you,” she said.

No, Mom, they’re not,” he said. “So if I said I did it, you wouldn’t love me anymore?”

“I will always love you no matter what. You can count on that,” his mother said.

will you still love me if i did a bad double murder is abusive behaviour IMO.

just amazing stuff.

I believe the D DOES believe in his innocence. Even if RA were guilty, their job is STILL to defend him - and frankly, I think they're doing a fantastic job! moo
