Wants attention. It's an attention seeking way of doing a crime. Therefore he is likely to want to follow the press coverage of the bomb, so can perhaps be manipulated if you use the press yourself.
Intelligent. If you're an arsonist you just need to know how to use a match. To use a bomb you have to be brighter and know how to make one.
Somewhat courageous - the bomb could blow up in your face.
If there is a common denominator between victims then you can study that.
Not very sociable
Probably liked tinkering with devices when young. Maybe tried some practice bombs in the backyard. Can ask the public for information on this - though FBI not very willing to go public with such things.
Not insane. Hand-making bombs requires logical focus and hours of work
Like any killer, wants power and domination."

I agree with the profile of the bomb maker, he would have had to make prior bombs to test them and make sure he made it right or it wouldn't work. The question is if he made them, and tested them, he'd have to do that somewhere extremely rural so as not to draw attention to himself. He'd also have to be intelligent enough not to blow himself up in the process. Once the FBI ATF figures out what was in the components of the bomb i guess we'll know. It seems the force of the bomb was directed towards the engine, and the doctor being on the other side of the tire and engine when moving the tire; well that possibly saved his life.. So whoever put the bomb there put it facing away from where the doctor would be to remove it. Maybe they didn't realize they did that?..

I really don't think we're looking at a disgruntled doctor who targeted him because of his work with the medical board. Why would the perp target ONE doctor on the board? How could he be assured that there was a need for a tie-breaking vote? It would seem to me that if someone wanted to affect a case before the board, he'd target more physicians - or at least one that normally votes.
If it is someone who has ties in some way to the board, at least that means whomever did this, isn't just targeting people randomly.

Maybe they should look at docs who have a military background and would tend to be more familiar with EIDs.
Also, there are a number of physicians with mid eastern ties practicing in the midwest. Families could come into play.

I agree that it could have been random SoobsinMI, that it is a possibility.
But then I consider who the victim was, and if he was the intended victim, I tend to think it must either be something very personal or related to his work in some way.
I think the type of explosive used is important. Not just that it was a tire bomb, but did any component of the bomb require home hand made parts?
Did someone just take a gander at an internet website, come up with a way to construct a bomb...kind of like wikihow 1-2-3 easy steps website, and throw together a few items needed, or were the parts created and designed by the bomber?
Even if it was a hastily constructed bomb some thought went into the making of this bomb, where to place the bomb and the consequences of the bomb detonating. Sounds like there may have been a lot of fantasizing about this crime. Dunno.

I wonder how common it is for spare tires to be used in Iraq as EIDs? It would seem to me to be something they would use for that purpose.
Making any bomb would take planning and time. Coming up with the way to deliver it without the victim being aware would be the easiest part, imo.

I don't know. I will ask my Husband this evening when he comes home from work. He did one tour for 13 months and the last tour was 15 months. He might have an idea.
