Absolutely.

And Otto, you appear to be a man of wisdom and integrity with a good laymans knowledge of the law.

I enjoy your sense of humor!

So does anyone know are we getting a free night from GG appearing on talk shows or is there one on the schedule? JB sure lost it on GR's program which will not look good for his client so maybe that it why it's so quiet, IMO.

GG may be guilty of nothing more than making a bad choice swimming ashore not unlike Ted Kennedy.

Not unlike Ted Kennedy. This is really interesting, because although I'm inclined to give GG the benefit of the doubt, and have some thoughts that he is innocent in Robyn's disappearance, I don't think I've ever spoken to anyone who thinks Ted Kennedy is innocent in Chappaquitic. Or however you spell that.

I am curious to see how or if this affects GR and JB's relationship. I got the feeling that JB was mad at GR for being blindsided by him. I think JB expected an easier interview for his client. imoo

Once again we are getting alerts in this case because posts are focusing on other members rather than what happened to Robyn.

For those of you who have been around a long time, you probably know what I'm going to say next. Yehp. The next time anyone decides to get off track and complain about another member's opinion, they will get a time out. Doesn't matter what side of the fence you're on, just that you're getting personal.

If someone is annoying you, there are two options. 1) Alert the post and 2) Use the ignore feature.

Please notice that there is not a third option of "taking matters into your own hand".

Thank you and this post lands at random.

Thank you and what does "this post lands at random" mean ?

I think JB thought they were friends and was not taking into consideration that GR is a reporter. It's in his blood and if he can get an exclusive and it cost him a friendship, so be it. I'm sure he has lots of friends.

You have to wonder though. What does that say about GR's real opinion of JB???? I would think that if he highly respected JB he would not have conducted the interview the way he did. Nope GR a reporter all the way and everything else runs second. As far as future friendship, IMO that ship has sailed. lol jmo

You know what still bothers me is GG's statement that he is having difficulty swimming and in the water it could be anything causing the difficulty such as you are weaken and only know that you are having problems. He did claim in one interview not to know what was wrong only that he was having difficulting swimming. You would think with his shoes weighing him down he would have at least taken them off and used them to swim with or just let them go. There are plenty of sneakers for sale in Aruba. So for me the sneaker issue is still a problem and I wish he would answer those questions. jmo

It is my considered opinion that Jose Baez is a professional and he has duly rehearsed with GR exactly the content that was broadcasted over the air.
Mr Baez will have laid down certain rules that his client will have to adhere to.

There will be more interviews when deemed necessary.

JMO, of course.

I notice that you fall short of declaring her not guilty as the law would require you to do.

A jury, duly appointed by a judge, found her not guilty of the main charges against her.

In the eyes of the law, she is not guilty and the constituttion requires that she be afforded that right and liberty.

Do you deny her that ?

The Constitution requires that the government treat CA as not guilty (except for the minor charges of which she was convicted). The Constitution does not and cannot dictate my personal opinion.

Now, could I deny her service in a store or restaurant? I'm not sure; you'd have to ask a lawyer. Could I refuse to employ her? Again, you'd have to consult an attorney. Even if I couldn't refuse to employ her because I believe her to be guilty, I might very well be able to refuse to hire her to avoid the distraction of having her around.

And I'm certainly entitled to hold an opinion contrary to the finding of the jury. Still not a lawyer, but I don't believe you could win a defamation suit against me, not even for saying so out loud.

Since the American system does not distinguish between "not proven" and "not guilty", a "not guilty" verdict cannot be assumed to mean anything other than that the prosecution failed to meet its burden of proof.

Re the statements that GG made to the Aruba police - do we get to 'see' those now, that they have let him go? or do you think they are still investigation him in the case? Sure would be nice to see those statements and compare them to GG's statements from the talk shows!

Also, is there anywhere - video or transcript of Geraldo's interview??

TIA! :seeya:

I'm sure a certain amount is rehearsed but they certainly did not rehearse with RF and whatever JB said to him with their little back and forth. Did it not get a little heated? I think it did and professional status is one thing acting professional is another and I did not think JB was professional by stating he had access to FBI files on both RF and RG. Really, what was that all about. My personal opinion is he is not on a talk show tonight because he is busy licking his wounds.

It's also obvious JB has little control over GG. GG just says what he wants on a whim, without much thought of how is sounds. Such as the ticket agent told him the "Charlotte airport is closed because of a storm just North of the island (Aruba???). Charlotte is in NC and 6 hours inland so why would a storm North of Aruba shut down the airport in Charlotte??? That just made no sense at all. There are the little details that we all pick up on. And what one does not pick up on another person catches. "Many hands make light work." An old saying but so true. jmo

GG is considered entirely innocent by law right now, but the Aruban authorities have said that he is a liar and that they will continue to try to resolve the case. Their only suspect is GG. I have seen the pro-convicted person phrase used on this forum before. It's quite shocking, but it happens. Sometimes the convicted person has so much support the victim is truly lost in the discussion.

-bolded by me-

They of course have no choice but to say that, it would be strange to hold him for almost 4 months and then say we do not think mr Giordano did anything wrong, we found no evidence he commited a crime etc.

yes i agree
There obviously not enought to bring charges
Does not mean he is innocent or guilty, it just seems to be a fact

Many employers do background checks and based on an arrest and conviction involving check fraud, plus lying to LE I'm not sure anyone would be able to hold down a responsible job that in some way involved money or processing personal information of clients. Just too risky for an employer.

Now as far as GG, he has not been charged with anything so it would not apply to him. I'm not sure he had ever been arrested. jmo

An opinion is an entitlement, to deny a person their judicial rights without restriction becomes debatable.
Legally Unsubstantiated Burden of proof translates into Not Guilty.

What happened on GR's program? I would have loved to see that. JB didn't get mad at his old boating buddy did he?

BTW, and OT, that is a VERY common tactic for military prisoners of war, too. So even trained grown adult men can fall prey to the lie that "your wife has remarried since you've been gone", "your country isn't even trying to get you back", "your family has died".

Do we have any statistics as to how successful such claims are?

Personally, I wouldn't think them effective except in very rare cases and then only after the subject had been in captivity for many years. And note that you are talking about cases where the prisoner has been kept in physical confinement, shut away from all news of the world.

I allowed for that possibility in my hypothetical. But having to keep a Natalee Holloway physically confined 24/7 (and yet attractive enough to please customers) would be a very expensive undertaking.
