Absolutely.
And Otto, you appear to be a man of wisdom and integrity with a good laymans knowledge of the law.
I enjoy your sense of humor!

GG may be guilty of nothing more than making a bad choice swimming ashore not unlike Ted Kennedy.
So does anyone know are we getting a free night from GG appearing on talk shows or is there one on the schedule? JB sure lost it on GR's program which will not look good for his client so maybe that it why it's so quiet, IMO.
I am curious to see how or if this affects GR and JB's relationship. I got the feeling that JB was mad at GR for being blindsided by him. I think JB expected an easier interview for his client. imoo
Thank you and what does "this post lands at random" mean ?
I notice that you fall short of declaring her not guilty as the law would require you to do.
A jury, duly appointed by a judge, found her not guilty of the main charges against her.
In the eyes of the law, she is not guilty and the constituttion requires that she be afforded that right and liberty.
Do you deny her that ?
GG is considered entirely innocent by law right now, but the Aruban authorities have said that he is a liar and that they will continue to try to resolve the case. Their only suspect is GG. I have seen the pro-convicted person phrase used on this forum before. It's quite shocking, but it happens. Sometimes the convicted person has so much support the victim is truly lost in the discussion.

Re the statements that GG made to the Aruba police - do we get to 'see' those now, that they have let him go? or do you think they are still investigation him in the case? Sure would be nice to see those statements and compare them to GG's statements from the talk shows!
Also, is there anywhere - video or transcript of Geraldo's interview??
TIA! :seeya:
The Constitution requires that the government treat CA as not guilty (except for the minor charges of which she was convicted). The Constitution does not and cannot dictate my personal opinion.
Now, could I deny her service in a store or restaurant? I'm not sure; you'd have to ask a lawyer. Could I refuse to employ her? Again, you'd have to consult an attorney. Even if I couldn't refuse to employ her because I believe her to be guilty, I might very well be able to refuse to hire her to avoid the distraction of having her around.
And I'm certainly entitled to hold an opinion contrary to the finding of the jury. Still not a lawyer, but I don't believe you could win a defamation suit against me, not even for saying so out loud.
Since the American system does not distinguish between "not proven" and "not guilty", a "not guilty" verdict cannot be assumed to mean anything other than that the prosecution failed to meet its burden of proof.

BTW, and OT, that is a VERY common tactic for military prisoners of war, too. So even trained grown adult men can fall prey to the lie that "your wife has remarried since you've been gone", "your country isn't even trying to get you back", "your family has died".
