Found Deceased AUS - Tayla Spies,29, white 2017 dual cab Toyota Hilux I’d also missing. Left a hotel in Daley & travelled west to Surat, Queensland, 2 Feb 25

I found this thread and there seems to be some good information in here from people!

<modsnip: No MSM links to information stated as fact>

Opinions
- she met foul play.
- the QPS who mentioned a backpacker is IMO a diversion to allow suspects to think they are not being looked at

My Prayers are with TS family and children through this tragic event.

Thankyou for allowing me to join, and admin if i have made a boo boo please moderate as fit, this is a fantastic resource for anyone missing!
AFAIK, the only person quoted in the media to mention a backpacker/hitch hiker was retired former detective Charlie Bezzina, from Victoria.

This was only a theory of Charlie Bezzina. He often makes random comments in his Herald Sun column. I'm not sure, but think he can say whatever he likes in a column. He doesn't have facts. Bot Verification

Yeah, it's essentially his opinions, from a former insiders view. However, I haven't seen any that are ground breaking, they're usually pretty straight forward.

So can someone clarify for me that the ute she was driving she picked up during her stay in Dalby? How did she get from Roma to Dalby? Who’s ute is it?
Her boyfriend took the trip with her but they went in separate cars?

I can't work that out either. @mishy66 references picking the ute up in this post.

Edit - It was said earlier in the thread that she arrived in Dalby on the Thursday and her BF arrived on the Friday, so separate vehicles. But it doesn't seem to be known how she got to Dalby, if it wasn't in the Hilux.

If you look back a couple of pages you will see we wonder the same Q regarding how she actually got to Dalby to pick the car up, and if in fact she did leave from Roma to get to Dalby.
That's debatable.

It was her business car her sister said and an employee had it.

An earlier post said she had a legit mail and package delivery service, as an aside.

She arrived in Dalby on Thursday.

He arrived Friday.

The Car.

The reasoning behind why Tayla was in Dalby that weekend.

When asked about the car, the sister said she picked up the car on the Thursday from an employee and that it was her work vehicle, she was the employer and that was why she went to Dalby.

How did Tayla get to Dalby in the first place ? From Roma to Dalby?

Her sister said she wasnt going to drive all the way back to pick up TN on the Friday, which is why he drove his own car into Dalby.

All very odd
@Mandala

To be fair, he is a retired investigator. He can't actually give facts to a case that he is not actively involved in and that police haven't announced.
He was just speculating about the back packer theory. It doesn't mean he actually believes that himself.
I took his speculation as, someone else may be responsible for what happened to Tayla.

"A backpacker" , "a person unknown", "another person not yet revealed by the police "

Just my observation.

Just a thought.

Tayla might have picked up a few fruit/meat/produce/whatever packages in Dalby for customers in or near Surat.

A delivery drop may be why she popped into Surat quickly,

She may have even changed into a work shirt (white with purple writing) just prior to dropping off the first delivery, If it’s her delivery business she may have wanted to appear professional.

She may have had more to drop off between Surat and Roma.

If the deliveries were fresh produce or meat, and they were left in the back of the ute in the heat, it would be putrid inside that car, and/or the tray.

I don’t know what she delivered but it may have been based on customer requests and could have been perishable groceries not so accessible in Roma & Surat.

Could show that she was on a schedule that day too, as she didn’t appear to be fluffing around on that route home.

An earlier post by another sleuth said she did legit mail/package runs

It could be her employee had her car for work earlier on in the week and thats why she picked it up from them Thursday.

Probably like a Aust Post contractor does in other small towns. But not sure what the company was, maybe her own small business???

Pretty sure that this was the reason she changed her shirt. Took off the pink one, changed into the white one with purple writing because she was a mail delivery contractor and possibly ran one of the PO in the town she lived in.

Possibly it was mail and packages in that large red bag she was seen carrying to the car.
Mail and packages would be heavy.
She probably placed it inside her Motel room and not left in the car outside, because it would be safer.

Could also be a local Roma delivery service.
For example, Western Wholesalers in Roma recruit delivery drivers and their company colours are white, green & purple.

Could be.

I'll stick with my theory that she was a PO contracto,r possibly ran it herself and not in the town of Roma

Agreed. In most of these type of articles their hypotheses are not really ground breaking though, and obviously they have to be careful in what they say in an active investigation. I'm not bagging him, or others like him, it's just that they usually don't have any real insight they are able to share. It does help keep cases relevant and in the news so that's definitely a positive.

Tayla could have been a courier for any private company in the area, as an employee, but more likely as a contractor with an ABN (Australian Business Number). She has in the past held an ABN but it appears to be cancelled. She could have started up her own courier service, complete with uniform, or attached herself to anything that may be available in the area, like Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.

Back in the day I used to do postal deliveries in my car for a contractor of Australia Post. I delivered to country areas and didn't have a uniform, despite being connected to Australia Post and delivering on their behalf. No red uniform, no hi-vis gear, just my regular clothes.

No, I know you weren't.
I was just mentioning why he may have said that, for others who aren't familiar with who he is.
