Are they seriously bringing this Birthday kerfuffle up again? It's like she is complaining about it and wanting to look like 'the victim' because someone supposedly forgot to invite her.
I have never heard a better reason for murder - they didn't invite me!!

What's scary to me is that Erin comes across as a truly fixated individual. Fixated on perceived slights. Fixated on specific incidents that Simon and his family forgot long ago. Fixated on people like Simon and his family when they don't react the way she wants them to. Fixated on the relationship, even when they're separated. It's terrifying.

 😳 :(

Asked where the mushrooms came from, Ms Patterson said: “The vast majority came from the local Woolworths in Leongatha,

Ms Patterson said there were also mushrooms from an “Asian grocer” in Melbourne.

[Did she admit she added foraged ones too?]
If I’m following the lies correctly, the current one is that she was storing the stinky dried “Asian grocery” mushrooms in a Tupperware container with a mixture of mushrooms she had previously foraged and dehydrated.
It was from this mix of dried mushrooms, plus the fresh Woolworths mushrooms, that the beef Wellingtons were made.

It does seem odd that a mushroom connoisseur would just throw all different types and flavors of mushrooms into one container….but I don’t believe a word she says….as far as I can tell she is now just trying to make some lies fit together.

She told the jury she felt confident enough about her research that she began feeding wild mushrooms to her children, cutting them up really small so they couldn't pick them out. 😳

And I think it was you who said (way back) that she might say she had a container of dehydrated regular mushrroms, and a container of dehydrated Asian-store mushrooms, and she mixed them up when adding to the duxelle.

But she went even further than that. She put all of her dehydrated mushrooms together, no matter the source. Because she felt so confident in her ability to recognise non-dangerous mushrooms.

imo

“ Vast majority” is unusual term, IMO, for ingredient in family cookery.

Where did you buy those salad leaves … the vast majority are from Woolies.
Where did you get these lovely cheeses- the vast majority is from Woolies.
Your eggs are delicious - the vast majority are from Woolies
These tomatoes are lovely - the vast majority are from Woolies

Maybe it’s an Australian thing - just doesn’t sound right about the cooking of mushrooms.

Vast …. Majority - thinking beth large numbers, like the vast majority of people live in urban areas.

IMO - she needs to tell her story of her “innocence” and silly mistake. On cross examination there will be brain fog, diversion and rambling non-answers to yes/no questions.

Erin says she foraged for mushrooms at Korumburra Botanical Gardens

By Joseph Dunstan

Erin is asked if, when she went foraging, she had anyone with her.

"The kids were with me during the COVID period, so 2020, the lockdown periods 2021," she says.

She says the children generally ran around and "did their own thing" while she was foraging, but "they definitely saw what I was doing".

Erin says she recalls some oak trees at Korumburra Botanical Gardens and she believes she foraged mushrooms "near to" those trees.

She says more generally, she took the mushrooms she foraged home, cleaned them, and if she wasn't planning to use them that day, she sliced and dried them before storing them in a tupperware container on the shelf.

"Erin says she recalls some oak trees at Korumburra Botanical Gardens and she believes she foraged mushrooms "near to" those trees."

So now she is admitting foraging mushrooms NEAR some Oak trees? Wouldn't she know not to pick 'shrooms near Oaks?

Even I know not to touch mushrooms that are growing near Oak trees and I have never foraged.

Yes and mixing smelly ones in with non-smelly,
Like putting a strong smelling cheese in a same Tupperware unwrapped with mild ones. Or, garlic bagels in same bag with cinnamon raisin.

It's not Aussie-normal. Means the same thing here ... vast majority of the mushrooms means that some portion came from elsewhere.

The next step will be telling us how she added some of the container of mixed dehydrated mushrooms into the duxelle.

imo

And the vast majority of my guests ate a vast majority of Death Caps ….

I wish I had started counting all her lies at the beginning, I'm too tired to go back now. Anyway it's a lot. Is the Defence going to try for a mental defence?

I'm trying to understand why she thinks it makes sense to anyone that if she bought *dried* mushrooms from an "Asian Grocer" why should would have to put them in her dehydrator to *dry* them!?! What am I missing?

The death caps were found in her dehydrator!!
I think she is trying to 'blur the lines' by saying she mixed 2 types of dried mushrooms together.

So she placed dried mushrooms from Asian Market in Tupperware and THEN she added foraged dehydrated ones to that same Tupperware.

THAT^^^ WAY, THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW IF IT WAS HER FAULT OR THE ASIAN GROCER'S FAULT---SO NOT GUILTY!

Erin Patterson trial LIVE updates: Exotic mushrooms tasted ‘more interesting’, had more flavour, court hears

Patterson told the court that the mushrooms she bought from an Asian grocer in Melbourne in April 2023 smelled really pungent, so she put them in a container and took them back to her home in Leongatha.

Patterson told the court she remembered putting wild mushrooms she had dehydrated around May or June 2023 in a container that already contained other dried mushrooms.

Haven’t been keeping up with this thread as of lately. My mom passed away unexpectedly. Can someone please refresh my memory on why she didn’t get sick or die when everyone else died or almost did. The fact she didn’t and all her lies being told makes my conclusion an easy one. Guilty! Imo moo

Still doesn't explain why she would dehydrate the dehydrated mushrooms she purchased. They were already dry. It is completely nonsensical. I feel quite angry at this point, she is just playing with peoples heads
I don't think she is saying she dehydrated those---she is saying she put them in a container, then she dehydrated foraged ones, AND PLACED THEM IN SAME CONTAINER.

So she is admitting that she foraged the death caps herself, but she accidentally mixed them with the asian ones in the Tupperware. I don't know why she needed to add that little extra lie though.

But she admitted she saw mushrooms growing right next to the Oak Trees and picked them and dehydrated them. SHE DIDNT KNOW THAT DEATH CAPS GROW NEAR OAKS?

She did a kind of unconvincing attempt to act like she was sick that day. But I don't think it worked.

I guess she will have another chance tomorrow to try and explain it better on the stand.

The hard part for the Prosecution is that neither of the deceased female victims tested positive by blood tests for death caps because it doesn't stay longer than 48 hours or so in bloodstream.

The males both tested positive because they were tested sooner because they got sick very quickly because they ate more of the lunch. They didn't bother testing the women by that point because it was obvious to them , no verification needed, they were just treated for Death Caps without further blood tests.

The sticking point for me is that nobody apart from the people she spent time slagging off got sick.

Is her Golden Labrador Bulimic as well?
Adorable Chocolate Labrador is confirmed bulimic.

This really was the worst decision EP could have made by going into the witness box. Oh my god.
I’m not sure about that. Erin’s ‘challenging / traumatising’ life story would resonate with some people, and IMO she is banking on having at least one such person still on the Jury panel after the final ballot.

For me: It’s the fact that when in hospital Erin was doing wees in the toilet pan and told the nurse they were poos, when they were wees, which makes me suspicious that she didn’t have gastro.

And then all of the food purchased on the way to her son’s flying lesson was another tell.

I think the medical tests will demonstrate that Erin was clinically well, apart from her blood pressure that slowly came back into a normal range.

She did get herself some fentanyl by giving a subjective self-identified headache rating of 8 or 7 out of 10: I imagine the unnecessary consumption of such a strong drug would have been a welcome break and reprise from her own disordered thoughts!! IMO

One certainly seems to know how to use the medical system to one’s advantage when one puts their mind to it. IMO

But Erin’s already admitted there were Death Caps in the meal when she gave evidence today, right?

I guess they are trying to create reasonable doubt of the source of the death caps, but she at very least dehydrated some cos there was the matter collected from the dehydrator. This is where her lies just don’t make it make sense. What are the odds she both foraged death caps AND the mystery Asian shop were also death caps?!
Based on the prosecution evidence - death cap residue in dehydrator and no evidence that an Asian store sold death caps after the health authorities looked high and low, her story of mixed up mushrooms is not enough doubt for me. Well I don’t even believe based on the evidence presented there’s enough to believe she had purchased any in the first place. So if you don’t believe the Asian story then only her dehydrated ones must of been in there… then it’s up to decide if accidental or not
