I even find it odd that she refers to her children as "the children". It is giving Mommy Dearest vibes, IMO.
Especially when they are teenagers. She's supposedly so afraid of scaring them by hospitals, relatives dying, pulling them out of school. She's treating them like they are small children, infants.

Questioning of Erin Patterson resumes after break

By Joseph Dunstan

As cross-examination resumes, Mr Mandy asks Erin further details about her communication with the kids around the lunch.

Does this reporter know what 'cross examination' means?

Or does it mean something different in Victoria than it does in California? I assume it means when the other side asks the defendant questions, not her own counsel?

No, your version is correct!

“I was becoming concerned about Simon’s behaviour and his allegations and I was concerned for my security, so I wanted him not to be able to contact me anymore,” she says.

Yeah, If I had just wiped out someones entire family, I wouldn't want the remaining survivor, who knew me better than anyone, contacting me anymore either!!
Yet he's supposedly her only other family and the one person who actually CAN help out with her kids.

I really notice how much they are trying to turn Simon into the perpetrator. It has been apparent via the defence.
However it was that Simon "made her feel", that is the reason for all of her anxiety and accidental actions.

imo
There should be a violinist playing in the background.

About the third time the error has been made too.

Her concern for her kids seems to be awfully shallow.

Erin says police did not seize Phone A

By Joseph Dunstan

During the trial, there have been several phones and devices linked to Erin Patterson which have featured in the evidence.

Phone A is a phone which prosecutors allege had its SIM card swapped during a police search of Ms Patterson's home on August 5, and was never recovered.

Phone B is a phone Ms Patterson handed to police on August 5, which underwent four factory resets in 2023, including one done remotely while it was in a police locker at Spencer Street in Melbourne's CBD.

Erin says when police visited her home, Phone A was on a windowsill near a charging station.

Erin says the phone she gave police when they asked for her phone was Phone B, which she had been using at the time.

At the end of that day, Erin recalls getting home and being "a bit confused" by the property seizure record she had been given by police, which showed two Samsung devices had been taken.

She says she found a Nokia phone left in a basket, then later saw Phone A "on a windowsill".

"I was trying to piece together what was going on," she says.

"So I took the 783 SIM out of Phone A and put it into the Nokia, so that I could use the Nokia," she says.

She says she switched the Nokia on after midnight.

"It baffled me why it [the Nokia] was still in my house," she says.

Such a coincidence she didn’t taste it after the extra mushrooms were added, she ate on a different plate, and she, her kids and the dog were never sick. As a reasonable person, this is too much to believe. JMO
It really does not make sense she didn't taste test after she added the 'funny smelling pungent' mushrooms.

She testified that she only added them because her duxelles tasted bland. So after preparing this expensive elegant meal, she impulsively grabs a Tupperware full of old dried smelly mushrooms and adds them to the duxelles and never bothers to taste it? Adds it to each BW without tasting it?

None of this is making any logical sense. She is cooked!

Mandy takes Patterson to a digital report, previously shown to the jury, showing four factory resets were performed on one of her phones.

The court previously heard four resets - one in February 2023 and three in August 2023- were performed on the phone Patterson provided to police during the search. The search was conducted on 5 August 2023.

Mandy asks Patterson if she is responsible for the factory resets.

“I’m responsible for the last three,” she says.

Paterson says her son conducted the first reset after he damaged his phone.

The second factory reset on 2 August 2023 was to get her son’s information off the phone.

She says the factory reset on 5 August 2023 was because she “panicked” and didn’t want detectives to see photos in the Google app of mushrooms and the dehydrator.

Regarding the factory reset on 6 August 2023, Patterson said after the police search she wondered if she could login to her Google account and see where the seized devices were. She said she wondered if police were “silly enough to leave it connected to the internet”.

“I hit factory reset to see what happened,” she says.

Imagine putting pungent musty old sock smelling mushrooms in a lovely dinner for your beloved in-laws.

*I don't think she has said yet whether or not she tasted it after the extras were added.
IIRC, I think she said she didn't? I will go and try to find where I read that.

It only makes sense when you know that she knows that it's Death Caps, therefore she's not going to taste it.

It's not even just that she's a proven liar, she is just terrible at this.

Maybe they could play Shannon Noll singing "What about me, it isn't fair...?"

I feel sorry for our overseas counterparts in this thread, not knowing how funny and apt this song reference is.
