Australia Australia - William Tyrrell Disappeared While Playing in Yard - Kendall (NSW) #79

A date will be set, the findings will be delayed, in three years' time she'll either open another tranche or retire.
Haha , I think she is done with this inquest & just wants to hand down her findings & move on.

The cops are the ones who have dragged this out for years, not providing documents etc & than when they did, they were basically useless to the Coroner.

I feel for her, her hands have essentially been tied for years.........

And William has gotten lost in all this noise.

:(

I was surprised. It makes sense I guess, we keep hearing reasons why she doesn't want to hear from this person and that person. All of a sudden there's nobody left.
This could have played out during the inquest rather than behind the scene. If some of the police personalities are so bad, put them on the spot and make it clear their time will be cut short if they don't comply.

As it is, we might be left wondering what might of been missed, and it looks like the "findings" are already decided, maybe a little prematurely.

Prematurely?? This has been going on for years. The coroner has been given pretty much nothing to work with. I expect she will hand down an open finding.

An inquest isn't a debate.

BBM : missed?

The NSWPF has had years , like over 3 years to gather evidence on the FFC , they have had their home & car "bugged" for over a year, they have made them front the NSWCC, they did the huge extensive forensic dig at Batar Creek / Cob & Co Rd / 48 Benaroon Drive, they extensively forensically examined the FGM's car, they re-interviewed people & came up with nothing to help assist the coroner IMO

What has become of all that??

Where is their evidence??

So not surprised that the Coroner has closed the inquest. She was ready to write her findings, the police said hold up a bit while we investigate the FM. She waited, asked for a statement of facts when they were done. Received no new facts.

There is nothing more to be done. Not unless some evidence is discovered somewhere. Some new facts to be delivered.

imo

What I'm saying is.... put them on the stand and let that play out.

The nature of this case is endless conjecture now.

Don't let it play out way into endless mystery podcasts and endless media all stemming from the usual one or two media barons.

Give the Police a moment in the spotlight. If they differ or delay, they can be stood down. Where is the harm in that? Good use of William's time, IMO.

Exactly.

Use Williams time to at least ask the question in a visible way.

I can’t imagine the findings could be anything other than ‘William was killed by unidentified persons via unidentified means on or shortly after his disappearance on 12 September 2014’ at this point. It doesn’t seem we heard any new evidence or theories. The inquest was probably a bit of a waste of resources in the end, although I suppose you have to hold an inquest before you can discern that information. At least the inquest was the catalyst for the new podcast, I suppose?

Will be happily surprised if the coroner does announce information pointing somewhere, but we certainly haven’t heard it.
All imo.

But the coroner knows what the police were going to say, she's the one that redacted Laidlaw's statement, which apparently was mostly "opinion". He can hardly get up on the stand now & present his "facts" which the Coroner has been asking for for a long time.

If she were to let Laidlaw give testimony & most of it was his opinion or SFR's opinion & than that opinion gets reported on & than we have years & years of conjecture, ( if an open finding is handed down ) wild rumors & words twisted to suit certain narratives. Which has been what this case has been like all along, with all the leaks of the brief & "selective" leaks IMO, not the stuff released by the Coroner.

Enough to harm this case & people too.

You only have to look around the internet to easily find how crazy some people are about this case & the things posted, stating rumors that eventually morp into facts.

You only have to listen to the last episode of Witness to see how some people carry on, with no proof what so ever.

This is just all so sad, William would be teenager now & it seems we are no closer to finding him than at the start.

All IMO

I'm so thankful that WS's deals in facts & links :)

I have listened to the latest podcast twice now (not sure why I put myself through one part of it twice tbh).
One thing I found interesting and not seen mentioned anywhere is:
There was at least a year of surveillance on the foster parents including hidden cameras, microphones and their mobile phones 'tapped'. We know this and no surprise.
In that year the foster parents discussed putting illegal bids on the property they were selling (and were taken to court for it as a result of recordings). Again, we know this.
In that year the foster parents had some 'altercations' with William's sister (and were taken to court for it as a result of recordings). This we also know.
So one could conclude that they had no clue they were being recorded??
Was there nothing about what happened to William? No discussions that could incriminate them for William? I'm asking here SPECIFICALLY about William (the other matters put aside for my point here). No one seems to be asking this question in all the forums so keen to see the foster parents blamed.
After all, that is why we are all here? What does that say to you?
Where is William?
I thought the police thought FFF had nothing to do with williams disappearance, so if he didnt why would they discuss it?

This is what I can find about the closing submissions to the Coroner ...

After all witnesses have been heard, lawyers present their closing submissions, summarising their key points and arguments for the coroner's consideration. Link

so could this mean the coroner hg has formed an opinion there is an obvious guilty person and will be handing it over to the dpp?

Power to refer to Director of Public Prosecutions

The Coroner cannot find someone guilty of a crime. If, at any time during the course of an inquest or inquiry, the Coroner forms an opinion that a known person has committed an indictable offence in connection with the death the Coroner is required to suspend the inquest or inquiry and refer the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions. It is entirely a matter for the Director of Public Prosecutions to determine whether charges should be laid against the person, and a matter for the criminal courts to determine whether the person is guilty.

Similarly, the Coroner cannot determine civil liability, although the Coroner’s finding may be relied upon in subsequent civil proceedings and/or insurance claims

I don't think the Coroner would have called for closing submissions if that was the case?

Sounds as if she has advised the lawyers to submit their closing submissions then she is going to produce her Coronial Report.

I wonder if Frank Abbott is going to write his own submission. Or if he won't submit anything in closing.

imo

MP will probably write it for him
