Are they so blind they can’t see this was all Lori with the power? Read her text messages to Chad. She stated she and Melanie couldn’t wait for JJ and Tylee and Melanie’s two kids to be dead. They were tired of “fighting demons”.
Lori controlled Chad and he played right into it, giving her justification for all the murders. He liked the sex. I think he was intimidated by Lori.

Both Charles Vallow and Brandon Boudreaux had a fatal flaw of believing their wives were good women manipulated by Chad and others. Not true! Lori and Melanie are pure evil. Both should be where Chad is.
How could the court even give half custody of those children to melani? What a travesty.

Another suspicious death????? Where was Lori at the time?

Angel of death. De-emphasis on angel.

How far back does this go?

All the Coxes except for Alex were in Hawaii. And they wouldn't return to Texas until after Stacey had died. LD would later often run to Hawaii when she thought she would need to hide. She seemed to think Hawaii was a different country and LE couldn't follow her there.

If Alex did do the deed, it may have been intended as a mercy killing, at best.

Maybe that's how it was presented to him. And it came easier after that. Or LD just had the power over him, from then on. Not religious power but the threat of exposure.

She would have knowingly drank the koolaid without hesitation. moo

Not to excuse Melani's actions, but a lot might be explained by her early upbringing with her mother Stacey, LD's older sister. Stacey had challenging medical and mental issues, going by her husband's court filing in their divorce. Stacey had a lot of delusional beliefs about health and nutrition that she also imposed upon Melani. And after Stacey's death (which was under suspicious circumstances), LD would have had a lot of unfortunate influence in her life.

The harrowing details can be read below (17 pages). It's a divorce filing, but comes across very credible.

Or you can listen to Megan Conner read the whole thing here.

I put the wrong divorce document in my post above. Should have been this one below. It's a declaration by Stacey's then husband Steve Cope.

Adam and Rex would like to know who actually murdered the children (e.g. which perpetrator was present/assisted). They also mentioned wanting to know who gave Brandon's new address to Alex (this was before it was mentioned at the trial).

I see Chad as the mastermind (making up their previous lives and their seven missions, rating people on a light/dark scale and declaring evil possessions, naming zombies and monitoring their death percentages, as well as giving Alex a special role within the cult). Lori turned Chad's fantasy talk to her/their advantage. She was likely more action oriented than him, pushing him to go through with it. After she got arrested, he kept telling her it was all part of a big plan. She probably still thinks they'll get out, while he knows better. That said, I believe she deserves the death penalty for putting Chad before her children. Lori was a terrible egotistical person even before she met him. As for Melani, she's part naive (not too bright) and part manipulating (must have learned from Lori). I wouldn't be able to trust her if I were Brandon.

She testified in their November 2020 custody hearing that she doesn't believe in dark spirits and zombies. But she certainly did so wholeheartedly at one time. Unless she changed her mind by then, she was lying. She even later testified in Chad's trial about participating in the zombie stuff.

They had to agree on a custody settlement, so maybe she was able to convince Brandon she no longer believes in it.

In court Wednesday, Melani's attorney asked if she believes in "zombies" and "dark" spirits, which Melani denies. Other court documents and police reports indicate that "zombies" and "dark spirits" are allegedly beliefs taught by Chad Daybell to a religious doomsday group and could possibly be linked to the several death investigations the couple is tied to.

You must check out this YouTube creator. She goes by Word Wise, and she reads the Daybell/Cox books, so we don't have to.
In this video, she explains Barry Cox's book, "How the American Public Can Dismantle the IRS." Not only does Kit at Word Wise read the book, but she also explains how it relates to Lori's behavior in court. It is fascinating. If you want to try and figure out the Cox family and what the heck happened to them to the point they raised two serial killers, be sure and check out Word Wise.

@Smelly Squirrel, thank you for posting this. It makes me so mad. Then what was Melanie doing with her uncle Alex, trying to kidnap her kids from Brandon's parents' house? Why is there an open investigation against Melanie in the conspiracy to murder Brandon?

You are being too kind imo. Women are just as evil as men. Lori had a history before Chad. Wish one of her two surviving exes would write a book.

@Wishbone, this just makes me crazy. She absolutely believed in dark and light spirits, as we have seen. Only Melanie had Brandon's address, and there is an open investigation into Melanie, as we learned from Lori's trial on Friday.
I don't see how she got unsupervised 50/50 custody.

Brandon did agree to the shared custody for some reason.

But it is surprising he did agree if you read Brandon's scathing pretrial statement. He lays into Melani over her Daybell connection, that it makes him fear for the children's safety. He even mentions that Melanie G. had told him that Melani said two of their kids are zombies.

Smelly, I haven’t been feeling well today so I spent the day in bed watching every YouTube video I could find with MBP - LE interviews & interactions, media interviews, & testimony. I have to say I’m still undecided on whether her involvement in BB’s shooting can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and I’m still not totally sure what I think about it. But one thing is for sure, she has definitely changed what she has said about a lot of things over the years.

Lori is a simple read. Any judge, any hearing. Any trial. She craves the attention. She wants Chad and other prisoners too and even the world to adore her and see how smart she is. She wants approval. Acclamation. She is infuriated that none of us see her as a goddess.

ETA: especially the judges. She wants to outsmart at least one of them. Lol
I’ll be happy when all of these trials are over. So she can just fade away into the prison system. I know there will be appeals but mentions of her (or Chad) should hopefully be few & far between while they rot. For me, hopefully like what happened w/Jodi Arias. I almost never think of her.

6/6/25 Friday, Trial Day 2: *Treena Kay now wants to go on the record. She has issues that Lori, during her opening statement, told the jury yesterday that she said she was a very loving & peaceful person. Treena says this violates the rules & she has now opened the door so Treena can bring up the fact she is a convicted felon four times over. Lori also brought in the fact that Brandon hired a private investigator. Treena says if Lori goes down this road, she plans to bring up the fact that she killed her children, her husband & her current husband’s wife. Judge agrees an&thought, “Wow. She’s opening a big door here” when Lori mentioned those things. He says the state is right & she began to testify. Judge asks Lori if she understands. Lori says she does. “I also understand the state withdrew their 404B.” Judge says, “That doesn’t mean you can say whatever you want!” Lori responds, “I wasn’t saying that!” Judge says if Lori talks about her good character, the state can talk about her character going forward.
State witnesses: Gilbert Detective
David Frerer [back on stand for cross-exam]. Lynette Mendoza [live in Gilbert had Ring doorbell camera on her house]. Treena moves to admit the video as evidence. Video shown on the screen to to jurors [the beginning shows a black vehicle. Within seconds, we heard a loud bang/explosion sound. Kay has no further questions. Brandon Boudreaux back for cross-exam.
