Breaking news in the LISK case

I would guess longer than 2 years, since salt slows plant growth.

Also, this was a body buried in a plastic bag (perhaps double bagged). Plastic bags create an environment ripe for adipocere, which slows decomp. And since this body was buried AND bagged, insect activity would be minimal, imo.

Could have been there awhile I agree. Sandy could have partially uncovered it depending on how much water came over the trail there.

Good point.

In any case it doesn't sound very similar to either the Atlantic City or Gilgo Beach remains.

Unless her neck was broken or showed other signs of trauma. Then it could sound like either AC or GB.

Thanks for the correction you are right, the articles say the remains showed signs of trauma but wouldn't say where or how and I went with what seems to be the most common type, bft. getting way ahead of myself there.

Not sure if this info had been posted here previously, but I just found the January 30 edition of The Leader (our local newspaper) and this is a paragraph from the article, "Human Remains Found in Lattingtown" ...

The Leader has received unconfirmed reports, and we emphasize that this has not been confirmed by the police, that the skull with a hole in the forehead was detached from the body. The body was placed in a plastic bag and has been buried for more than five years.

Thanks z, I had been checking the news reports daily for about a week after the remains were found and as far as I can remember that bit of specific detail was not being reported on. given that the info from the paper is more recent reporting I would have to give it some weight even though they emphasize those facts haven't been confirmed.
Part of me says the separation could happen naturally during the decomposition process but I also feel like they should be able to tell if it was separated depending on where it was located in the bag in relation to the rest of the bones not to mention cut or saw marks they would have found if it indeed was separated from causes other than natural. with the way we know they like to keep info close to the vest we're once again left guessing.

Did anyone hear about them possibly linking killings in New Mexico to the LISK. They also have the killers voice on file in NM. Below is link with voice

Link below provides a connection

Is the link to the first video you posted @the voicemail recent? I didn't see a date on it.

That voice creeped me out!

Sounded like a "drunk white guy".

Also I noticed on the email it said, " I am ws killer" ? Did I read that wrong? I have to re watch when I have a better streaming connection.

Per the video link, seems there are a few similarities but West Mesa LE has (unreleased) info that determines the killer in these cases is not the same.
(That's what I understood, anyway)

I caught that too Fred &Edna. It's curious that they would mention a connection, if they didn't think there was one though.

Sounded east coast too.

The wiki on "West Mesa murders" indicates that some good suspects have surfaced regarding these murders:

Two men who initially attracted police attention in connection with the murders were Fred Reynolds and Lorenzo Montoya. Reynolds was a pimp who knew one of the missing women and reportedly had photos of missing prostitutes; he died of natural causes in January 2009.[13] Lorenzo Montoya lived less than two miles from the burial site; in 2006 there were reportedly tire tracks leading from his trailer to the site.[4] In December 2006, Montoya strangled a teenage prostitute at his trailer; he was shot to death by the prostitute's boyfriend.[4][14]
In August 2010, police searched several properties in Joplin, Missouri associated with a local photographer and businessman in connection with the West Mesa cases.[2] They confiscated "tens of thousands" of photos from the man, who reportedly used to visit the state fair in Albuquerque.[2]

I've read a little @the WM murders. Didn't the pimp, Reynolds, kill the other guy ( was it Montoya )after catching him trying to put the girl in the trunk. Oh wait...Obviously I have to go back and re read, it's been awhile and I'm getting the names mixed up!

People have mentioned that WM killer sounds like a drunk white guy in voice message, and didnt the boyfriend of one of the girls say he received some calls from a person that sounded like a drunk white guy?

Another body washes ashore BREEZY POINT
http://wtvr.com/2013/02/17/body-was...examiner-working-to-determine-cause-of-death/

Witnesses told CBS 2 that the body was fully clothed, but missing a shoe, she appeared to be a young woman with dark skin. It is possible that the woman has been dead for several weeks as the body is badly decomposed, according to investigators.

The Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause and time of death, and to pinpoint how long the body has been in the water.
