British Bella May Culley 18, missing from Thailand, arrested in Georgia, May 2025

Come to think of it, do Go Fund Me's T&Cs permit raising funds to pay fines arising from criminal activity?

It appears so, just found this out from another case where the Go Fund Me was taken down.

"Term 9 prohibits raising funds on GoFundMe for the legal defence of certain alleged crimes"

In that case one would hope the prohibition also covers raising money to pay fines following conviction.

"Following Tuesday's hearing,
Bella's solicitor, Mr Salakaia, commented:

'The discussion is quite ripe,
but money needs to be paid for the fruit'.

(Hehehe, interesting language)

When asked if her sentence could be annulled,
he responded:
'Yes, it depends on the amount of money paid'.

He further added:

'The higher the fine,
the smaller the sentence.
Right now
Bella's family is not ready to pay a concrete amount of money.
We'll see'.

The exact amount of the potential fine remains unclear.

The court also heard
how both sides accepted
the evidence in the case is undoubtable.

Bail was denied by the judge,
with the next hearing scheduled for October 9."

Why should the British Embassy help out a drug mule? She hasn't lost her passport, been in an accident or robbed of all her money. She committed a crime and they should leave it to the country she committed the crime in, to deal with her IMO. JMO

That certainly sounds like they are willing to take money in lieu of a prison sentence. Pressure is on the family.

They might use the one Luigi uses to raise bundles of cash from his supporters.

No prohibition on that one.

G0 Fund Meeee T&Cs do not allow it, no. When a friend of mine had a run-on with the law, we used a site called Funded Justice that is specifically for that type of thing.

Sketchy is what the defendant did.

So
either pay or rot in a cell.
Simple.

Well, I guess if it were me, and I had the cash, I'd pay up.
Does anyone know how much?

An exact sum has not been given. Six figure amounts have been suggested, ,I imagine £100,000 would not be easy or quick for the family to raise.

Yep. Though I suspect that's a starting point, with negotiations to follow.

Probably some opportunities for BMC to parlay her experiences as a lone, pregnant teen in that NOTORIOUS PRISON!!! having been BETRAYED BY DRUG KINGPINS!!! with minimal family contact as UK CONSULATE CRUELLY CUTS TIES!!! and, of course, left HEARTBROKEN BY LOVE RAT!!! *

A DM or Sun story IN HER WORDS! or two, dressed demurely, with the wee bairn peeping gently over her shoulder, maybe a stint on a Criminal Love Island spinoff or even Cameo etc content creation. Hopefully not a children's book.

Plenty of ways to even monetize low-level infamy, especially if the ourtraged tabloid press is on your side. Unfortunately.

* Tabloid content strictly my own devising

Pregnant 'drugs mule' suspect Bella Culley's distraught family have been given three weeks to raise £215,000 to secure her freedom from jail in Georgia.

The Teesside teenager is expected to give birth by Christmas and had hoped to walk free today but authorities said the vast sum has still not been handed over to local authorities.

Her mother, Lyanne Kennedy, 44, a charity worker, and father Niel Culley, 49, have been desperately scrambling for the cash but are understood to be agonisingly short.

Judge Giorgi Gelashvili said today they have until October 28 to raise the full amount otherwise they will start discussing sentencing on November 2.

Parents should just let her learn her lesson imo. Imagine plunging your parents into debt because you attempted to smuggle drugs. MOO

215K pounds?
Is it like the price of a house in the UK? 🤔

In some parts of the UK you could buy 2 houses for this amount. It is way more than I was expecting. Will be interesting to see if they can raise the cash as I believe certain methods - the words I can't write on here ! - are forbidden.
