Maybe grinding the discussion to a halt, at the end of the day, is something that would appeal to someone who was not really interested in finding Bob.

I dont think there is anyone on this site who would work for leaving him out there, so disrespected. I believe that whole heartedly.

I suppose there are two ex spouses, one for PB and one for RB, that we could widen the net for, but one already seems to have cashed out many years ago (50K according to PE) and the other seems not to benefit at all from Bob's disappearance. Like Bob, he was a member of the military. IIRC, he served honorably in Vietnam. That would give he and Bob some things in common.

Other than his child, I wonder what Bob had in common with JeM? Did JeM serve in Vietnam?

Thanks for the link - I noticed this before but got nothing and thought it had expired. Must just be my computer, which is good news because now I know I can borrow another one. I really want to see this.

It may not be your computer. Some links carried over in quotes did not work. I checked the video link before I posted and it should work fine. If not, I'm glad you can see it another time.

I'm still working on the phone and key situation. But considering we are discussing theories right now, and experience with these sorts of crimes and crime scenes- thought I'd put in my two cents from a SAR pov.

I went back through some MP files we had from years ago, because I had this nagging thought in my head of a similar case here.
Sure enough, it was an elderly man with a lot of money whose home had been robbed and he was gone without a trace. A very private man with a small group of close friends. His wife was still living at the time (since passed) but was out at an event at the time of the burglary. He was known to be home, and that was because his wife called from the event to ask if he needed anything on the way home. This was about an hour before she arrived back at their residence to find it robbed and he missing.

He was found a short bit later, he had been murdered -head trauma- and dumped in a field several miles away.

So...the initial thought process was home invasion/random stranger/possibly someone that targeted the family. It turned out it was the couple's 45 year old son who had a lifelong beef against his dad, a drug habit, and mental illness.

Ya'll see where I'm going with this?

Just as an aside? Every time I watch that video, it shoots me back to the timeline (and creeps me out.)

That would have been the day after the linens got changed, is that correct?

Yes, and based on the new timeline from Disappeared and JeM's last seen time for Bob, Bob was in the house with JeM between noon and 1, I believe. As was the CL.

Someone here is confused...JeM, JuM or CL. Since CL knew the Michaels, iirc, perhaps the working theory could be expanded to an alliance between CL and JeM, but why would his wife draw attention to this with her statement?

Maybe if she didnt know, I suppose.

Nope, this is too silly for me-simpler is best.

Thank you for digging in your files Oriah-why am I not surprised by the end of that story???

I am even more grateful now that CL is able to tell her side of what she observed in Bob's house.

Well I can tell you for sure that I'm confused, lol.

When the infamous linen change happened- well, does anyone know what the washer/dryer situation was? Because idk about ya'll, but we do a lot of laundry lol. I have the timing down to the minute the buzzer goes off.

Were towels included in the change of linens? Oh and I also want to know what the heating/air was set at. Sorry I am a bit all over the place today!

I suppose former servicemen can often find something in common, even if they served in different wars or left under different circumstances and joined different Vets' groups.

Even extending the net further though, it's still difficult to exclude all family members from the circle who knew Bob. Any left seem to have either had no meaningful contact with him for a long while, or they were simply not anywhere near Bob or his house the day he disappeared.

By the way, talking of circles, although I read the rules yesterday and learnt about when to alert a moderator, I still couldn't find how to actually do it. And I know I should ask a moderator this but....
Can anyone help? (I don't actually want to alert so please don't alert on my behalf, and excuse me if there's a big red button in front of my eyes that I can't see).

See that little red and white exclamation point on the upper right of this post? Click on that to alert. Oh, of the post you want to alert the mod to, of course! ;-)

A little red button right in front of my eyes! Thank you for not laughing, SuzyQ211!

What amazes me about this case is that through the the strangest twist of fate it ends up with a possible crime scene that is cleaned three times before LE got a chance to examine it; JeM after his work, the CL doing her job; then JuM topping it all off with the sheets and anything else she thought needed adjusting. Could there be much evidence left of anything after that?

I did wonder why the police report said there were no signs of a struggle/disturbance. Maybe they hadn't had a chance to talk to the CL then, and no-one else had bothered to inform them about the unusual, unmade bed.

If the CL didn't do it, I bet Bob had a washer dryer and did a small, weekly wash. I don't think towels have been mentioned at all, or where the old sheets went. The new ones, of course, eventually went right back where they came from.

Thank you so much for the link Cubby. With the kind help of Mr Zwiebel I have finally managed to watch the video.
All I'll say is, even Mr Zwiebel noticed, and I truly believe JuM was scared at that point.
Do you think she knew anything at that point, zwiebel? Do you think she had suspicions?

Because it takes a great deal of courage to face a news crew and talk about foul play...if you have an inkling about what might have gone down that is.

Tried to post this earlier but WS was down or busy due to the breaking news in Jessica Ridgeway's case.

Let's try this again:

Just as an aside? Every time I watch that video, it shoots me back to the timeline (and creeps me out.)

Yes. Daughter JuM's KTLV interview from Bob's home happened the day following his disappearance, Tuesday July 28th.

The video again reminds me, that JeM let his wife go to Bob's alone, and that leads me to believe he knew her safety was not in jeoprody despite his fil having gone missing the day prior.

  • #816
Oh yeah-clearly JeM wasnt worried. He wasnt worried in the least, in spite of the phantom black SUV driving back and forth in front of the house.

I wonder if AH stayed with her and helped change the sheets so his Mom wasnt alone? At least she would have been protected by someone.

I am still trying to envision the key situation on the ground in Placentia. Who had them and who didnt, that is. CL didnt-she would have gone inside of the house. JeM didnt have at least the key to the front door-he had to go around back to the door he left open even though Bob was home. (If Bob was at all security conscious, wouldnt he have locked the back door when he left as well as the front door?)

AH was right down the street from Bob-he must have had a set of keys.

Exactly! Why would JeM leave the back door unlocked if Bob was home when he left!

Yes, I do believe she had suspicions, and I think she was scared, desperate even, and did not want to be in front of those cameras. It makes me wonder why she felt she had to go to the house that day - for the sake of Bob? Fontelle? Not just for the sake of changing a set of sheets, surely?

As for the bravery of appearing in front of cameras, that doesn't hold much significance for me; when a person has chosen what they will believe, they must keep believing and reinforcing. Facing an alternative could require the sort of courage many people could not find. Refusing to talk might have caused questions to be asked and she hadn't known then, they were going to be asked anyway.

The most significant part for me was actually seeing her say; 'We're thinking Noon? One?' She had discussed it with someone, asked a hard question. That's the kind of answer she accepted and repeated and the 'we' showed it was her answer too now.

I just can't figure out this leaving the back door unlocked Angelo. Anyone could have walked in while JeM was away. Are we sure he didn't unlock it?
Anyone could have been upstairs waiting for him to return. Who knows? Perhaps someone was, and snuck out while the CL's back was turned.
