The houses in Bob's Street all stand alone, don't they? With gardens around. So there really cannot be that many neighbours who lived close enough to hear cusses and take photos etc? 6 maybe? I wonder how many of those original residents live there now, and could be asked if they are the Watchfulneighour with the important photographs - perhaps indicating Bob being held a prisoner in his home?

Because the black SUV never existed imo. It drove back and forth on the wrong side of the street for 10 minutes? 10 minutes is a long time. Uh, wouldnt you have written down a lic number, approached the vehicle and asked if you could help?

Ridiculous.

Now you've gone and spoilt it all, believe09. :)

ETA: I wouldn't have been watching it in the first place, I'd have been doing the repairs.

LOL. If you were doing the repairs, zwiebel, Bob wouldnt be lying out in the cold somewhere I suspect. :(

So, interesting as all those vanishing cars, photos and watchfulneighbours have been, I feel the circle has to widen if we want to find Bob. Does anyone have a temp for Placentia that day, and a record of the first forest fires in the area?

Personally, again jmo, I think the watchful neighbor thing is pretty transparent.

Gosh, you think? Hmmmm, who do we know that likes to surf the web, leaving comments here, there and everywhere?

Keys.

Something bugs me about the keys.

I can see giving a set of house keys to a close relative or even a neighbor to be used in case of an emergency or to come check on an elderly or infirm inhabitant.

But not car keys. I cannot see giving anyone a set of car keys, unless it was a resident of the same household, such as a spouse or child living under the same roof.

So, where is Bob's car now? Did someone remove it from the home? If so, where did they find the keys to do so? Were they perhaps with the same house keys that were used to enter the house during the well-being check?

Well, it just seems really strange to me that three women have been left to do all the talking for the man who could have cleared up so many questions years ago. Why would he let them go through that?

This might have something to do with it.

Good questions.

Like you, I can't really see giving keys to the car to someone who doesn't usually drive it. I'd keep a spare car key somewhere in the house against the day I managed to lock myself out of the car or maybe on a separate key ring so I could leave it with the garage if necessary.

Also, cars can't just sit in a driveway without being driven (or at least started regularly) without relatively quickly ruining the engine. In my misspent youth, it took about 4-6 months of inactivity to gum up the works but perhaps modern cars take longer? In any case, if Fontelle can't drive (I seem to remember reading she can't), I hope the car has been sold. No point in wasting thousands of dollars that could be used for something good...

oh, like SEARCHING FOR BOB!

Hang on. I think - not 100 per cent certain but someone will put me right if not - that the car did not make it onto the list of things reclaimed because Bob had only 'borrowed' them from his daughters. It was probably in his name. A Classic car was claimed from his garage for his grandson, and Bob's friend said a new one he had purchased earlier was given to his daughter PB.

I don't think the car ever went missing with Bob. That's what made his disappearance so suspect, as he had bad knees and could only walk to the end of the block. Think Fontelle was allowed to keep her husband's car. Despite being unable to drive herself, I am sure one of the family members supporting her at that time were able to. I think Watchfulneighbour was suggesting Mr Harrod's wife and stepchildren were the strangers taking the car away.

I don't know if Fontelle still has it. Maybe it was sold. It was pretty old and Bob had given away the new one he bought.

Free or low-cost legal aid? Would that mean JuM and JeM were thought to be poor, or to have money problems at the time Bob disappeared? Or can anyone ask for free/low-cost aid in the US?

It's interesting that the efforts of law enforcement to find Bob are seen as harrassment. Oh well, there's the wrong side of history and the right. We all make our choices.

Unknown about the forest fires in the area. Not sure what you mean by the first, first following Bob's disappearance?

Here is a link to the weather for the day. The closest area to Placentia listed is Fullerton, CA. This wunderground site is amazing for historical weather data! hth:

Sorry Cubby, I wasn't clear. I was trying to form a plan in my head and posted about it before it had taken shape, really.

It's ambitious, but I was thinking it would be so good to organise some yearly satellite maps and charts for those great guys in the SAR thread. Fires, water levels and weather conditions, starting the day Bob disappeared and going up to the present. Just for our approximate area of interest, so we're going to have to come to a concensus on that.
Then collect the information.
Then get input from locals who can point out anything useful they have seen or know about.
Then present it in a really nice way, maybe with satellite maps that can be overlaid with fire/flood patterns etc, year by year.
Then hand it over to our SAR experts, because this is what they're talking about down there, so I'm presuming they'd know what to do with it!

I am sure all the records are out there somewhere. And I think the charts and things could be arranged from my end, will let you know.

What does everybody think?

I like this plan zwiebel. If you want to drive the bus on it, I will help in any way you need. :)

  • #657
I am going to take that in the metaphorical sense you intended, because you don't want to be on any real bus I'm driving, I can assure you.

Cubby's already posted one useful link, there's one down in the SAR thread, but I'm sure people know lots more. Point the way, I'm driving and there's always SAR if I lose my way!

8 days after Bob disappeared..and this post was apparently from someone who appears to have some knowledge via the Michaels regarding the investigation.

Another assumption coming-perhaps it is safe to say that the Michael's family lawyered up...certainly JeM. Making statements to the media would clearly be counter intuitive under that situation.

We know that JuM made a few statements to the media early on-I wonder if she sought representation eventually as well from a low cost criminal atty??

Wondering here what Disappeared will show when it comes to statements...like who gave them, who didnt. Who might have taken a poly, who didnt.
