If he was going walking he would have taken sunglasses and not regular ones.

Hi Balaney. I'm not sure if he had prescription sunglasses - unless he had the lenses that darken in his regular ones.

I don't know what Bob's problem was, but I'm very shortsighted and can't see two feet in front of my face if I wear regular sunglasses.

Diverting the topic for a moment, does anyone know if Sassy was a boy or girl? This isn't a frivolous question; I'm trying to raise the profile of Bob's case and don't want to leave any avenue unexplored. I'm convinced she was a girl, but I don't know why.

Me too. And I hope she was asked if it was her who brought the mail in and put it on the kitchen table. It makes a big difference, imo - if it was Bob and his glasses were sitting beside the mail, it does at least suggest he might have been getting ready to read through it when he disappeared.

ETA: Correction. Mail was on the kitchen counter, not the table. Now I'm thinking it wasn't Bob who brought it in. Is that a job a cleaner would be likely to do, bring in the mail? I wouldn't have thought so, myself.

I wonder if Bob was the type of person who went through his mail each day, as soon as it arrived? Mrs Harrod might know. That's one of the daily routines/habits a person can notice about another in a very short time of starting to live with them.

BBM

Did she look for the key in the mailbox? If so, she may have grabbed the mail.

BBM and ditto. Did anyone put them on the media links thread??

Yes, I did.

ETA: I think they will stick around for as long as we need them now.

Ah yes. She did check the mailbox for the key. And she would have taken the mail into the house for Bob, wouldn't she?

I wonder if that was one of several little things - no answer at the door, no key in the mailbox, mail still there, unmade bed; that made the CL so concerned when JuM came back? And led to her asking him to check upstairs?

I would think it would depend on how Bob felt about other people handling his mail.

OK- In the ABC7 video, when Fontelle is being hugged and kissed by JuM and RB, notice the street work going on in the background? They are digging a hole.

I wonder when that work started and if they were there Monday, Tuesday??

Good eye! I'm curious what type of construction was going on, and how long it lasted. I wonder if there was any piping that could have hidden Bob? As horrible as the thought is, I can't help but wonder.

Oh, no Cubby, no. I can't think about that.

But road (highway?) workers usually start early, don't they? They do here. And are in a great position to see vehicles or people coming and going. And who was working when and were will probably be listed somewhere. And they are likely to recall the day the cameras turned up in Carnation drive, and maybe any conversations about what they might have seen the day before. I hope PPD found and talked to them all.

Does CA employ their own workers or are they contracted privately? Might there be public records/financial accounts for work that was carried out that year, online?

That street was blocked off part of the way-there may have even been a detail out of sight from the cameras.

Ignore that. Their plans don't match up with the actual dates work commenced at all. I should have known. Just like England.

Will look some more.

I can't find any records right now, but it does say any private parties carrying out works on a road must have a permit. So the records are going to be there somewhere, for Monday, July 27th, 2009, on Carnation Drive, Placentia. We've just got to sleuth them.

'The bed in the master bedroom was made.'

From LE report at 9.32pm on the night of 27th July, 2009. So someone had made Bob's bed that day, after he disappeared. It must have had sheets on, unless someone 'made' the bed without sheets. Now, that would be weird.

I'm sure it had sheets on it because the cleaning lady was there. I can't imagine a cleaning lady who would leave an ordinary bed unmade.

The question in my mind would be if she made the bed up without changing the sheets. I suspect I'm not the only person who wondered about that but only one person was in a position to do something about the question.

Good catch! I can't tell if the two blue vans/trucks in the background parked on the side of the street would be news vans or construction?

You can also see the trash bins on the street (that was Wed, July 29). Daughter RB posted: I confirmed that the trash was picked up on Wednesday, two days after Dad went missing. My sister remembered that the news crews and police were all over the neighborhood that day when she heard the trash truck coming, so one barrel was put out at that time. There were no large items disposed of.

Exact transcript of JuM interview the morning after her Dad went missing.

"I'm scared....I'm really - I just want him to come home. I will be here to greet-his-new-wife and I'm hope my Dad will be here with me.

He wa - is just said I cannot wait to see the love of my life. I've loved her - I've always loved her and I can't wait to hold her in my arms again.

My Dad - was gone."

(presenter: "What time?")

".......We're thinking maybe one? Noon?"

It's not so much the initial mistake with the tense, either. It's the painful, immediate correction that results in the nonsense sentence of 'He is just said...' that is so noticeable.

JuM was paying very careful attention to her use of tenses in that interview, imo.
