I really want to know if any conclusions, suggestions were made about the hairdresser. It seems a lot of the programme focused on her.

They focused on her becoming more interested in bob after his wife died. There was a photo of bob and the hairdresser on a boat (maybe the wife's memorial?) and one of the daughters was saying they were acting like it was a party. And that the SUV seen on his street was the same colour as the hairdressers.

I also think that one of the daughters insinuated that the hairdresser was using bob for financial gain and that there had been strange bank transactions before he went missing.

ETA - I don't know the proper name abbreviations yet but it was bob's daughter R (hyphenated last name) who spoke about the hairdresser. The housekeeper also said that he'd told her he wanted someone younger as he didn't want her to 'die on him'.

Initially we worked on a time of the housekeeper arriving at 3pm, as that was the time given. Then we had a Disappeared clip from the US, where she said she arrived at 12 noon. That's what's causing the confusion. I'll try and link to where that scene was transcribed; maybe you can recognise it.

ETA: Here it is: Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - CA CA - Bob Harrod, Time Line and Media Links only

I just checked out the link and its the weirdest thing - it says the narrator says the noon info and there was no narrator in the episode I viewed! I actually noticed it right off the bat. The narrator usually does the intro at the start that is the same for every episode and there was none of that. I thought at first I must have been watching an old episode because I'd never seen it without a narrator before.

Yes to the car - they said the SIL mentioned an SUV driving slowly past the house numerous times on the day bob disappeared. They used this to start the segment about the hairdresser.

No interviews with the son in law (definitely) or the son (I'm pretty sure). My baby has woken up so ill need to check later on which daughters were involved.

If you'd like, I can watch the full episode again tonight and type as it goes, giving you an overview?

Yes please!!!!!

So, the timeline on a three something year-old program aired in Australia has been edited, while the US version has been suddenly pulled?

Something is going on here.

Starting at 3:34:
Detective Radomski: One of the huge difficulties in a case like this is that, we’re pretty confident that this isn’t an act of you know random violence or an abduction, so you have to look at, it’s somebody in Bob’s inner circle. And that’s very hard to get the truth out of that. Friends and family will protect each other. I think that the details lie in the battle for the money.

My tv is set to tape every episode of disappeared so ill also check on Monday and see if its the same non-narrated version.

What could have caused a program editor, backed by a multi-million dollar company, to drastically edit a program aired in Australia, and pull the US version?

This is getting interesting - or weird - enough, to attract some interesting people to Bob's cause.

I guess Bob didn't get the chance to destroy those old checkbooks. Wasn't his check account used pretty quickly after his disappearance?
ETA, not by Mrs Harrod.

What were your impressions of the housekeeper?

  • #613
Thanks to everyone from Australia who posted info about the show. Any other info or impressions would be very much appreciated!

Edinburgh Lass, we appreciate it soooo much!! You have no idea.

Were there any scenes that showed police questioning, what activities were occurring at the house while the CL and JeM were both there?

The SUV appearing in the show makes me laugh along with the wink wink that it was BL's SUV. As if that wouldnt have been checked out immediately considering it was one of the highlights presented to Mrs Harrod when she was told that she needed to file a MP report for Bob.

What were your impressions of the housekeeper?

She seemed quite upset to me - there was even a bit where I thought she was going to cry when she was talking about the days events. And I also think she must suspect JeM as she made a point of saying how it took him awhile to yell down to her that bob wasn't there. Makes me wonder if he was hiding something upstairs during that time?

I'm glad the changes didn't remove the impression of the housekeeper's worry and concern, and JeM's lack of either.

Nope. Or not that I recall. It almost jumped from the CLs story to the hairdresser info with a small amount of time inbetween devoted to the police side of it. The housekeeper only says she was there for three hours but doesn't go into detail about what was going on.

The police then talk about the house and searches. Evidence photos of the house were shown and everything looks in order. They say they cant talk about what was/wasnt found in the house. They spoke about JeMs car and nothing being found. Maybe 2 mins of the show maximum.

The only weird thing I thought was that they talk about surveillance and that bob was seen on video and that his time was accounted for. But then go on to say that there were pockets of time where he couldn't be seen ? I'm paraphrasing but it was along those lines. I remember being confused about their statement.

Bob was seen on surveillance? Not JeM, the son-in-law?

I think I'm beginning to get the picture. According to Bob's daughters, PB, RB, JUM and maybe her husband JeM and son AH;

They cannot discuss the time Bob disappeared or the events of that day (including with authorities, for some of them) because they have to let the authorities do their job. Ditto searches and vigils.

They cannot give Mrs Harrod any of Bob's money to help her because their hands are tied, but they can fight her tooth and nail in the courts, using Bob's money.

They cannot discuss their father's private and personal matters at all, because he always kept them private. But they can post all over the web about his eating, friendship, and spending habits, sparing no detail and no scorn.

They cannot discuss the settlement of the hundreds of thousand of dollars of debt Bob's grandson owed to Bob's estate, because it is a private agreement. But they can (and have) provided full details on the web of Mrs Harrod's income, and her living arrangements. Even how often she leaves Bob's house.

Daughters have not revealed their own fees they take as co-conservators of Bob's estate, or what legal fees they have paid.

Although their father was a very private person, daughter JuM (married to son-in-law who was working in the house the day Bob disappeared) felt completely free to let herself into his house and change his bedsheets. Later, she and her sisters felt completely free to come into his house and take items ranging from the teacups, to the hangings on the wall and a painting of Bob's beloved little dog. And the sheets Jum put on the freshly-made bed, the day after Bob disappeared.

IOW, we can sum it up as full disclosure by Bob's daughters about everyone else but themselves. Why would someone with nothing to hide not be willing to fully disclose?

Sorry my bad. I'm pregnant so blame baby brain. I just found the bit in the episode and it was JeM they were talking about. His time was accounted for but there were still periods of time 'for something to go wrong'. He was interviewed by police on Friday 31 July.

Daughter P was also in the episode. I wish I could sit down and watch it all again right now but it's a bit pointless to start with a toddler running around.

Also, I think someone has definitely screwed up because every time I see another bit of the show, it's clear there should be a narrator. It's hard to follow in some bits because it just jumps from scene to scene without the background narration. Lots of long silences and music in this episode.
