So they have changed the title and taken out the narrator. I wonder what else has been changed and why.

Disappeared Season 5 - Sign of Trouble (Bob Harrod)

Clip (3:23) – Posted 4/26/12

(transcribed below)

Narrator: But Jeff was not the only person at Bob’s house that day. Agnes, Bob’s housekeeper of more than 10 years, arrived around Noon. Normally, she cleans Bob’s house on Tuesday, but this week she’d arranged to come on Monday.

Agnes: And he said that will be fine, I will be here, and Jeff is coming and he’s gonna to take care of a couple of things in the house before Fontelle comes. So I went to the house, knocked on the door, nobody answered, I looked in the mailbox because that’s where he normally leaves me the key, the key wasn’t there, so I sat on the bench in front of the house.

Narrator: The situation made her very uneasy. Nothing like this had ever happened before.

Agnes: Bob always was home when I went over there, or if, him and Georgia, they would always always tell me if they would not be home, and they put a key in the mailbox. But it was a very rare occasion that they were not home.

Narrator: After about 15 minutes, Jeff drove up to the house.

Agnes: I told him right away that, you know, that where Bob is, because he’s not answering the door. And Jeff was just asking me, “Are you supposed to be here today?” I said, “Yeah, Bob knew that I’m coming today.”

Narrator: Agnes was surprised to hear that Bob didn’t tell Jeff that she would be coming that day. As Jeff let her in the house, she began to feel that something was very wrong.

Agnes: I was really concerned at that point, I was afraid to go upstairs, I didn’t want to find anything. So I asked Jeff if he would go upstairs and see if Bob was there.

Narrator: Agnes waited at the bottom of the stairs while Jeff went up to have a look around.

Agnes: I thought he’s just going to look into the room, it takes a minute to go up, look into the room, and just see if Bob was there or not. But he actually ended up spending a couple of minutes there, so I thought maybe, you know, he find something, he find him there or something. So I yelled up, I said, “Is he there, is he ok?” And he said, ‘No, he’s not here.” And then he came back.

Narrator: Uncertain about what to do next, Agnes began cleaning, while Jeff resumed his repairs. As she worked her way around the house, she noticed something disturbing.

Agnes: When I went upstairs, I saw that in his bedroom, the bed was unmade, and never in the 10 years I worked for them, that happened before. It was just so out of character for him to not to make the bed, I just thought it was very strange.

Narrator: Deeply troubled, Agnes finished up and left, shortly after Jeff, who had also completed his work.

Agnes: I was there all together about 3 hours. I can honestly tell you that during the whole time I was there, I was very concerned. I kept thinking, where is he at?

As we know, Bob shared personal matters with his friend Paul, who shared some of them on his blog and on this site.

Starting at :38

PB: The meeting that was held was not about Fontelle, at all. She was not part of the discussion that day. Dad does not share his private or personal matters with anyone. He never had, and he continued not to. And that’s his choice.

Det Radomski - Bob wrote his daughters off for 6 months. They were bombarding him with money issues and he was overwhelmed after death of his wife. [snipped]

Sounds like a supportive/loving group of daughters.

Daughter R - I do not suspect anyone in my family. The fact he disappeared the following day is totally coincidental.

[snipped]

But of course.

[snipped]

Det Loomis - talking about family meeting on 26 July. Was on Bob's calendar. Meeting was to be about finances and property.

Det Radomski - the weekend before he went missing, there was a meeting at his house. Argument regarding the trust occurred.

Daughter R - Dad called meeting on July 26 to discuss the trust. There were things he was meant to do by law and he hadnt done them.

Daughter P - R was looking over the paper and wanted to know answers to certain questions. Bob couldn't answer them.

Daughter R - I had questions about things regarding the trust and Dad couldn't answer.

Daughter P - Bob got flustered and made him quick to temper. R also quick to temper. Once papers were filed, everyone settled down.

Daughter R - we were laughing and joking about the barber and about Fontelle and about Bob being a newlywed. Fontelle would arrive in a few days.

Daughter P - Everyone left on good terms. Nothing left over and everyone was fine.

Fontelle - Bob was very upset after the meeting and fight with Daughter R. Blames her for animosity within family. He told the girls as soon as she got back from Missouri, he was going to add Fontelle to his accounts.

Daughter P - the meeting that was held was not about Fontelle at all. She was not discussed that day. Bob was a private man who never shared personal matters with anyone. He never had and continued not to. That's his choice.

To do list shown (already seen in this thread).

[snipped]

Bolded by me. Daughter RB says they were laughing and joking about the barber and Fontelle at the meeting. Uh huh.

Daughter P talks about going to see Bob once or twice a month and about how everything was hard for him. Hard to get everything organised and hard to complete paperwork. He would repeat things to her multiple times.

Daughter R talks about his fear of driving on freeways and that he would never go far from home. He liked to sit on his recliner and watch the news and read the Wall Street Journal.

Det Corrinne Loomis - where could an 81 year old go with his car still in the driveway? Checked bank records, no obvious transactions. Really a mystery.

Shots of Bob and Fontelle's media clips.

Det Corrinne Loomis - familiar with Bob before the case due to all the media coverage. Clips are shown of Bob talking about reuniting with Fontelle. He resonated with people - sweet love story. Conclusion of all the detectives that it was possible Bob thought he had moved a little too fast with Fontelle - he was getting nervous about closing the chapter with deceased wife (getting rid of posessions etc).

Searched his car and found an address of a couple in Balboa Island - 20 miles from Placentia. Thought 'this is it. Bob has gone to this couple's house'. Visited the couple and found they had been Bob's friends for 60 years. Bob had taken Fontelle to visit the couple the day before they got married. Very interesting as there is no way to get to Balboa without using the freeway. Contrary to what the family said about him never using the freeway.

Doctor's opinion was that Bob was one of the healthiest 81 year olds he had ever seen - healthy enough to make his own decisions and care for his own home.

If Bob was not back by the day Fontelle arrived, we knew we were going to have a big problem.

BBM~~~~~~

Interesting how she describes Mr. Harrod.

[snipped] I just found the bit in the episode and it was JeM they were talking about. His time was accounted for but there were still periods of time 'for something to go wrong'. He was interviewed by police on Friday 31 July. [snipped]

BBM. Bob went missing on Monday, July 27. So JeM was interviewed by police 4 days later, on Friday, July 31? I wonder what he did in those 4 days?

  • #650
As the person who was there the day Bob disappeared, I would have thought JeM's input would have been crucial in the efforts to find him. A four day delay before he spoke to LE seems a very long time when an eighty-one year-old man is missing, to me.

Can anybody explain to me how, if Fontelle was not discussed at all at the family meeting, the family managed to be joking and laughing about her with Bob, as they claim?

BBM~~~~~~

Interesting how she describes Mr. Harrod.

It sounds like a description of someone showing signs of dementia to me. So odd that his best friend, who saw him much more often than daughter, didn't notice anything. Or Bob's doctor.

Interesting how she describes Mr. Harrod.

I seem to remember how the girls spoke of how meticulous he was with paperwork and accounts. Now all of a sudden he can't do anything?

The program mentions 'pockets' of time where JeM's whereabouts cannot be accounted for. I don't really understand that, to be honest. Are they the times he was in the house without the housekeeper and now, with Bob gone, there's no-one to corroborate that?

Or are they the times he was out of the house but was unable to prove - or recall - where he had been?

  • #655
I'm glad the question about whether son-in-law's car was searched has been answered. The car was clean with no evidence of a crime. That's important.

I really do wonder if LE have any indications that anyone other than JeM and the housekeeper visited Bob's home that day.

From this paraphrased info, if he arrived at 9AM and the one receipt we know about (per PPD) from Home Depot is for 3:04PM, there were windows of opportunity. From the below, it sounds like he made at least 3 trips out.
BBM.

---
The show has the day starting with the SIL arriving at 9am.

-----
Cuts to black screen with Monday 27 July 2009.

9am

Det David Radomski - Bob was excited that Fontelle was arriving and he was trying to get little things fixed here and there.

JeM enters - no narration so no introduction

Det Loomis - Bob had a list for JeM of things he wanted done. Electrical, plumbing, outside. To get the house ready for Fontelle.

Det Radomski - JeM left several times - once to a convenience store and multiple times to home improvement store.

-----

Det Rad - JeM provided store information and his time was accounted for but there were windows of opportunity were something to go wrong.

Yes, it is my understanding it was Bob's half while Georgia was still living. Upon her death the bypass trust was a tax shelter and both the bypass and survivors trusts were to be combined.

Georgia's will was filed in March 2008, long before Bob chose to remarry. If GH had willed any portion of her half upon her death to her daughters, why wouldn't it have been distributed in 2008?

I guess the question then becomes what exactly did Georgia will her daughters? What exactly were Georgia's wishes with regards to what the daughters claim to be fighting for? Are they fighting for what GH left in her will to her daughters or for something else?

I'm going to guess the answers to the questions surrounding the trust/will will go the same route as the timeline, in fact I'll bet on it. And if that is the case, again, ask yourselves why Bob's daughters are unwilling to fully and honestly disclose what they are allegedly fighting for.

No; the estate does not get distributed until the surviving spouse passes. Most people do not know that. They assume it gets distributed.

The inconsistencies here are something else. It must be a heavy burden to carry all these changes in stories. The list just gets longer and longer.

I'll add more later when I'm not pressed for time.

Exactly! Yes, that was in their testimony when they took the BL to court for loans and lost because Bob had no paperwork on any loans to the BL.

Note that the girls call them loans and Det. R calls them gifts.

Even without narration there are tons of inconsistencies if you look for them.

In regards to whether there would be any distribution from Georgia's estate prior to Bob's death. I need to go to the doc thread and read Georgia's will if we have it. It really depends on how their estate plan was structured.

If her estate in its entirety went straight to the bypass trust then there would be no specific provisions for the children outside of that.
