Sadly, it does seem it must be someone Bob knew. Police have said they don't think this was a stranger, and it was someone close to Bob.

That's been the million dollar question for ages, poppygirl...and welcome to Bob's thread!

Before 'Disappeared' aired, the timeline was (very approximately, as there were lots of different times) a mid afternoon trip to the hardware store for son in law, then a 3pmish arrival for the housekeeper.

It never quite added up though, but there were no direct media quotes from the housekeeper or Bob's son in law to go on. Just from LE. When the housekeeper was interviewed on Disappeared and said she arrived at 12noon, it was a surprise.

Police say son in law made more than one trip out of the home that day. There is only one receipt for 3.04pm though.

A journalist posted under one of his articles early on, that a detective told him they were regarding the 10am call to Bob as the last verifiable one. We don't know who it was from though.

ETA: All the comments under the article were eventually removed though.

Thanks for the welcome!

I remember seeing the Disappeared ep a while back. They are all on netflix (atleast thru season 5) so I'll have to go watch again.

It seems the SIL was surprised to see the housekeeper there when he returned from Home Depot...perhaps he didn't give Bob a chance to tell him she was coming.

I'm also not buying that they were all on such great terms after the family argument the day before. They argued over some very touchy subjects, no way was everything back to better-than-normal the next day. I have a feeling LE knows who did this but doesn't have enough evidence to make an arrest. Hope Bob gets some justice.

When Bob's housekeeper said in Disappeared that Bob's son in law kept asking, 'Does Bob know you're here?' it seemed a bit odd to me.

She was telling him Bob wasn't answering the door and she was worried, and he just asked her a question in return. I suppose he could have been trying to work out in his own head why Bob would have gone out when the housekeeper was due, but it seems a bit uncaring. Once inside, he then disappeared upstairs and left the housekeeper waiting (very worried) in silence. She shouted up to him in the end. That seemed a little thoughtless too.

The most jarring thing to me is that there was a housekeeper who saw Bob only once a week, for ten years at most, but she was immediately concerned that something was wrong. That suggests Bob was a man who always stuck to a routine.

Yet Bob's son in law who had known him for at least 30 years, worked in his house a lot and used to be his neighbour, didn't seem at all surprised by Bob's sudden change in routine, and that he had disappeared from the house.

I have managed to get that Christmas pic at the top of my sig, the bottom of my sig, but not as my avatar which is where I wanted it.

Never mind, it can stay where it is now. It's the thought that counts.

....and google images:)

There have been heavy gray skies here for days. When I took that photo, the sun came out and suddenly put that bright flash of gold light, in the corner. Just like a light at the end of a long, dark tunnel.

Just a heads up that Bob's threads will soon be moved over to the Missing But Not Forgotten discussion area (2000s Missing). Continuing to discuss his case over there will show what so many of you already know, that he truly is not forgotten. Don't lose his threads when they move. You will be able to find them here:

I was a bit shocked that Bob's case is being moved but I've cheered up now. I know I'd find his thread anywhere, and I'm sure all our other posters can too.

Maybe his case should embrace new technology a bit more though, as the thread won't appear on the home page of WS anymore?

I've just been browsing around OC, trying to see if there's any news about Bob anywhere. There doesn't seem to be any, but I found this. Sgt Hollenbeck of the OC Sheriff's office has caught sight of something that others wouldn't see in a lifetime of watching, and managed to get photos too.

Really beautiful, and somehow fitting for a Christmas Eve post for a missing man where the chances to bring him home are elusive and could be easily missed. I'm glad to know there such sharp-eyed, quick-witted people around to find Bob, if the chance does arrive. My best Christmas wishes to all law enforcement in Orange County.

I don't know what the IK timeline is. I'll have to look it up.

I think, because IK was such a high-profile case and there was such an extensive search for potential victims, LE would never have made their statements about Bob's disappearance being someone close, someone known, etc, if they thought there could be any link.

Do you know if IK usually took his victims with him if he attacked them in their homes?

Trouble is, even if we could whittle IK's timeline down to the exact time he could have been cruising through Placentia, it still wouldn't help. Nothing will, until the last known person to see Bob actually confirms what time that was.

Why is it I'm suddenly wondering if someone would have known about the IK case before thinking up the BL theory. I can't help but wonder what kind of do-overs some wish they had.....

Back to catching up.

Has 'Long Lost Love' been showing again, does anyone know?

I'm checking to see when Disappeared has new episodes added to Netflix. I will post when season 6 is added.

San Bernardino Sheriff's office seems to have a new website. Two officers also arranged - on their own initiative - to get two bloodhounds for the team. They're sisters and apparently the best of the bunch.

They have been very busy up there recently, and it's nice to know they have been increasing their SAR capabilities.

I had forgotten about the changing address of the thread, and was getting a tad worried! Ah, here we are, looks pretty comfortable!

Glad you found your way, minusfour! I felt a little lonely for a while there.
