Did anyone get to see a copy of the new LA Register launched today? I am hoping they will eventually run a big article about Bob, maybe on his fifth missing anniversary.

There is an interview with Aaron Kuschner here about it, which I found interesting.

I'm not even going to try and buy an online copy of the LA Reg though - I'm still smarting they wouldn't let me take out a subscription for the OC Reg.....

But on a happier note, for Easter, there is a lovely story about a nest of Osprey chicks here in the OC register. 40ft up a pole. If you scroll down the story there is a slideshow of photos, on the right.

I wish Bob could have been spending this Easter weekend with Fontelle, at home and happy.

I have been trying to put together a list of remains found in or near Cabazon since 2009, and if they have been identified. There seems to be quite a lot, for a place that isn't very large. It looks like it is an attractive place to dispose of unwanted bodies, unless it's just people hiking out into the wilderness and getting lost.

Hard to see why they'd do that though, and not be reported missing.

I found an update from earlier this month about the remains found in the brush fire near Gorman. But I am struggling to decipher what this sentence really means, from the Chief of the LA coroner's office?

If anyone can help out, I'd be grateful.

'They've been looking at some missing persons with dental records and sent some bone missing with DNA.'

IMHO it was a poorly written sentence that was meant to convey "sent some bone to compare to missing persons with their DNA on record)". There are probably a large number of missing who have no DNA on file.

Well that certainly isn't the case with Bob Harrod, three daughters, a grandson, and great-grandchildren all available to provide samples!!!!

Yes, Bob's DNA is on file. It still plays on my mind though, just in case he was found soon after he went missing, but before a sample was submitted, and is still a John Doe somewhere.

I know it's unlikely, but that has happened in other cases. It's usually where bodies have been taken across state lines though.

There must be something in the water in OC. Bob's doctor said Bob was the 'healthiest 81 year-old' he knew, and now they have a 102 and half year-old lady going on a book tour. For the book she wrote age 94!

The book's called 'The Waiting' and is about Minka Disbrow's search for her long-lost daughter. Minka was the victim of a crime at age 17, but the story ends in light and love. Minka is appearing on the Today program today, but I don't know what time that airs.

ETA: Sorry, it was taped today, to be aired Mother's Day. It's the NBC Today show. And I've just seen on that site it's the birthday of the Queen of my native country. I had no idea. Whoops.

Oh, and there was 'coffee with a cop' in Placentia this morning, where people could go and ask any questions they wanted. I wish I could have gone, to ask what we can do to help find Bob Harrod.

I am really surprised it ran from 7am-9am. That early start must be the Germanic influence in OC. I don't think anyone in communities in England would turn up for a 7am meeting, unless they had to, for work!

Is today a national holiday in the US too? I forgot to buy any chocolate Easter eggs and all the stores were closed here. I found 6 little thumbnail-sized ones, left over from last year, so we had to make do with them.

I just found this link for the OC Fair in 2009, 17 days before Bob disappeared. I've no idea if he went to it of course, but thought it is worth posting in case it triggers any memories for anyone who may have information or a tip filed away, that they've forgotten about.

I went to sit in my garden for a while, in the dark. Because of Bob's thread and reading all about US homes, I have made a garden house with a crawl space, because I thought that was such a good idea....keeping any damp away from the house, etc. It's not something that's really done in Europe.

My elephant of a dog got under there though, and was shuffling about and banging and making enough noise for a creature twice his size. I was calling and asking what he was doing for about ten minutes, before I realized he was actually hiding up by the garden gate, and whatever it was making the noise beneath me, wasn't him.

I don't know if 'If in doubt, run!' is an English saying, but I sure practised it tonight....No one warned me that crawl spaces are creepy....

What a neat idea, 'coffee with a cop'! (7am, wow!)

Neither Good Friday nor the Monday after Easter are holidays (or what I think the UK and other places may call 'bank holidays') in the US.

They did coffee with a cop in my town also. I think its part of a new program or something they are doing.

I agree this was poorly written. It means bone was sent to a lab to see if they can obtain DNA from the Gorman remains. This way the coroners office will have both dentals and DNA for the UID.

IIRC, it is currently law in CA that all UID's be entered into NamUs (not all are viewable to the public, some are only viewable to LE for obvious reasons).

I don't know that they cooperated with providing DNA. IIRC, daughter JuM had posted something on her community forum that only males could submit familial dna, which we all know is not accurate.

I've always wondered if Bob's sister provided DNA as she would be best for mt-dna, since it would have to come down the line from those related to Bob's mother.

I don't know what type of DNA is on file for Bob. Mitochondrial and nuclear DNA are different and can not be compared to one another.... I hope both mt-dna and nuclear are on file for Bob.

Coffee with a cop. Definitely something I would do. Got me wondering if there is a neighborhood watch program in Bob's neighborhood. Something definitely worth while to keep an eye on things. Especially after Bob having disappeared without a trace....

I'm dreaming of the day we see 'arrest/s' added to the title of this thread. Justice for Bob won't come soon enough.
