If I were Bob -- let's say, off at some cottage at Tahoe, drinking a glass of something nice, and looking at information on my disappearance online, I wonder how I'd react to the way some people have treated my wife. Do they have no respect for my choices or preferences? Am I not allowed to fall in love again, and can my lover not be respected as the person I have chosen as my wife? And what does it mean if, say, my own blood were to deny my having chosen a wife, at this point in my life?

Well, I do hope Bob is alive, but I don't think he is. And I sort of wonder if it's easier for people to reject his wife as a real part of his life, or insult her, or imply that she's not really his wife, if they're sure he's not ever going to hear about it or respond to it.

When I first read the daughter's postings I felt they knew Mr. Harrod was never coming back, hence they could write anything they wanted to.

The daughters tried to diminish Mr. Harrod's marriage to Fontelle by using phrases such as, "his California family", "his family of up to 55 consecutive years" and, "his real family." Daughter R pointed out several times that Mr. Harrod and Fontelle "had only 8 days of marital bliss together."

It's my impression the daughters have two main goals outside of having control over Bobs money. 1)To paint their father in such an unflattering light they hope it draws public attention away from their dads case. 2)An attempt to manipulate and intimidate Fontelle any way they can.

It will be interesting to see how to daughters respond to and participate in or not shows like Disappeared and 48 hours mystery or will they attempt to use those avenues to further disgrace their father and his choices.

I'm at a loss why any child would choose to publically humiliate their missing parent.
There is a reason they have put so much effort into attempts to distract the public from Bobs case.

What was in the news about remains/bones found...

Human remains found in Lucerne Valley
Thursday, March 18, 2010

LUCERNE VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- An investigation is underway into the human remains found in the desert area south of Northside and west of Lincoln in Lucerne Valley.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department was notified Tuesday. Deputies were unable to determine the cause of death and requested the Homicide Detail to assist in the investigation.

Detectives have determined that the remains were placed in the location. The scene was processed for evidence. A search will be conducted Saturday to look for additional remains and evidence.

truck bed and cover similiar to the style bed for truck SIL owns. (this is NOT a picture of SIL's truck)

This is JMO but my theory is SIL backed his truck up to the garage and removed Bobs remains in the back of that truck. Bobs car was in the drive closest to the front door - I believe with enough room to open the garage door (it is not a rolling garage door, but swings out and up). All SIL had to do was back that truck up- even partially into the garage and put Bob into that truck bed dead or barely alive. Bobs car would have blocked the view from that side of the home. It looks like the other side is blocked from the neighbors view by landscaping.... Pop open the bed cover and slide Bob in, and close up the Bed.

Who knows how long Bob was in the truck bed.... I wonder when LE took SIL's car for forensic processing. How many days later leaving SIL plenty of time to thoroughly clean the truck and truck bed. The cold feet theory bought them more time.

Of course JMO.

I also wonder if SIL hadn't met the cleaning lady if he would have even admitted being at Bobs home Monday. I think stopping at the hardware store on the way back from a possible temporary place to leave Bob was a just in case thing..... to have a receipt just in case he was questioned about his whereabouts.

9 out of 10 times the last person to see someone alive is the responsible party for their demise and disappearance.

I wonder if SIL had any help getting Bobs body out of the house. IF he did, grandson would be the most likely person to assist living so close.

Another thought. I wonder what repairs were done and why no one has mentioned such. The cleaning lady - being that she was in that home on a regular basis would know what needed repairs and what did not. I wonder what she had to say about the repairs done. Where they all necessary?
Where did SIL dispose of materials he took out of the house that day?

Interesting that no one has ever stated what repairs needed to be done outside of the carpet cleaning.... and things that could have easily covered up evidence of a crime.

Additionally,

Awfully odd imo there has been no mention of repairs done in Bobs home that Monday. If I were in the home that day and had no involvement I'd want my activities of that day to be as transparent as possible. I wonder why SIL hasn't made his activities that day transparent.

I have always believed that the SIL had no idea the housekeeper was coming that day. I wonder what his reaction was to finding her waiting at the house.

I believe Mr. Harrod was taken out of the house at around noon, which is the earlier time first given by family members for the hardware store trip. Later, on his way back to check the house, the SIL stopped at Home Depot.

I agree. There has never been any confirmation that repairs were done. I would also like to know what was purchased at Home Depot.

I agree. I too believe the earlier time given by the family is VERY important in the timeline. Exactly how I am unsure... but I'd guess the plan was to keep the times straight and in doing so, if you notice the times given for Sunday are AWFULLY close to the same times given for Monday. IMO, give the same times for Sunday AND Monday so the chances are lessened for making mistakes..... problem occured when SIL's time stamped receipt differed from the plan.

I'm sure LE verified whether repairs were done or not. Cleaning lady could verify what had changed in the home from the last time she had cleaned. She was there enough to know what needed repair and what did not..... ETA: I'm not suggesting she come online and share as that may impair the investigation.... I'm just thinking outloud.

I suspect this article has been linked before, but I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this bit:

"A family member told the media that Bob was showing early signs of dementia. Detectives who interviewed his doctor say Bob was of sound mind, Loomis said."

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/living/2010985815_disappeared08.html

Edit: Oops, just noticed that Cubby beat me to it!

So, considering the dementia argument is garbage, and could be construed as hurtful, why would his daughter suggest it?

  • #214
IMO the possibility of Bob having dementia was tossed out there (with many things to see what stuck to the wall) as a means of gaining control over his assets and to perhaps suggest he was lost. However if he was lost, Bob would have showed up somewhere close by either having an accident or being hospitalized and being confused....and as we know that did not happen.

Mr. Harrod 's daughters have said many things that were hurtful towards their father.

Though the police have never revealed which indiviual suggested Mr. Harrod may have gotten cold feet, we know from the daughter's postings that they were insinuating their father got cold feet.

Dementia, cold feet, the hairdresser, a stingy old man....etc., all things put out by his daughters as misinformation to divert attention from the truth, imo.

Additionally, some of those things would not make Mr. Harrod a sympathetic victim and people would not care that this man was missing.

Very interesting ideas Cubby - I wonder (Maybe CA Exile knows???) -- Did SIL's truck have a bedliner - the removeable plastic kind - not the spray on kind... and does it still???

Good catch.

I wonder what the daughters initially told the police about the Sunday meeting. I wonder if their story changed after Fontelle spoke to the police and told them what Mr. Harrod had relayed to her about the Sunday meeting.

Bob’s Facebook Page (opened since about Aug 12th)

I notice that when I go to the Facebook page setup for Bob without being logged in, it does not say anywhere on the page that Bob is missing. I only see his name, his picture, some “friends” and what the people controlling the site “like.” Isn’t the point of a Facebook page for a missing person to leave it open to the public and put key information on the page, like “Help Us Find Robert Harrod” or “Missing Person - Robert Harrod,” with Bob’s description, what he was last seen wearing, and information about who to contact with information/tips and the telephone number and/or email address for the PPD?

If I login and look at the page, there is a box on the left that says:
ROBERT MERLE HARROD,
81 yrs old
vanished without a trace
from his southern CA home in Placentia, CA
Bob has been missing
since July 27, 2009.
The Placentia Police Department continues with its investigation.
THIS IS NOT A CLOSED CASE.

Again, no PPD contact information that I can see. No link to the Project Jason flier.

There are now two posts showing as being posted by Robert Merle Harrod:
  • Aug 13: A link to the IS forum with a “Robert Merle Harrod likes this” thumbs up
  • Aug 15: A post that says “Please help find me and bring me back home”
They posted over 20 times on the other forum since the FB page was opened, and yet they can‘t take 5 min to update the FB page with more info that might actually help find Bob? And they are linking to and then posting “Robert Merle Harrod likes this” about a forum where they are insulting Bob’s wife and saying Bob had a “dark side?” It makes me wonder why the page was even activated at all.

Some interesting 'likes and interests' on that page, however none of which are about missing persons.

Can anyone remind me how long Georgia and Bob were married?
Just curious.
