It took me a long time to catch up, but I've wanted to learn about Bob's case ever since I started lurking at websleuths a year ago, because so many regular posters had info about Bob in their sigs. Now that my eyes are bleeding from reading 5 threads, I wanted to see if I could add anything to the conversation. I doubt it, because this has been going on for a while, and everyone has been very thorough in these threads, but for what it's worth...

After mapping all the relatives addresses, I find that grandson lived .4 miles away, RB lived 20 miles away, PB lived 30 miles away, and JM and husband JM lived a whopping 68 miles away from Bob's house.
Further, PB lived 12 miles west of RB, and JMs lived 52 miles away from daughter RB and daughter PB.

grandson ARH (his middle name is Bob's, too?) owns his own computer management company, based out of his home near Bob's house.
RDB refinanced her home Dec.,23, 2008.
PSB purchased her home, with help from Harrod trust, in Aug. 2008.

All of this I found from public search engines, starting with the info from the Motion to Enforce Settlement docs, so I hope it's okay to post. Wow. That motion paper was a huge neon arrow pointing to the five named as POI. And very, very sad.

I want to know more about the grandson.
And, Is there still a hearing tomorrow?

Welcome Georgiajean! As far as I know there is still a hearing today, I havent see anything change on the docket.

ARH changed his name from his given name of Michaels.

Interesting, isnt it? I am not sure why one gives up their father's name for their grandfather's name-the only case I have seen like that, the son was raised by grandfather not father. I dont know how close the Michael's are to their son and grandchildren, but they certainly live far away given that they previously lived next door to their elderly parents...and down the street essentially from their son/grandchildren.

I know JM. Wasn't sure which sister he is/was/ married to.

Thank you all for your help in reposting info. I did read the entire mess of threads a few weeks ago, however--I am not the sharpest knife any more.

I wasn't sure if the name change was related to break up of a marriage. I know people who, when they divorced and re-married, decided to go back to their maiden names. Or if the biological father was not in the picture, or actually had done something reprehensible, the children changed their last name to their step-father, or took their mother's maiden name.
I assume JM is not ARH's biological father, because I saw his original last name was Foster in an earlier post here on WS?
ETA nevermind. It was JM the husband who changed his last name. Maybe it is a family tradition, where the sons change their last name?
I find ARH in people search sites using either last name (M or H).

JM is ARH's biological father. JM's last name was originally Fink. He did not have a close relationship with his father (who would be ARH's paternal grandfather, Bob is ARH's maternal grandfather). JM deviated from his surname Fink and adopted a variation of his middle name Michael as his surname. ARH chose to adopt his grandfathers surname since his fathers surname of Michaels had no biological ties or 'family' meaning.

IMO, both JM and ARH know much much more than has gone public. Bob financed ARH's 700,000 dollar home for which ARH has not made any payments since Bob went missing and sometime ago we uncovered court docs that ARH's home which Bob or his estate/trust holds the note is in forclosure, but unsure what has happened with that since.

If you have any insight you are willing to share, we will be appreciative. Especially if we have it all wrong and he is a stand up guy.

A story I was told this evening:

A young soldier receives his orders to ship out with his unit, and leaves behind his young first love. He slips a ring on her finger and off he goes, making sure she has the address where he will be staying until he heads overseas. Devotedly they write to one another; he leaves his letters to her on the kitchen table of his landlady, sure that she will hand them off to the mailman. His beautiful bride to be pours her love and longing into her letters, sending them regularly.

Her letters come back each time with the word "returned" written across them, yet they have been opened. Time and time again, as the weeks go by, there is no word from the young soldier, simply her letters sent back with the same word written on them, always opened. Her happieness turns to anger and pain-why no explanation? Until she writes her final letter, telling her man that she is removing his ring....and she turns to face a future without him.

In the meantime, the soldier waits and waits-confused as to why he has not recieved anything from his love. In spite of all of his writings, he has never heard a single word back...not a post card, nothing. Each time he places his letter on the table to be mailed, each day he waits hoping to hear something.

They both marry shortly afterwards, and their lives move on for the next 50 years or so.

The wife of the soldier dies and he is a widower. The husband of the young love dies, and she is a widow. Fate throws them back together, yet in her lingering anger and pain she asks, "Why did you return all my letters?" "Letters?" he says. "What letters? Did you receive any of mine?" They wonder at the hand they have been dealt until further conversation uncovers the genie in the bottle-

The young soldier was rooming at the home of his sister's MIL, while waiting to ship out. MIL had a nubile young niece she was sure would be a good match for the young soldier, yet there was an obstacle to the marriage. His prior engagement.

When the young soldier realized that his first love had forgotten him, he turned to the willing arms of the niece and remained faithful to her for the 50+ years of their marriage, yet never forgetting the first he adored.

A suspicion lingered in the mind of the young love-who had read her letters and then coldly returned them if not the young soldier? The answer solidified when the daughter of the niece said to her one day, "My mother knew all about you. In fact she knew that dad had purchased you a diamond engagement ring with a platinum band." Like a lightening bolt hitting her brain, the young love remembered her final letter to her soldier and the description she had written of the ring she had loved so much. The words used by the daughter mirrored those she had used herself so many years ago....

Isnt that something???

From believes post above:

"My mother knew all about you. In fact she knew that dad had purchased you a diamond engagement ring with a platinum band." Like a lightening bolt hitting her brain, the young love remembered her final letter to her soldier and the description she had written of the ring she had loved so much. I wonder....which of the daughters might this be? The one whose spouse was the last to see Bob alive or the one who has spent the last 18 months denigrating her father and spinning the investigtion into directions already ruled out?

Oh the webs one weave.... perhaps this story answers part of the questions regarding the 'master' manipulation we've seen with regards to the treatment of Bob following Georgia's death. If it was something she grew up with it sounds as if this was 'routine' in the family for generations.

Interestingly, I did a little sleuthing on Georgia's brother Paul Magaris. (it is within WS TOS to sleuth/discuss the deceased). Looks like Georgia and her brother Paul, Bobs eldest daughters name sake were possibly raised by a grandfather or perhaps this Aunt in the above story. A google search of Paul Magaris and Navy indicates Georgia and Pauls father was lost at sea at a very young age when both she and her brother were fairly young. Perhaps just by coincidence Bobs first wife grew up with out her father, or lost him at a young age as did the last person to see him alive. Also of interest, in Paul Magaris's obit none of Georgia's family were mentioned.

I know this is a bit off of the current topic, but I was just thinking, since Bob has been gone for over a year: have we ever heard one of Bob's daughters say something like the following?

-- 'hey, I suggested that he had dementia, and that it was related to why he disappeared, but I guess I'm wrong and LE should look in other directions,'

-- or, 'hey, I said he had cold feet, but I guess I was wrong and LE should look in other directions,'

-- or, 'hey, I said that this or that person (who has subsequently been cleared) was responsible, but I was wrong, and LE should look in other directions.'

I know, that would seem to be a rhetorical question. But does it strike anyone as odd that we had, right from the start, no fewer than three theories about Bob's disappearance, broadcast by his daughters, that started as implausible and then became refuted by evidence? Why did his own blood propose such untrue and mean-spirited theories, ones which implicate innocent parties or denigrate their father and patron? I guess I cannot say, but I can only think that there is some wickedness behind such theories and those who embraced them so enthusiastically.

IMO your last two sentences say it all Montjoy and I think you answered your own question very well. ;)

Forgive me missing a question-I believe that one of you asked about the hearing yesterday. In lieu of the hearing, it is my understanding that Fontelle generously turned over the contents of the house on Carnation drive for the daughters to pick through. The last report I had from a witness was that there were moving vans and the walls were taken out to the studs.

But perhaps that is just an exaggeration.

One has to wonder if the new patio lights which have sat on the back porch to this very day, uninstalled inspite of being used as "evidence" that JM had been asked to install them, were taken along with the rest of the items.

:) Just wonderin.

ETA: oh I forgot, from the last list of memorabilia attached to the motion, Fontelle was to be left with Bob's mattresses and the chair lift.

Well, I assume then now that Bobs daughters have succesfully denuded his home this should free up much of their time to put forth equal effort and energy into the search for their missing father.

This may be the opportunity for Bobs daughters to show their true colors, if those colors differ from what we have seen the last 18 months.

I wouldn't hold your breath.

I wouldn't hold your breath.

I won't. I'm well aware of the odds of lightening striking the same place three times in the same day and the odds of the Chicago Cubs exceeding the number of world series wins under the Yankee's belt. A girl can still hope.....

Tacky to quote myself, but I hear RB arrived with three moving vans, an attorney and movers. She will be back later in the week to get the rest of the items in the house.

Wonder if they found Bob's wallet. If they locate it I am quite certain they will turn it over to PPD.

Three moving vans? Wow! I guess the daughters have no hope their father will be found alive.

I bet they felt like they won the lotto yesterday.

Well, its what they wanted all along... that, and the checks to start rolling in.

  • #418
The reason I mention the wallet is the whole glasses, no glasses, hat, no hat, keys, no keys moving target of a description that went out when he disappeared. I mean, it is fair to carry it forward to his wallet. And or his checkbook. I dont know about Bob, but my Grandfather always carried his in the breast pocket of whatever shirt he was wearing.

So let's say that the checkbook and the wallet were found in the house...just for example. I would think that this would solidify the belief that the man was not coming back. :(

It would be interesting to find out if handyman JM, formerly JF, was at the house to help out.

I can only imagine what I would think if Bob was my father or grandfather and what the strong paternal influence in my family would have done with the knowledge of yesterdays news. Someone would be rolling over in their grave.

the POI's might call this a victory, but in my book this is just one more step, and one more piece of the puzzle LE is putting together with the criminal investigation.

Believe had an excellent point wondering about Bobs checkbook and wallet as an example.

Darkness never outshines the light.

Justice for Bob!
