Agreed & great point made. ^^^

She would've known IF there was a kidnapping, that the first place authorities will go to -- esp. in a public place -- will be the cameras to check the vehicles coming & going ?
Imo.

Maybe she just drove around until she found a parking lot with no visible cameras, and didn’t think it through beyond that.

I’m not understanding why he was still allowed around his children after those charges.

But the reason to leave the field had to make sense - the kid needed a mouthpiece. Supposedly she was at the field with her husband and two other children. She left him and the other two kids, to go to Big Five to get a mouthpiece. That could have been planned in advance, I suppose. But you raise a good point about the cameras there not working.

Maybe she's been in that particular store before and somehow knew that, Cabazon doesn't have a Big Five. If kids are in sports she likely shopped there previously.

I've seen comments about that plaza from locals. They say the Big Lots closed and there's a thrift store and really nothing else, it's older.

ETA - do we know they weren't in two separate vehicles that day? Maybe I don't have my facts straight.

How long would it have taken for her to get to the store, shop for.the mouth piece and return to the field? Would the game or practice still have been going on?

Practices/games apparently end at 8pm per the Youth Football info.
Big 5 is five minutes from 7th Street Park, where they have their events.
A little late in the game to be running to the store for a mouth guard, IMO.

and in that short time a stranger is lurking, hoping a mom will show up with a baby he can abduct. What are the odds?

Forgot that the Big Five tied into the mouth guard story, the basics of which haven’t been disproved yet. Even if she had been there before, I don’t think cameras are something you notice unless you have reason to — especially the absence of cameras.

Clerk could have mentioned something offhand in a previous visit, who knows. I'm not discounting anything at this point.

When considering the abduction story, since I’ve watched a lot of SVU over the years, I could think of a reason that could cause a man to take a baby on impulse, so I couldn’t dismiss it as completely implausible.

But MOO, LE has now all but confirmed the baby was not abducted by a stranger. Earlier I laid out my reasons for believing they were not treating this as a kidnapping, and now we know (generally) why.

Speaking of SVU, I recall there was an old episode where a parent called in a kidnapping to cover up what turned out to be a death that did not result from foul play, but especially with the information about the charges against the father, foul play seems most likely. And while I will still generally not judge the sincerity of a parent’s reaction from a television appearance, I think if LE had detected any normal grief from the mother, which you would see even with a negligent death, the statement might have read differently. So, MOO we’re looking at foul play.

I think domestic violence by the father against both the baby and mother could explain a lot of the weirdness. I think that’s actually most likely. The theory then would be that the mother has her reasons for not wanting to leave him or have him go to jail, and has been complicit. And that could be the cause of the black eye (the consensus seems to be that the bruise looks old, which would rule out the possibility of a self-inflicted bruise to support the story).

When you frame the task as, “what’s a story that could explain this black eye and a missing baby that won’t have authorities looking in Cabazon?”, then I think you’re getting closer to something that makes some sense. If there is abuse in that house, I would assume they have a long history of their children not telling on them, which would explain why they didn’t consider that to be a flaw in their story.

So given what we now know, I expect we will learn that the baby was not seen alive by any witnesses or cameras in Yucaipa that day.

Still curious about why she wasn’t worried about cameras quickly disproving her story. I have no theory there.
Really great points. I believe that DV is a leitmotif running through this family (and extended family), and MOO she is currently trying not to rock the boat with someone with whom she is currently living. He is escalating his abuse from past adjudicated incidents to the disappearance, possible killing, of a child. I don't know if any of the other four children in the household are hers or if some of them are her stepchildren, but I believe she knows she's not safe and the children are not safe. I think this is why she invented a story about a stranger. (Susan Smith, Charles Stuart, the list goes on.) I think she is in a very dangerous situation right now.

I once had a black eye from hitting my face on the edge of a very skinny metal stall door that was opened at just the right angle so I couldn't see it. BUT it also left marks on my cheekbone and forehead. I was walking fast and hit it so hard I might have had a mild concussion. So while that can happen, there would be something more than just a black eye to show for it probably.

Also, a broken nose can cause a black eye.
Yah exactly, to hit only the eye in a forward shove fall is pretty unlikely. There would be marks somewhere else.

If she is claiming the black eye is from the 'hola hollering broad daylight abductor' then I'm reallllly struggling to buy that 😑

There we go. LE confirms inconsistencies and mama stops speaking. They always come up with these cockadoodle hinkydinky fables thinking that the police won't see right through them.

Least the convos about the (older than 1/2days) black eye can cease a tad now.
I'm hoping and praying that this is a failed attempt at some sort of financial gain through crowd sourcing or something, Shannon Matthews style, and that little Emmanuel is safe, but I really doubt it. I can imagine more information coming out about domestic violence in the home and hopefully we will get answers soon 😞

I just assume most places have surveillance cameras, at least to mitigate theft. That doesn't concern me since I'm not stealing from my local shops. I certainly don't go around checking for cameras.

She said she had to go to a Big 5 store to buy a mouth guard for her stepson.
[snip]
"He was a healthy baby, he was crawling, he was kicking, he was playing with his toys. Whoever took our son, please give him back," the baby's father, Jake Haro, told ABC7.
'Inconsistencies' found in statement by mom of missing baby, San Bernardino County authorities say

MOO there is a reason why she and little Emmanuel went alone on this mission. I want to know who saw her that day before this incident. I want to know who saw the baby that day before this incident. I want to know if anyone saw the mother without sunglasses that day prior to the reported abduction. I want to know what the children have had to say about the condition of mom and baby prior to the game/practice.

I think now is where search warrants for digital devices and vehicles come into play.

I hope this doesn't count as victim blaming seems as though authorities have pretty much confirmed they aren't buying the abduction story... I believe that there is a reason she *and Emmanuel went alone to the shop - because the father wasn't there. A father with a record for child abuse just happens to have a very public alibi at a ball game with a ton of people when his son "gets abducted" very convenient.

MOO

ETA - *I don't believe Emmanuel was with her at the shop 😞

I agree and admit I'm worried. Please let this all be resolved fast.

As a woman over 40, I constantly need to remind myself that I'm not a youngster anymore. My elevator was slow so I decided to run down nine flights of stairs when I clunked my head taking a fast turn. The two minutes I saved were lost with a visit to urgent care.in
As the 'Stones say, "What a drag it is getting old."
In truth, however, middle age does indeed have its perks. Been there, doing that, already. ;-)

Wondering how much new info we will see. Hoping things are okay, but SMH.
