I wonder why they didn’t use the driveway heating. Or maybe Honey and Barry hadn’t turned it on, so the police left it?
see in the far right corner, it is a snow bank, small yes but plowed snow to the edge of the driveway. Maybe only part of the driveway was heated, like the ramp to the garage?

Possibly this one?

Detectives even asked the architects designing the new Sherman home about infidelity. Joe Brennan, possibly the last person to see the Shermans alive together on the Wednesday evening before they were murdered (a house design meeting at Apotex) also told police he “never sensed any concerns about infidelity.”

At that meeting, the architects recalled how Barry and Honey were getting along well, and that Barry, not normally interested in such matters, was weighing in on his preference for sliding doors in the mansion — not French doors.

One of the architects present said “he also heard Barry making comments about how it was such a large home and why were they making such a large place when he probably only had another 10 or so years left to live.”

I would expect the Shermans were working with this builders team for a long while, months if not over a year if LE felt they would have that type of personal intel on their relationship, it is telling the wording used . "and that Barry, not normally interested in such matters, - if they did not have multiple meeting prior how could they be asked or answer that question, I assume a prior question was how long have you been working with the Shermans, then the questions may have gotten more personal. To design and build a home of this magnitude, I am sure they have gotten to know the personalities of both BS & HS very well. laying out plans on rooms and what use etc- an example of no talk about BS needing his own bedroom - that would be something they could call a red flag on the relationship. all my opinion only.

do you know how you know it is an employee of Apotex?
The woman told the news reporter that she worked at Apotex and was devastated to have heard the news that day...and then raised the crime tape and proceeded walking to the Sherman's door. The station was CTV News.

It seemed like both of the Shermans were more than willing to cancel just about anything, to have this meeting with the architects, imho. Honey had missed a meeting the day before (Dec 12th when she uncharacteristically failed to send her regrets), possibly and presumably because of the meeting that was scheduled to take place with the architects at noon at her home; Barry had missed one of his bestie's Christmas parties on same day, Dec 12th, also so he could attend the architect meeting at his home at noon; then when that meeting ended up getting changed to the next day, the Wednesday, I believe H&B changed their plans with their daughter Alex to attend a Hanukkah dinner at Alex and Brad's home on the Tues(?), and it was postponed until Fri...... so it seems like it was one of the people who attended the architect's meeting at APO who changed the meeting day/time/location. Who attended the meeting? We know one was Joe Brennan:

According to KD, these people were at the meeting:

Home builders last to see couple alive

The documents appear to bolster a working police theory that the Shermans were likely killed 36 hours before being discovered.

They suggest the last people to see the Shermans alive were a custom home builder, architect and subcontractor who met with the couple around 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, to go over some details of the new $20 million home they planned to build.

Wasn't the Apotex Christmas party also on December 13?

I had a thought this morning, that the meeting at Apotex allowed the killer to potentially slip into the house while it was empty. Is it possible this is more than just a coincidence? We know the meeting was originally scheduled for Tuesday at lunch. We don't know why it was switched. Did an insider connected to the killer suggest to Barry that he have the meeting at Apotex Wednesday night?
The architects, etc. had a lot to lose if something happened to BS & HS since their projects were canceled after they were killed.

I actually wasn't thinking of the builders. I read somewhere that they were waiting to hear whether the meeting would be at Old Colony or Apotex, so that was Barry's decision. Why did he decide on Apotex? Did anyone influence that decision? We know he spoke to FDA on the phone Tuesday night and emailed with JS on Wednesday morning.

"Getting along well" and BS still protesting against such a large home, doesn't really fit, IMO. Perhaps the tone was moderate and not loud and annoying - that may be.

I took that as sarcasm. Making a joke about being dead in ten years and not needing a large home. I think he said it with a smile. JMO

Still wondering which foreign country ''surrendered evidence.''

''A foreign country has surrendered “evidence” to Toronto homicide detectives probing the targeted murders of billionaires Barry and Honey Sherman, police documents filed in court reveal.
And, in a second indication of activity on the almost three-year-old case, detectives have recently served a search warrant somewhere in Canada.
“The results (of these searches) have yielded new evidence and have assisted investigators in corroborating existing evidence, such as witness statements, tips and video surveillance,” according to Det.-Const. Dennis Yim of the Toronto homicide unit.''

''The foreign country is not identified in the Yim affidavit. It is one of 35 countries that have a special treaty with Canada — Israel, the United States, Italy, Austria and Mexico are examples''

Perhaps it was more convenient to meet at Barry's office so he could finish up at work instead of cutting his day short. Maybe the builders were not available to meet latter that evening, as in 9 pm.

Maybe not though....Peeps usually down size in their later years, not upsize. I think as we all age, we become cognizant of our mortality.

Maybe most people in later years downsize because they can’t afford house cleaners and plant waterers and others to come in to tend to every need like billionaires can.

Most people do downsize in their later years, even wealthy ones. He was at the age of knowing his physical limitations. That said, apparently his wife wanted to go all out for a gigantic home. Go figure.

I know people today who, upon retirement, are going into debt to buy massive new homes. Last thing I want when I retire is a new mortgage on a big McMansion.

I agree. The wealthy people that I know of that have downsized give the reason that their mobility isn't what it used to be. They don't want to walk a long ways to get to the kitchen (for example) many don't want a pool anymore because they don't find any use for a pool now that they are older and no longer use a pool/sauna etc. They don't have the energy or mobility to walk around the massive grounds that many of them have. They want things to be easier, less things to worry about. They still have the house keepers and chefs, but long for a smaller home and property, a lot less stress.

Yes. "Most" people can no longer afford the upkeep of their homes- property taxes, mow the lawn, or handle the stairs ., "Most" people want to down size because they want to have money being on a fixed income, not knowing how long they will live on, especially if they are still in reasonably good health and may need care at a later date. We understand the Sherman's did not represent "most" people.

There are also those who can afford to buy a condo in the city. have a home south for winter and still maintain a cottage instead of keeping their family home.

interesting thought branmuffin. was this the purpose of this "architecture" meeting, I too wonder what was the agenda to be addressed during this 1 hour.

Possibly it was to lower the cost of the new build? But I think the $$ for this house was already accounted for in the "$$ gift" that HS was to receive from BS.

In typical BS fashion, he could have been counting pennies on the additional cost to have French doors, the old home had sliders, keeping in line with the other comment that the home was too big.

French patio doors typically cost more than sliding patio doors, but the cost of either door style can vary greatly depending on the custom options you choose. In fact, Home Advisor estimates the average cost to install any door is between $475 and $1291, which is a fairly wide range.Dec 15, 2016

If those french doors are anything like the ones I've seen in upmarket homes they are more like in the neighbourhood of 12 to 15K each. An acquaintance of mine installed these incredible sliding doors in their kitchen (home about 90 years old) that opened up the whole back of the kitchen. Black metal, nearly 8 feet tall, cost them about 40 grand). So I would think with a home that's costing upward of 20 million bucks they are going to be paying premium $$ for the doors.

I think BS, being such a pragmatic and logical person, probably wasn't worried about the cost but the efficiency of french doors vs sliders.

It could be Japan.

That's the usual logic but I know there are some people who buy huge cottages up here in Muskoka. Way bigger than their homes in TO. I think they see it as a multi-generational home which is what Honey was thinking about based on some of the anecdotal evidence we have heard.
