Vance and the missus put the entire base, including the Commander in an invidious position. They had to maintain good relations with the Greenlanders and the Danish and that eyelining fool shot his rude , ignorant mouth off and she pays the price..

Yes, apparently Vance repeated criticism and critiques of NATO members and longtime allies. He told them that Denmark has not done a good job by the people of Greenland.

Col Meyers sent her email to all base personnel, including Danes and Greenlanders, saying that all of their flags fly proudly together.

(according to my previously linked article)

Friend ....

Mr Trump again said he was optimistic about reaching a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"He's been a friend of mine for a long period of time, and I think that we'll end up working out something that's very good for both countries," Mr Trump said.

Markets plunge again as US confirms China tariff even higher

China raises tariffs on US goods from 84% to 125%, finance ministry says – business live

China ramps up trade war and says it will fight to the end against Donald Trump’s tariffs

Xi didn't feel too friendly.. He certainly worked out the deal, alright.. Vance and his ningnong mouth probably got the USA an extra 20% on top of what Xi maybe was planning . If only the two of them ( Vance and Trump ) knew how to get what they wanted without all the crudeness and idiocy..

Our world has some real heroes emerging, the above-mentioned lady, Zelensky of course, going back a bit Navalny, who else? (It's my bedtime!) The good people of this world should maybe club together and issue medals to our modern day heroes who are fighting the emerging evil in this world.

Donald saying Xi Jinping has been a friend of his for a long time, is um 👀
Who needs enemies when Donald is on your friends list.

Moo

He also said that about the other world leaders after starting this tariff nonsense, 'they're friends of mine'. I think I heard them all rolling their eyes.

IMO, Donald has never had a personal relationship. He doesn't know what 'friend' means, MOO. IMO, a friend is someone who has something he wants.

And an enemy is a friend who says no to him.

Probably, but Canadians are quietly boycotting all things from the USA. We carefully check food packaging for the words "product of Canada". If it says "made in Canada, it means at least 51% is Canadian, which isn't good enough. We will do without nuts if necessary until the end of the war. Meanwhile, Atlantic lobster is $13CAN in Western Canada. That's a deal!
We are getting nuts from Italy in some stores in bc

Yes, the tariffs are seen by some as promoting “manly” factory jobs. Jesse Waters on Fox said this…

And it gets worse. We women can go back to the kitchen and make sandwiches.

Doesn't Jesse Waters sit behind a screen all day, making himself a woman?

I don't know that Australia imports any nuts from the US.
Not sure about other fruit.
In the past I have seen Californian oranges at Aldi.
A cursory check of Woolworths shows multiple brands of both Californian and Australian walnuts. So, check the labels. Their Macro branded one especially very boldly is 'Australian Walnuts '.

As a baker, I think it's worth considering buying Australian and using them quickly. One of the reasons walnuts end up bitter is, essentially, we don't eat them fresh and they get more and more bitter the longer they sit on the shelf. If you buy a smaller quantity of local and use them promptly, they're far less likely to be bitter and give a good flavour to your cooking.

If DT falls in a heap and loses his job (be still, my beating heart!) I wonder what career he might take up next. Real estate may be the obvious answer of course, given his vast knowledge and experience. Or he may become a pro golfer, we hear he's pretty good! Perhaps a financial advisor or similar?Any other ideas?
I stopped at 'falls in a heap'.

Oh yeah I'm sure they are the best of buddies 😂
Pretty sure China won't be the one who backs down.

I had to look and see if they had ever met. They have .. twice. In 2017 and 2019. The first time at Mar A Lago. The second time in Osaka, Japan.

In one breath Trump said .... "Listen you mother(bleep), we're going to tax you 25 per cent,"
In the next breath he said .... "President Xi is a terrific guy, I like being with him a lot, and he's a very special person,"

They have immensely different backgrounds. Xi grew up in poverty in a cave home, they had to eat leaves, a villager remembers him as being very skinny.

"Mr Xi was not going to be dictated to on trade by a US president."
"If you watch, as I did on any number of occasions, Donald Trump on the opposite side of the table from Xi Jinping, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong-un — it's not a fair fight," he [John Bolton] said.
"They are extraordinarily focused, hard headed, knowledgeable, experienced and thoroughly ruthless."

I put them in the fridge so that they’ll last longer.

Yeah, I especially keep nut meals like almond meal in the fridge because they don't keep otherwise. Whole nuts are a little more robust, especially if they're still in the shell, but nut meals just don't handle Australian temperatures for long.

US government bonds are tanking again. The yield has just reached the same point as brought about Wednesday's cave. How is he going to get out of the corner he's painted himself into this time?

China has indicated it does not intend to go higher than 125%, saying it would be meaningless to engage in further escalation.

“The successive imposition of excessively high tariffs on China by the US has become nothing more than a numbers game, with no real economic significance,” a spokesperson for China’s Commerce Ministry said in a statement Friday.

[…]

While China says it “will not engage” in further tariff hikes, it has plenty of other options in its toolbox.

Influential Chinese commentators with links to Beijing have floated a series of possible countermeasures China could take, including suspending cooperation on fentanyl, banning the import of US poultry, limiting market access for services such as legal consultancies and investigating how much American companies earned from their intellectual property in China.

Psst ... walnuts grow in Ontario.
I can confirm. The walnut tree in our backyard in Belleville while I was posted to Trenton, put out. It was quite suprising given the climatic zone.

They were delicious.

Some fact checking on Donald's claims in recent weeks.
General takeaway is Donald lies. A lot.

I have sent a flare up with your enquiry, to the media person attached to 'Sons of The Ice'.. auto reply says ' he is on military patrol, ( he is embedded ) and will reply within a day.. ' 😲

That's one smart penguin! He's obviously not about to disclose OPSEC matters to the public hordes via Signal, facebook, X or any groupchat really!
