I have sent a flare up with your enquiry, to the media person attached to 'Sons of The Ice'.. auto reply says ' he is on military patrol, ( he is embedded ) and will reply within a day.. ' 😲

Cashews are grown commercially in Vietnam and Brazil. A small number can be grown in southern Florida, Puerto Rico and Hawaii, but not enough for a country-wide supply.
There are a number of tropical crops which can in theory be grown in the US but not in large scale commercial quantities. Coffee (Hawaii, Puerto Rico and some experimental plantings in California), coconuts and mangos (along the SW Florida coast) for example, but the regions they can be grown in are extremely limited and even then they aren't entirely reliable. Mangos, for example, cannot tolerate cold and we have seen the odd frozen lizard event in Florida over the years which would kill the trees.

I suspect that some additional semi-tropical crops could be grown in California, but is there the water to do so? The water problems seen during the January wildfires in LA suggests otherwise. California agriculture may be at its limit.

The video was AI generated but I couldn’t find anything about the singer. Can AI do that too?

I know that AI can do voices talking, and lyrics for songs and poems etc, but I'm not sure about singing.

If DT falls in a heap and loses his job (be still, my beating heart!) I wonder what career he might take up next. Real estate may be the obvious answer of course, given his vast knowledge and experience. Or he may become a pro golfer, we hear he's pretty good! Perhaps a financial advisor or similar?Any other ideas?

The Chinese aren't backing down. Instead they've upped the ante and increased tariffs on American goods to 125%.

At these sorts of rates, doesn't trade in goods between the two largest economies on earth essentially become economically unviable.

Well, I know one of our industries that is perking up in Australia is our almond industry, which might step in to supply countries if people stop buying American. It looks like we grow walnuts, too. Don't know if we export many, but it might be worth looking out for them, just in case!

MOO
There is clearly going to be massive trade substitution if the USA-China tariffs stay at this sort of level for any length of time, as both countries look for alternative sources of products that they used to buy from each other. Potentially this could provide oportunities for the rest of us if we play our cards right.

Moo, it won't be the outcome he wants but Donald and his crew will say it's exactly what they wanted all along!
He should be out of a job, heck, the numpty shouldn't have been given the job in the first place. It's like watching an episode of the Simpson's with Homer in charge of the big red nuclear power button.
If he's impeached, which moo will only be a matter of time, because you know, no one wants to be ridiculed the way the States will be if this carries on, I don't think the VP will be any better either

Moo
What's happening at the moment is more like when Homer was elected as Springfield's Sanitation Commissioner.

Friend ....

Mr Trump again said he was optimistic about reaching a deal with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"He's been a friend of mine for a long period of time, and I think that we'll end up working out something that's very good for both countries," Mr Trump said.

AP may be able to access the Oval Office & Air Force One to report on these matters again, first hand .... if the administration abides by US District Judge Trevor McFadden's ruling. This is a preliminary injunction. McFadden is a Trump appointee.

Two AP journalists, Zeke Miller, the agency's chief White House correspondent, and Evan Vucci, its chief Washington photographer testified to the court.

They both told the court that the restrictions had hampered the AP's ability to cover Mr Trump.

"We're basically dead in the water on major stories," testified Mr Vucci, the photographer behind the now-iconic image of the president pumping his fist after a 2024 assassination attempt.

The you-know-what has finally hit the fan.... Xi has run put of patience and is dealing with this lying tantrum thrower with a bit of discipline .

China raises tariffs on US goods from 84% to 125%, finance ministry says – business live

BREAKING: China has announced additional tariffs on US goods to 125%, according to Reuters.

That is up from the previous level of 84%.

China’s finance ministry is reported as saying that if the US insists on continuing to infringe upon China’s interest in a substantive way, China will resolutely take countermeasures and fight to the end.

Helen Davidson
China has raised its tariffs on US products to 125% in the latest salvo of the trade dispute with Washington, just hours after Xi Jinping said there were “no winners in a tariff war”.

Xi made the comments during a meeting with the Spanish prime minister in which he invited the EU to work with China to resist “bullying”, part of an apparent campaign to shore up other trading partners.

The Chinese commerce ministry announced on Friday that it was raising the 84% tariffs on all US imports to 125%, again saying that China was ready to “fight to the end”.

The statement also suggested it may be Beijing’s last move in the tit-for-tat tariff raises as “at the current tariff level, there is no market acceptance for US goods exported to China”.

Pedro Sanchez and Xi Jinping.. a formidable combo..

a little picture of the rockstar , Pedro

Greenland ....

Colonel Susannah Meyers, commander of Pituffik Space Base was removed from command by Colonel Kenneth Klock, commander of Space Base Delta 1, on April 10, 2025 for loss of confidence in her ability to lead. Link

Why ....

Just days after Vice President JD Vance's March visit to Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, the installation commander sent out an email to the base distancing it from Vance’s criticism of Denmark and its oversight of the territory.

Col. Susan Meyers, the commander of the 821st Space Base Group who also oversees the Pentagon's northernmost military base, sent a March 31 message to all personnel at Pituffik seemingly aimed at generating unity among the airmen and Guardians, as well as the Canadians, Danes and Greenlanders who work there, following Vance's appearance. She wrote that she "spent the weekend thinking about Friday's visit -- the actions taken, the words spoken, and how it must have affected each of you."

Vance and the missus put the entire base, including the Commander in an invidious position. They had to maintain good relations with the Greenlanders and the Danish and that eyelining fool shot his rude , ignorant mouth off and she pays the price..
