Our farmer friend needs to check his incoterms and make sure that in future he's buying on a DDP basis. Of course, it's entirely up to the seller if they wish to sell on a DDP basis, and if they do they will obviously roll the duty into the price of the product and charge more for it.

I know - when tariffs were first announced, Trump propaganda was everywhere claiming that tariffs make USA consumers rich while foreign companies pay into the External Revenue Office. Canadians were trying to explain how tariffs work, but it's apparent today that the only way people in the USA understand government decisions is when those executive orders deplete their bank accounts. Then there's a stunned reaction of "wait a minute ..."
