According to a 2017 report, "there are two basic strains of Mennonites in Canada: the Swiss-South German Mennonites came via Pennsylvania, and the Dutch-North German Mennonites came via Russia (Ukraine). And from your link, there seems to be a massive majority of Canadian measles cases in Ontario. 804 of the total 880 cases, so far.
ETA: I just saw @Cedars post that there was a large Mennonite gathering in Ontario that is responsible for those high numbers in that province.

Unlike the common adenoviruses and such that cause the usual colds, Measles has the capacity to cause death, brain damage from encephalitis, deafness and other severe and debilitating neurological side effects as well as miscarriage, low birth weight and other negative pregnancy outcomes.
It does not cause birth defects, as rubella does.
Chicken pox ( Varicella) also causes rashes, but does not have anywhere near the morbidity that Measles does. That is why there used to be Chicken Pox parties decades ago so that kids could all get the Chicken Pox at the same time, recover and have immunity,
No one advocates Measles Parties, as the risk of complications in children or immunocompromised people is so high and the consequences so severe.

There may have been some misguided measles parties in the past, but normally the word went out and the home of children with measles became quarantined. Physicians knew there was a high risk of serious disease and the word went out in a neighborhood or town for children to stay away from homes with measles.
Its a really seriously strong NO in current pediatrics.

When I was a kid in the 50s (born 1946) my Mom hoped to expose me to rubella (then called German measles) so I wouldn’t get it as an adult when I was pregnant. She never succeeded, but I did get regular measles…not at a party though. I also got chicken pox and scarlet fever, but not mumps. Of course, the big scare was polio, so it was a huge relief when the vaccine came out. I had both the shot and sugar cube versions. I was certainly glad there were various vaccinations when our daughter was born in 1970.
