CANADA Canada - Jack, 4 & Lily Sullivan, 6, Vulnerable, wandered from home 10am, Gairloch Rd, Landsdowne Station, Pictou County, NS, 2 May 2025 #2

Another reason I was curious about the timeline is were the children fully aware they weren’t supposed to be going to school that day if neither parent had spoken to Lily that morning, considering she was already dressed and left with her backpack. In my life sick children just stayed in their pyjamas. Although we don’t know what time the school bus passes by their house, might they have walked down the driveway to wait on the road for it?

Big IF they were taken by someone known to them, what a better opportunity than to drive down the road ahead of the school bus, stop and offer them a ride to school. My speculation only….

This is an interesting theory and certainly plausible.

I asked back in the first thread about where exactly the little boot prints were located and didn't receive an answer. Does anyone know where they were found? If out by the road, it could support this theory.

To also add to it, the step-father said the kids would jump into someone's car if they seemed friendly and offered them a snack or to take them somewhere they know.

Take this as a moo, because I don't recall which article I read it in. There was a boot print (or set of prints) to the side of the house print pointing to the road. It did not say where at the side of the house. This is not fact until someone finds the article.

I've been wondering where the boot prints were as well. I had also read, or at least thought I did, that the scent dogs didn't sniff anything beyond the end of the driveway. I just want to get clear on both those points.

@Palisades quoted this article in post #3 of the first thread. Just found it when I was looking for the same info.

She told CTV News there were footprints in the driveway leading toward the road Friday. She said people “have searched every nook and cranny” and said the two should have been found by now.

This is a quote from the Staff Sergeant at the press conference regarding a possible boot print - the possibility of a smaller boot print. (23:33 on link)

“STAFF SERGEANT
- Yeah, so at one point, there was a possible boot impression found, and I can tell you that the search and rescuers then performed grid searches of that area and expanded out from that area in a meticulous fashion. They're focused in tight searches, and nothing else was found.

REPORTER - And do you believe that the evidence you found was of the children?

STAFF SERGEANT - It appeared it was a possible boot print of a... a smaller boot print. So when we have a possibility like that, that's when we exhaust that area as well to make sure that that wasn't a clue that we were missing.”

jillybean51 sorry I missed my opportunity to reply to what you wrote on the last thread -
“In my area of Nova Scotia, the school must be notified by 8 , by the parent, if a child will not be attending school that day.”

So I wonder if and when the school was notified the children would be absent the Thursday
and Friday?

It strikes me that we likely don’t know even a quarter of investigative details that could potentially prove significant.
Thanks and ITA.
Was wondering the same !

They tend to go after prey that is roaming and loose like chickens, she said, but domestic animals aren’t on their usual menu.

“There are not a lot of wild animals that will take on a healthy, male domestic cat,” Boates said.

If someone sees a coyote running off with an animal in its mouth, it’s most likely that they scavenged a carcass.
Coyote concerns in Pictou County: ‘They’re not afraid enough’

So I doubt a coyote harmed the children, but IF they did indeed end up in the woods while still living and perished there their bodies will probably be subject to predation by coyotes or other animal life :(

I don't know if I agree with the wildlife manager of the Rehab centre. I live in Ontario and we get coyotes walking through our streets regularly. They will kill your cat, healthy or not, or a dog if you are not paying attention. They hunt singly and in pairs, sometimes groups to take larger prey like deer. They scavenge too, I saw a domestic cat with a collar on, in a coyote's mouth but according to reports the cat had already been killed on the road. So they are opportunistic, too.

Coyotes are very nimble and have been known to scale 8 foot fences. I don't think people should be in fear of coyotes but to downplay their ability to hunt and kill domestic animals or be aggressive while they are looking after their kits is a bit disingenuous, I think.

I know there's different types of trailers and some of the larger ones are called double-wide which can be 24 feet wide and anywhere from 60 to 80 feet. I've seen a couple of layouts of newer models but this one is so old it's hard to figure out where the location of the living room is as well as the location of the bedroom where DM and MBM were sleeping with their toddler. Judging by the chimney's on the roof I thought maybe the larger one on the right facing the road may have been the living room and further down in the middle where several vents and stacks are are probably the kitchen and the bathroom. So are the bedrooms on the other side of the trailer where the smaller windows are? What is the room with the small landing and single door at the back? The kitchen? Just trying to figure out where the parents actually were.

this may have been posted but if so I missed it. More from Daniel.

“I’m fighting to stay awake at this point. I’m just so drained,” he said. “But the fight goes on. Fight will always go on.”

“I talked to the last of RCMP in the area that I’ve seen. They were at Lansdowne Lake and they told me they scoured the lake with divers and [used] sonar [technology] in the lake and there’s no evidence at all. I don’t know what to think. If they were in this area, they would have found them. My family is still searching, and we’re never going to give hope. We’re going to continue to look, and probably continue to look for the rest of my life,” he said.

“I just try not to read it. It’s just opinions of people that don’t know absolutely anything. They don’t know what’s going on,” he said. “Driving by slowly, some people stop. Some people snap pictures. People just almost have no respect.”
[snip]

“I don’t know [what to think] at this point,” he said. “It’s hard to stay positive because I’m just not hearing anything positive.

“I’m working closely with the RCMP and major crime units. Trying to get everything we can, all the information. Those guys have been really good to work with.”

Is the boyfriend?
I haven't seen anything regarding that. I just remember reading about Jack and Lily's mom being with the "band" (I assume that is like "tribe") and made the assumption that she was Sipekne’katik First Nation as her children were. I could be wrong, now that I think of it. And I can't find the article where I read that.

So Jack and Lily are Sipekne’katik First Nation. I don't know if anyone else is or how or if that affects anything. I mentioned it because sometimes it does matter as to how a case is handled.
