There’s something very unusual about this photo of the burned truck which doesn’t make any sense. Notice the vegetation and trees including the green weeds right behind the truck box which the camper was sitting atop of...that reportedly melted due to the high intensity heat? JMO but the site of the burning truck and camper can’t have been exactly where some of the media reports state, at the same site as this photo. I think it was towed out of the deeper bush.

B.C. teens charged with 2nd-degree murder as Canada-wide manhunt continues
The vegetation directly around the truck is burnt. Also don't forget the truck was spotted on fire so it safe to assume they were able to get it doused fast enough

Extracts from the article:
“I will confirm these two individuals did stop in to my business for haircuts early Friday afternoon (July 19),” remarked the owner of a local hair salon.
LOL I think I'll wait and see if the RCMP "confirm" it. LOL

Early pictures of the truck show it with the hood closed. It’s only after they started processing the truck that images, with the yellow evidence markers, show it with the hood open.

It appears the media was present as the truck was being processed so maybe this man opened the hood? But no earlier photos of the truck and camper while it was still burning. I don’t think the media perked up until the report of the body found nearby was released. The B.C. RCMP press release was at 4:11pm the same day.

Does anybody have the ETA for an RCMP update of their findings?

Media wasn’t allowed at the site until late the 23rd? These pics were first posted by Global at 1:23am July 24th. By then the public focus was all on Gillam and area because later that the day the burned RAV4 was found. The earliest “closed hood” photos I’m able to find are also from media reports dated July 23rd.

#UPDATE: We've now accessed the site where that truck—driven by homicide suspects Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod—was found, burning, near #DeaseLake last week. The body of an unidentified man, suspected to have been killed by the pair, was found a short distance away.

It was found on fire in the afternoon. So most likely noon is the earliest they left the Dease Lake location.

Fair point, I did some more looking and there's no actual time reported on the pickup that I could find. Other than a report was written at 4:11 PM on the 19th via the RCMP website. I'm probably confusing it with the discovery of Fowler and Deese. Shame the RCMP didn't post it to Twitter like they did with the RAV because that really helped narrow down the time frames. This got me thinking, that was a bold move lighting the pickup on fire in broad daylight. Perhaps there is some truth to the hitchhiking story (prior to the burning) if the truck just quit on them. It was an old Dodge. Appears to be a 1992 model. I also wonder if they were indeed hitchhiking, they started walking South on 37 and just happened upon Leonard parked and napping. I am convinced though, they killed Leonard exactly where his body was found. Would they have actually killed him during the day? Also a very bold move. That could also explain why we're yet to learn his cause of death and it's fairly safe to say, guns were not used in his murder. I just can't imagine Kam and Bryer sticking round long after killing Leonard. They probably panicked, hence leaving so much of their stuff behind. It sounds like a very spur of the moment unplanned murder and they got outta there within an hour of killing him.

Anyone who may have missed it, here's the video of both pullouts and their proximity to the road.

Also, here's an article which posted a Google satellite map of where Leonard Dyck's body was found. I estimated Kam and Bryer were camped at that next bend in the road heading back up 37 towards the Stikine Bridge.

I think on Monday they said it will be in the next couple of weeks.

Ya this is why I was wanting to see the front of it. I was wondering if they wrecked it somehow and were stranded (hence the hitchhiking). The frame just looked off a bit in the front from the few angles I have seen, then I started to notice I couldn't find any front views after it was burned out.

Edit: My husband throwing out the theory they tried fixing it (why the hood is up) and ended up starting it on fire instead. Or if LD tried helping them and same thing happened and they took it out on him for losing everything.

Okay, so flipping this thing on its head, would a mechanic like Lucas Fowler be able to help fix a diesel engine? I don't know his qualifications.

Let's say if they stopped behind the van to ask him for help, maybe as a ruse, maybe not...

Not sure if this has been shared already, but I think I saw someone asking about why they hadn’t been spotted in gas stations en route? Apparently, these photos of Kam were taken at Abasand Esso in Fort Mcmurry, Alberta

They say Fairview. Fort McMurray is way far out of their way.

I haven't seen that before. Thank you!

This IMHO speaks a lot to their route (It reports them as being in Fairview, AB). It looks to me like they didn't go through Dawson Creek, but cut across on 64, from Fort St. John, BC, on the Alaska Highway.

The hood being up is a non-issue.

Fire fighters open the hood as part of the process of extinguishing vehicle fires.

The email says they were spotted at the Parkland location in Fairview, AB - not Fort McMurray. This looks like a warning to the employees of the Abasand Esso in Fort McMurray which google maps tells me is 760km away.

Butter bird location across the street, of course. Should have known.

I hope someone checked with the restaurant owners. Seriously. No kidding.

First off, great find! Did you mean Fairview, Alberta? That's what it says on the poster. Also, looking at it on Google Maps, it appears as though they could have driven back up to Dease Lake on Friday got on Highway 97, taking them past where Deese and Fowler were found and driven 97 all the way to Fairview. Crazy. I'm purely speculating. They could have just as well taken a different route but it caught my attention. Judging by time frames and sun angle I want to take a guess and say those photos were shot on Saturday afternoon?

That roof rack doesn't look like the Rav4 in Gillam. Note the stripes on the spare tire? I realize the image is poor, but is this the same vehicle? Why no photo of Bryer?

Striped vehicle...hmm.

I noticed that too. My guess is they sped off from Prof Dyck's murder scene going north and obviously they didn't want to double back and go past the scene again, so they just continued on. Looking at their route, it honestly looks like to me that they just kept driving in a random direction with no particular plan for where they were going. It says it would have taken 38 hours to drive, but that doesn't count stops, getting stuck in the mud, etc.

So it begs the question on whether they drove north after stealing Mr. Dyck's Rav4 and entered through Fort ST John....or did they take the southern escape via Prince George and on to Dawson Creek.
