I have been reading this thread for quite some time. You guys are great! Has anyone considered RW to be involved in the CFB Trenton murder of Kathleen MacVicar? Her remains were found on base property, June 15, 2001. I can't seem to find a thread for her case here..is there one? Any input would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I think LE has already ruled out RW on this, though I'd have to go back and check for the news article that states that to be 100% sure.

There were some early reports that RW had been ruled out in Kathleen's death, but that was denied by the OPP on Feb 10:

The O-P-P deny a media report Colonel Russell Williams has been ruled out as a suspect in the unsolved 2001 death of Kathleen MacVicar at C-F-B Trenton.

The National Post reported MacVicar’s mother, Colleen MacVicar, said she was disappointed after police confirmed Williams was not a suspect. However, O-P-P Sergeant Kristine Rae told our newsroom this morning investigators are still concentrating on the four offences Williams is charged with, and haven’t had time to begin looking at other unsolved crimes where he was posted, including the MacVicar murder.

A B&E with the intent to sexually assault someone or murder someone would be considered an indictable offence. Theft would be considered, depending on the dollar amount.

Other examples of indictable offences are: Treason, drunk driving causing death, piracy.

An indictable offence is more serious than a summary conviction offence and it carries a lengthy maximum sentence. The accused is also allowed to elect to be tried by a higher court by judge and jury or judge alone.

Ammie: From what I understand, RW is still being investigated with regards to Kathleen's murder.

Not sure if she has her own thread here, but I have a few questions pertaining to her murder, and RW's possible involvement:

A. Why did it take 2 days for Kathleen's remains to be found? She was placed a short distance from a main highway, that connects the city and CFB Trenton, on a well travelled shortcut path. Is it possible she was held somewhere?

B. Was the placement of her remains at the DND Property line intentional?

C. Who has maintained her cross and memorial, that includes a picture, all this time?

D. Was RW moving through the Trenton Base at all during this time?

On June 13th 2001, Kathleen MacVICAR, age 19 years, was seen for the last time leaving on foot from a friend’s residence. On June 15th 2001, her body was discovered on the National Defense property, Canadian Forces Base, TRENTON, Ontario. MacVICAR was the victim of murder.

Police looking into MacVicar murder for links to arrested base commander:


In June 2001 Kathleen MacVicar, 19, was visiting her aunt and uncle at CFB Trenton, when she went missing. Three days later her body was found in a wooded section of the base. She had been stabbed multiple times and sexually assaulted. The case has never been solved.

“I have been here before, thinking we have resolved this in that respect, found the person we were looking for — someone to blame — but it has always fallen through,” her mother said.

“Until the police tell me that without a shadow of a doubt that this is who they suspect killed Kathleen, then I am just going to wait and see. I am not getting my hopes up here.”

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police contacted the MacVicar family Monday evening.
“The police told us they will be looking into it. They certainly haven’t offered us any great hope, we are just waiting to see what is going on, to see if they can give us any information on whether he was even in Trenton at the time — they don’t even know that yet.

“They just want us to be kept up in the loop.”

MacVicar said it wasn’t a heavily wooded area where her daughter was found, more like a thoroughfare.

“There was a street the school bus used and kids would be walking back and forth.
“She was probably 50 feet off the road, right where the grass ended and the woods would start. The guy who cuts the grass was actually the person who discovered her.”

Every year, MacVicar travels to the area where her daughter’s body was found.
“I go every year at the time she was missing. She went missing on the 13th and was found on the 15th. It is my personal thing, she was alone during that time so I want to be there,” she said.

“It doesn’t make much sense, but it makes sense to me as her mother.”

MacVicar said she has a great relationship with the OPP, however the military has not been co-operative.

“They have been very unforthcoming and closed-mouthed. It makes you very suspicious.”

I have to wonder, exactly what time of the year, that RW's Mother announced her impending DIVORCE from her second husband, in 2001????


In 2001, his mother divorced her second husband, sparking a rift in the family that continues to fester.

Williams' brother Harvey, now a doctor in Bowmanville, said the divorce led Williams to cut ties with his mother and brother. The two reached out a couple of years ago, hoping to repair the family rift, but have had only minimal contact with Williams since.

The earliest we seem to know of RW are only of high school and afterwards. Surely there must be something of primary school and middle school. My feelings are that there were issues when he was younger perhaps smoothed over as his parents has such pull. JMO

I too have always wondered why it took two days before Kathleen was found.

RW was " officially" posted to Ottawa at the time of Kathleen's murder. But spent time between both Trenton and and the Ottawa base. Katheen was from Glace Bay, NS but was staying with her aunt and uncle and working for the summer.Her uncle (he was military) and lived at the PMQ's. He has since been posted elsewhere. RW had accomodation at the base, it has since been rented to other military people. Of his 2 homes, this one was the one that hasn't been investigated

I have no idea who maintains Kathleen's memorial, those who care I would think or perhaps those who know more than they able to say. jmo

Yes, now that I have looked at these photos again,I think the eyes are similar, in that alot of white of the eye is showing in both sketches and the foreheads share a slightly softer (imo)almost feminine forehead.
Also, the sharp bow of the upper lip.

During the double-murder trial, court heard from Rebecca Kroetsch, a close pal of Svekla's who invited him to be a groomsman at her wedding.

Kroetsch testified Svekla called himself the "bogeyman" when she visited him at the Edmonton Remand Centre in a "bone-chilling" meeting. She said she felt at the time like Clarice from the movie Silence of the Lambs, who meets with fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter.

"I feel horrified that the person that was so good to me in our teenage years has, I believe in my heart after meeting with him, turned into a monster," she said outside court.

"It was all in the eyes. I felt this very cold, scary presence right through the glass. It was very frightening to me."

It's a tough call summer. I can see some similarity in the eyes and mouth, possibly nose. The Dec/06 composite has hair, while the Sept/07 one does not. Also, the Sept/07 one has a double chin. Could have possibly shaved his head and gained weight?
