He gave his name, David Russell Williams, and replied, Understood, thank you, when Justice of the Peace Ernie Parsons told him the matter was being adjourned to July 22.
On that date the charges will be spoken to, an agent representing defence lawyer Michael Edelson told the court.
A few hours after Col. Williams was charged, her body was found in woodland off a lightly travelled country road in Tweed, north of Belleville.

Bolded by Me: I am not sure if this has been in print before, the part about a few hours after RW was charged, that JL's body was found?

Now he is eating normally and exercising regularly in his cell, where he is under constant scrutiny, a source familiar with his circumstances said. As well, he has been writing letters that appear to be in some kind of code, the source said.

Thank-you, Antiquegirl, I appreciate those links.
I guess what I mean is, did RW lead LE to JL's remains himself? If he did, something is amiss here, because he could not have done that if he was interrogated/arrested in Ottawa. Ottawa is more than a few hours from Tweed. The "same morning" and "a few hours" doesn't lead to alot of time. I thought that it was reported that Jessica was found in the early hours of the same day the story broke, which was the Monday? I am a bit confused on the timeline here.
Also, my original quote says "a few hours after he was CHARGED, her body was found". This means LE had enough to CHARGE RW first, BEFORE her body was found.
Given that previous searches for JL were unsuccessful, it seems too much of a coincidence that she was found within hours of RW's arrest. One can only conclude that he either took LE to her remains personally, or gave an accurate description of the site.
JMO
The statements were given to Ontario Provincial Police detectives on Sunday at Ottawa Police headquarters. On Monday, he led police to the body of Jessica Lloyd, one of two women the disgraced colonel is accused of killing.

EDIT: Yes, it was reported that he was charged before JL's remains were found. See above for claim that he gave "statements" to the OPP. I read that as a confession.
RS&BBMIt was never specifically indicated whether RW led LE to JL's remains in person, or if he just described the location well enough for them to be found rather quickly. However, it's a 2.5 - 3 hour drive from OPP headquarters on Elgin St. in Ottawa to Tweed and could easily be done by car in the time frame indicated - even faster if LE decided to use a helicopter, although that was never mentioned. Guess it all depends how long it took before RW was charged and what time the remains were found.
Wondergirl, I'm not sure if you have read all of the previous threads, (that would take a month of Sundays!) but I can tell you personally that LE had Officers and a vehicle in place on Cary Road the Sunday evening, as well as on Cosy Cove Lane.
He was officially charged the Sunday evening, so yes, they had enough to lay the charges before they recovered her remains. If you look into the reported timelines the lengthy statement went into the evening hours. Being February it gets dark early. IMHO it would not be prudent for LE to trample over a crime scene in the dark.

Wondergirl, this is JMO, but I don't think LE was ready to arrest RW that Thursday night, right after the roadside check. First of all, I suppose they had to keep checking all other cars like they have been instructed. That will also rule out that there were no other cars traveling that same route, during the same day (Thursday) and same time (evening/night/wee hours morning/early morning) when Jessica went missing exactly one week before. Thanks, Pinkeye. I know there is more to the timeline, I just can't quite get it. I am not sure how quickly it was done, but I think LE was ready to arrest RW as soon as the Thursday night of the roadside check, but they did not for some reason. They were still watching the Jones' that weekend, so it seems as if there were parallel investigations going on, to me.
What I wonder, is that if LE was watching the Jones' so closely, why they had not already gone over the hunting property with a fine tooth comb? Perhaps they had, but JL's remains were just off the property line, I am not sure. How would you know where the property line was anyway, unless you had studied the land registry maps or whatever?
Jones had been interrogated in the fall as a suspect in the two sexual assaults for which Williams was charged. Jones's name had been cleared.
Late last fall, police hauled Jones into a station in nearby Madoc, Ont., and put him through 3 1/2 hours of questioning. They told him he was a suspect in the two separate sexual assaults and burglaries on his street in September.
"They asked all kinds of things. Did my father beat me, did my mother molest me," he says. "Personal stuff, like what kind of sex do you like.
Hope this helps,When the Ontario Provincial Police detective questioning him threatened to dig up the skeletons in his closet, Jones said, "Go ahead, mister. I've had one speeding ticket in my whole life."
I'm very curious about that too Pink Panther. Are those letters private, as in he seals the envelopes in front of jail person and that's how we know those are written in code? Or does he handle the open letter(s) for jail people to put in envelope(s)? Is he writing in code to more than one person? Is that even allowed? Oh! how I wish we could be able to try decypher those.Letters "in code" to who??? What on earth does that mean?
