EXCERPTS FROM HARRIMAN AFFIDAVIT

3 I am the wife of the Defendant David Russell Williams. We were married on June 1, 1991 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We have no children. Our matrimonial home is located at 473 Edison Ave., Ottawa, Ontario.

4 I am an associate executive director of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. I was born November 15, 1957 and I am currently 52 years of age.

11 On or about February 8, 2010, I became aware of criminal charges against my husband.
12 The revelation of these charges has been devastating to me.

13 As a result of the charges, my previously anticipated future and financial security had become jeopardized.

14 On March 22, 2010, therefore, I entered into a domestic contract with the Defendant Williams wherein I received his joint interest in the matrimonial home in exchange for good and due consideration as set out in the conveyance.

Could someone please "translate" what "in exchange for good and due consideration as set out in the conveyance" mean :) I guess we would need to know WHAT is set out in the conveyance first.

also, now that we have some dates, could someone think of questions to ask the astros? Or better just wait and see what transpires on the 27th?

In her statement of defence Harriman says Williams did transfer his interest in their home and other assets, but it was a "domestic contract" they executed and there was "nothing untoward or suspicious about the transfer."

"At all times my intent in executing the conveyance was to provide for my financial security as against my husband," Harriman writes.

haha :D yep, she's 6 or 7 years older

wasn't that Arnprior?

No cougars in Ottawa, just moose and bears 'visiting' Ottawa lately. In fact there was one bear just yesterday:
So cute!

'It was just like out of a cartoon'

The Ottawa Citizen July 3, 2010

Linda Breault was drinking coffee out by the pool with her dog at her family's home in Barrhaven Friday morning when a sneaky black bear ambled into the backyard.

The 2 1/2-year-old male managed to creep past the house, across the deck and through the entrance to the fenced-off pool without making so much as a sound.

Neither Breault nor Toby the one-year-old Shih Tzu realized it until the bear stopped just five metres away.

Then, little Toby got up and barked.

The terrified 68-kilogram bear bolted straight through the wrought-iron pool fence, with Toby hot on his heels, barking up a storm.

Sorry,I am not sure where to put this.

WINNIPEG - Just a day after thousands came to The Forks to see Queen Elizabeth II, people were drawn to the meeting of the Red and Assiniboine rivers for a different and disturbing kind of spectacle.

About 2:30 p.m. Sunday, occupants of a pleasure boat spotted human remains near the water taxi launch on the Assiniboine River at The Forks.

"At all times my intent in executing the conveyance was to provide for my financial security as against my husband," Harriman writes.

Assuming by "joint interest" MEH meant "joint tenants", then they BOTH held a 100% interest in the property ... meaning they each owned a 100% interest in it, but they also would have known they were BOTH 100% responsible for any charges or liens against it.

IIRC, in a matrimonial split, both RW and MEH would have been entitled to 50%, so she never would have been legally entitled to 100%.

They had the option of changing title to "tenants in common" which would have at least given an impression that they had the decency to leave RW with some financial interest (i.e. 50/50 split, 60/40?? whatever) that could be pursued by any victims.

IMO, MEH et al thought by totally removing RW's interest in the home, her sole interest could not subsequently be pursued based on potential lawsuits related to his criminal charges/activities.

Hazel, it used to be that to transfer to a spouse or a close relative/associate, that "good and due consideration" would be entered as $1.00. IIRC, there was also a time (not 100% sure that it was in Canada) when it consisted of simply "love and affection" (hard to imagine that wording in this particular case) ... but in my experience, it always involved a minimal $ value. May have changed in more recent years. If so, i'm not aware of it.

Jessica's memory lives on through a wonderful scholarship in her honour. It appears her brother Andy presented the first winner, at a recent graduation ceremony.

From the Facebook Photo Caption:

"This was a very moving moment at Quinte's (Belleville) graduation. The Jessica Lloyd Memorial Award - presented to the graduating student(s) proceeding to post-secondary education at Loyalist College who best portrays the characteristics of Jessica Lloyd - great sense of humour, witty, caring and well liked by his/her peers. Brought tears to your eyes."

Well, we haven't heard anything to the contrary yet so it's most likely that they are - still married. Probably there are still some financial issues to be resolved...Er...Maybe obviously...

If this is how sexual assault victims in Ottawa are treated, what are the chances that many victims of sexual assault never return, and how many cases therefore are not noted on critical DNA files?

http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/Woman+sent+home+after+assault/3254427/story.html

What are the chances of evidence being lost after 48 hours? Is this type of protocol happening in areas outside of Ottawa, too?

It seems to be a recurring pattern: RMC and disgraced officers. Let me guess: was this one there in, say, 2003?

February 10, 2010
The Canadian Press
KINGSTON, ONT. - The father of a Royal Military College cadet who mysteriously disappeared in 2003 says murder charges against the base commander at CFB Trenton should prompt a new police investigation into the death of his son, Joe Grozelle.

Col. Russell Williams, 8 Wing commander at Trenton, was charged this week with first-degree murder in the deaths of two women.

Ontario Provincial Police said they will now look into all unsolved crimes in the jurisdictions where Williams served over the course of his 23-year career.

Williams was at RMC from August 2003 to June 2004 completing a Masters of Defence Studies program.

Ron Grozelle said he will insist on a reinvestigation in Kingston.

“I would characterize this case as one of those that needs to be followed up,” he said Tuesday. “I would hope they contact me and tell me what they’ve found. If I don’t hear from them they’ll certainly hear from me.”

Grozelle said he and his wife, Minnie, who live near Chatham in southwestern Ontario, were struck by this week’s startling revelations from Trenton.

Williams is charged with murdering 27-year-old Jessica Lloyd, who went missing from Belleville, Ont., two weeks ago, and 37-year-old Marie Comeau, a corporal who worked at the airbase. Comeau was found dead in Brighton, Ont., in November.

The Grozelles have always maintained that their son’s death was neither an accident nor a suicide.

“One of the things I read was there may be a time period when Mr. Williams was in Kingston taking courses,” he said.

According to his biography on a Department of National Defence website, Williams moved to Kingston in August 2003 to study in the Canadian Forces Command and Staff Course. He graduated from RMC the following June.

On the night of Oct. 22, 2003, Joe Grozelle disappeared from his dorm room at RMC.

Three weeks later his body was found washed up on the Kingston shoreline along the Cataraqui River, not far from the college.

Ontario Provincial Police information officer Sgt. Kristine Rae said the first priority is to make sure the Trenton-area murder cases are properly investigated in preparation for trial.

Senior provincial police Det. Chris Nicholas said Monday that police were “tracking the movements of where this man has been over the past several years.”

Sorry for taking this thread in a bit of a different direction right now, but I just found something though-provoking (well, for me anyway, but that doesn't take much :)):

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...b+trenton"++williams&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca

Base commander Col. Russ Williams and representatives from Defence Construction Canada, Toronto-based Bird Construction Co., Ottawa-based firm Pomerleau Inc., and Dufferin Construction Co., all hopped on a bus which transported them on a tour of five different construction sites.

The contracts were awarded in September 2009 and announced September 22. Bird Construction was awarded the $84.7 million contract for the new maintenance hangar at CFB Trenton They are located on Eglinton W in Toronto, albeit 13 miles west of where Mariam went missing from.

A contract was awarded to Buddy Haegele Entrepreises Lte. (BHE) of Belleville for $21,924,168 for the construction of a new facility to house The Aerospace and Telecommunications Engineering Support Squadron (ATESS). The squadron is expected to move within its new walls by summer 2011.

BT Enterprises is on Vermilyea Rd in the countryside about 2 miles northwest of where Deborah was found.

I hope LE follows up to determine if and when RW may have attended meetings with these companies at their Toronto and Belleville offices.

Interesting sillybilly! I would only be interested about the Toronto meetings, since if he had a car/truck while living in Tweed / working in Trenton, then Belleville was in his daily route. What I mean is he wouldn't need to be attending a 'meeting' to be in Belleville.

I googled Duffering Construction Co. (just out of curiosity). Kinda shocked me, because we have this young man missing from Hamilton/Burlington :( not saying his disappearance is in any way related; just that I wasn't expecting to see Hamilton. He went missing January 10th, 2010.
