Ex-soldier admits incest charges
CFB TRENTON - A former Canadian forces master corporal at CFB Trenton will remain in custody until his sentencing this fall after pleading guilty to a string of sex and incest charges in a Belleville, Ont., court Wednesday.

The man can't be named because of a court-ordered publication ban that restricts the media from publishing any information that could identify the teenage victim — his daughter.

The shocking admission come as the case of Col. Russell Williams, the former commander of the same base, continues to move through the courts.
Nichols said the father had also sexually abused his daughter before being deployed to Afghanistan in the 2008.

The girls said her father had sexual contact with her at least 10 times leading up to his arrest in October 2009. He also took photographs of some of the sexual acts.

Despicable, disgusting, sick!

Rally to protest sex-assault response

FacebookDiggDel.icio.usGoogleStumble UponNewsvineRedditTechnoratiFeed MeYahooSimpySquidooSpurlBlogmarksNetvouzScuttleSitejot+ What are these? .A group of about 200 people are expected to rally at the human rights monument Tuesday in response to last week’s revelation that sexual assault victims were being denied immediate treatment at the Ottawa Hospital.

“People are really, really upset. People are looking to get involved,” said organizer Julie Lalonde, who said her e-mail inbox has been flooded.

“They’ve been saying ‘I’m pissed. I’m hurt. I’m upset. What can I do? How can I get involved?’”

The frustration lies with the Civic hospital after the Sun reported last week a 21-year-old woman who had been drugged and sexually assaulted was not given immediate treatment July 4.

She was told to either come back the next day or go to hospitals in Cornwall or Renfrew. Police drove her to Renfrew. If she had waited, the Sandy Hill resident wouldn’t have been allowed to shower because it might have washed away evidence.

The Ottawa Hospital apologized and reported there have been several women turned away due to staff shortages in recent weeks. The Sun reported three were turned away on a weekday in June.

Sorry for taking this thread in a bit of a different direction right now, but I just found something though-provoking (well, for me anyway, but that doesn't take much :)):

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...b+trenton"++williams&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca

The contracts were awarded in September 2009 and announced September 22. Bird Construction was awarded the $84.7 million contract for the new maintenance hangar at CFB Trenton They are located on Eglinton W in Toronto, albeit 13 miles west of where Mariam went missing from.

BT Enterprises is on Vermilyea Rd in the countryside about 2 miles northwest of where Deborah was found.

I hope LE follows up to determine if and when RW may have attended meetings with these companies at their Toronto and Belleville offices.

Wow, very interesting that RW could have very possibly been in the neighbourhood when Mariam went missing in September 2009

Excellent find! Things like this make me wonder:

!. JTF-2 is moving to CFB Trenton. RW was base commander at CFB Trenton. JTF-2 was involved in security for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver; and

2. JTF-2 was involved in security for the G8/G20 in Ontario. We recall hearing about weapons being shot off in the middle of the night in one location, as part of a preparatory drill, unbeknownst to local residents. What are the chances that RW visited these sites as part of the preparations?

Remember the locations of these meetings. Then there are the questions of 8 Wing Trenton and their role in Afghanistan and Haiti. Would a base commander ever visit the places his soldiers were being sent? Um, yes.

And that's in addition to all the documented assignments that we know about, including serving as pilot for dignitaries and visiting royalty.

Usually when these types of stories surface in the media, it turns out that the problem has been ongoing for quite some time. People's bodies in such cases are crime scenes. What are the police chief and elected officials doing about this dire situation? Will it take a lawsuit for damages to make anything change?

A lot of evidence can slip through the cracks if no one wants to retrieve it.

How is a person who has been drugged and assaulted supposed to act as their own advocate in such an appalling situation? Surely such a person should be considered incapacitated? Thank goodness a police officer drove this victim to another hospital for care. One individual has humanity and common sense.

Ottawa must be a magnet for sex offenders if this is how things work.

Thank you Dotr. I am only now connecting the dots, when I read Sandy Hill in your post. I had thought it was a separate incident. So glad the LE officer drove her to Renfrew; she could very well have been sexually assaulted by more than one man while drugged. Hope she is able to give descriptions and name(s). I am assuming/hoping that if she agreed to go with them, she might have known at least one of them. JMHO

Police said the woman was on her porch in Sandy Hill at about 3 a.m. Saturday when she was approached by a group of men.

They asked her to join them, which she agreed to do.

An hour later she woke up with her shorts around her ankles in another area of the city.

She didn't know where she was or how she got there and police believe she was drugged by her assailants.

I should also add, that as far as your question about the photographs, Hazel, it was reported that RW answered he took photos of his cat, when asked what he photographed, at the roadside check.

I don't think there are any facts that I have totally wrong, not sure why it's a big deal to be discussing the timeline now? The story is only just beginning, in my opinion, as I feel there will be other closures of cold cases relating to RW.

The cat/car question is similar to the RMC Kingston question:

"Williams familiar face in Quinte region
Posted By W. Brice McVicar - QMI Agency
Posted 5 months ago

As the top officer of Canada's largest air force base, Col. David Russ Williams is a familiar face in the Quinte region.

Williams is 46 and married to Mary Elizabeth Harriman. They have no children.

Williams is quiet and at times awkward, yet personable.

In an Intelligencer interview last January, he appeared relaxed, focused and happy with his job as base commander, a role he'd held since July.

"It's been outstanding," he said. "It's been a lot of fun but very, very busy. What has really impressed me in the last few months is how outstanding the support from the local community continues to be. I can think of very few events that have been anything less than positive."

The job of base commander requires an officer to be a visible public figure: the commander is host of an annual public golf tournament and Christmas reception, takes part in charity events and speaks to municipal councils and service clubs.

Williams also was one of Trenton's Olympic torch bearers during the flame's 2009 pass through the region. More recently, he oversaw aid flights to Haiti and escorted defence minister Peter MacKay and Gen. Walt Natynczyk, Canada's chief of defence staff, around the base.

His military résumé is relatively unremarkable for an officer of his rank: he's flown with various squadrons and has had some administrative desk jobs in Ottawa.

The officer earned a degree in economics and political science from the University of Toronto.

He enlisted in the Canadian Forces in 1987 and earned his pilot's wings in 1990.

Williams was a flight instructor with 3 Canadian Forces Flying Training School in Portage la Prairie, Man.

He was stationed with 434 Combat Support Squadron in Shearwater, N.S., where he flew the CC-144 Challenger, a small passenger jet, for coastal patrol and electronic warfare, such as disrupting enemy communications.

Williams was eventually transferred to 412 Transport Squadron. Though technically a Trenton unit, its Challengers are based in Ottawa. It was with this squadron that Williams began piloting VIPs to various destinations.

A promotion to major came in 1999 along with a job as a career manager for military pilots of multi-engine planes.

Williams studied in Kingston's Royal Military College command and staff course from August 2003 to 2004, earning a Master of Defence Studies before being promoted to lieutenant-colonel.

He was given command of Trenton's 437 "Husky" Transport Squadron in 2004.

His duties with 437 Squadron also included flying high-profile Canadian dignitaries around the globe in the squadron's specially-equipped CC-150 Polaris, a modified version of the Airbus A310.

Though it's not clear just which VIPs were aboard those flights, the squadron is routinely assigned to high-profile missions in which prime ministers and the governor general travel the world.

During his time with 437, he also had a six-month command of Canada's Theatre Support Element in Camp Mirage, the Middle Eastern staging area supporting the Afghanistan mission.

After departing Trenton, Williams worked with the military's Directorate of Air Requirements, where in 2006 he began serving as a project director. There he was involved in the studies on Canada's needs for heavy-lift aircraft, the new CC-130J Hercules and CC-177 Globemaster III transports and other search and rescue planes.

Williams took command of CFB Trenton and 8 Wing, the base's air force element on July 14, 2009.

The base is the air force's transportation hub, with virtually all personnel and cargo going to and from Canada passing through Trenton. The base is also a major employer and in the midst of nearly $1 billion in infrastructure development.

Williams said in January that development boom was an obvious good-news story but the disruptions it causes can be distracting for staff.

"We just need to keep our eyes on the ball so that our operations don't suffer," Williams said.

"My main concern is that we're able to continue operations, which is the reason we're here, but at the same time make sure that people are keeping in mind that they ought not get too distracted by the day-to-day inconveniences."

Such distractions could pose safety hazards, he explained, and so officers are under orders to keep staff working safely.

His official military biography described Williams as an athlete and photographer.

Asked in an Intelligencer January what he liked to photograph, Williams fumbled a little before responding with a laugh that he had many pictures of his car, including one he kept on his Blackberry. He said he also enjoyed photographing nature scenes; neighbour Larry Jones recalled seeing Williams photographing birds at the birdhouses outside the colonel's bungalow.

Thank you Summer for providing this article. It clearly states that RW was asked about what he liked to photograph, in an Intelligencer (not at the roadside check). That question IMHO probably stems from what was described in his official military BIO.

Also, you are right about the car/cat comment. Where did the "cat" mention go? Perphaps we all got confused by this: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4796121&postcount=481 LOL blame it on Snowball :cat:

ok, had to go search for any reference about RW's cat, and sure enough found this:

From the window of his garage, which is tricked out with a full bar, Jones has a clear view of Williams' home. He would see Williams work his remote-controlled camera to photograph birds. He would see Williams stomp on the grass before mowing the lawn to chase out frogs and spare them a horrible fate. And he would see Williams stroll around with his cat, Rosebud, over his shoulder, stroking it "just like it was a baby."

http://www.thestar.com/news/ontario/article/772743--tweed-from-cosy-cove-to-danger-bay

IIRC, we also read that their cat died, though I'm not sure if it was "Rose" or "Rosebud" or if they got another one.

From that same article posted above:

Jones saw Williams' birth father last summer, out in the yard on Cosy Cove pruning a bush with kitchen scissors. Jones offered David Williams an electric trimmer.

Contacted by The Star, the father, who lives in the southern United States, declined to comment. "Please respect my privacy," David Williams wrote in a brief email. Then came a similarly worded email from Williams' mother, Toronto physiotherapist Nonie Sovka, which ended with: "Please respect my need for privacy at this terrible time."

Neither has spoken publicly since their son's arrest.

I'm wondering, if anyone from RW's family (NS, JS, CDW or HW) has contacted or visited him in jail?

Thanks, sillybilly. The connection between RW and Ontario based construction companies is very interesting. Below is the link to the schedule of Coroners' inquests released 06/29/2010 for Ontario. Several of these deaths occurred in 2007 and just now coming to schedule for inquest. Appears to me to be a large number of deaths that happened at construction sites.

Ontario; Ministry of Community Safety & Correctional Services; Office of the Chief Coroner; Schedule of Inquests; Inquests Announced as of June 29, 2010:

Deceased/ Date of Inquest/ Location of Inquest/ Presiding Coroner / Details / News Release

http://www.mcscs.jus.gov.on.ca/english/office_coroner/schedule_inquests/schedule_inquests.html#skipmenu

I was just recalling the old stories of bodies recovered from construction sites....remember the 3 civil rights workers in the South, found some 30 years later?

The wide gap of time between the deaths and the inquest being scheduled is troublesome....witnesses die, move away to unknown locations, memories fade, records are destroyed. It takes 2 1/2 years to decide whether "foul play is suspected" ??

I think it's obvious that the word "car" is a typo in that article. The "r" is right beside the "t" on keyboards. I'd bet anything that Williams said he had many pictures of his cat. JMO

Having read Williams' official military biography, the reporter homed in on one of the hobbies listed on that document. It was a mutual passion the two men shared. Hendry hoped it would break the ice.

"So what do you like to take pictures of?" he asked.

There was a frozen pause, he remembers now.

"He looked at me, then he sort of looked down and away for a moment and seemed a little bit flustered. Just for an instant," he says. "And then he sort of stammered out, 'My cat.'"

Williams showed a picture of the cat on his BlackBerry.
