He took a photograph of himself looking at a local newspaper story on the disappearance of Ms. Lloyd while also watching his video of his attacks on the 27-year-old.

Col. Williams sits unmoving as his crimes are chronicled. There is no hint of emotion. He just gazes at the floor of the glass-walled prisoner's box.

The colonel went to the trouble of taking the high-definition recordings of his attacks on Ms. Lloyd and transferring them to his computer in the few days between her death and his arrest.

I sure hope the judge does what the judge at Bernardo's trial does, after this hearing...destroy all videotapes.

So Jessica was killed around 12 hours after he abducted her:

"Crown Prosecutor Lee Burgess fought back tears as he detailed the final moments of Jessica Lloyds life before Williams strangled her in his Tweed home, more than 12 hours after abducting her and repeatedly assaulting her. "

[2:44 PM]

Analysis of Llody’s fingernail clippings showed that Williams could not be excluded as perpetrator. A vaginal smear from Lloyd produced male DNA that could not exclude Williams.

[2:42 PM]

The cause of death was strangulation. Photos of cuts to her head, and bruised and cut arms. There were abrasions on her legs and back.

[2:41 PM]

Llody’s body was wrapped in a blanket behind rocks. She was clothed, and in a fetal position.

Photo shows her body on the snowy ground surrounded by trees.

[2:34 PM]

Search warrants were granted. Police invited Williams to come in and talk with them.

Williams entered an interview room starting at 3:03 PM. He was by Sgt. Smythe that he was being questioned about the assaults and murders.

Williams declined to have counsel present.

A DNA sample was taken, an impression of his bootprint was taken. This was done by 5:30 PM that day. Williams obliged.

Police concluded the impressions of the Williams boots and the snowprint found near Lloyd’s house were similar.

Police concluded that Williams was the suspect. They told him that they were going to search his homes and vehicle.

Williams said he wanted to minimize the impact on his wife.

He disclose information to the police, and was formally arrested. He confessed to all of the offences.

He was interviewed unti 1:30 AM.

Williams led the police to Lloyd’s body at 1:33 AM. A few minutes later they arrived and he directed them to her body.

Why today's front page does not include a photo of Russell Williams in women's lingerie

Although the articles explain the evidence of all the crimes committed in great detail, we chose not to run the photographs of Williams in women's lingerie in part because the readers have no choice in what photographs they see on the front page. They can choose to read the articles and to stop when it might become difficult, but not so with photographs.

(From my previous quotation.)

I'm confused as to how this was possible. RW was being interviewed in Ottawa. JL's remains were in Tweed. At what point (if any) did LE and RW go to Tweed? Or were his directions simply verbal in Ottawa and other LE were dispatched to the scene?

The last we heard, his wife is living in Ottawa and is back at her job. She has given no interviews to the media. She visited RW in jail several times, but we don't know when or how recently. There were legal papers that needed both their signatures, so personally, I prefer to think that that was the reason for her visits. Whether she is standing by him or not is up for speculation. All media reports have described her as a wonderful, respected, admired, and loved woman - even after her husband's arrest. I, for one, cannot believe that she is (standing by him), consider her a victim, and am giving her the benefit of the doubt. Not all agree.
